Newcastle Looking To Complete Loan With Option To Buy For Premier League Defender

Team Talk are reporting as an exclusive that Newcastle are interested in Burnley central defender Ben Gibson.

Gibson just joined Burnley in a £15m move from Middlesborough last summer. An early season Inguinal Hernia saw Gibson miss two months late last year. After his return, he was unable to get into the team and made just 5 appearances for the Clarets.

Last month, Team Talk reported that Gibson was told he could move on from Burnley this summer. They are now reporting that Steve Bruce is looking at Gibson on a loan with an option to buy deal this summer.

Ben Gibson– former Middlesborough defender

Aston Villa, Sheffield United, and Norwich have all registered interest in Gibson with Aston Villa reportedly leading the pack.

As with the link to Preston defender Ben Davies, we are not too sure we need to bring in any central defenders. It is one area of the pitch that Newcastle certainly have a lot of depth.

If tabs are being kept on Gibson in case we happen to lose one of a plethora of our centre-backs, then we suppose that would be ok.

However, we do not want to lose Fabian Schar. He has been linked to AC Milan over the past few weeks but showed yesterday against the Hammers how much he brings to the team.

If Gibson or Davies were to replace either Ciaran Clark or Federico Fernandez, that would be more palatable than if Schar, Jamaal Lascelles, or Florian Lejeune were to leave.

Both Fernandez and Clark are very good players who we would prefer to keep, however they are unlikely to get new deals.

The club may be looking to cash in on either of them to bring in some younger blood. Though, their experience may prove invaluable in what is shaping up to be a very tough season for Newcastle.

He looked great at Boro, but seemed lost at Burnley. I think loan with option is the best way to go for him.

Don’t see the point in this as he is no better than what we have. Lascelles..Schar..Lejuene all by far better.

Can you please help me as I’m a bit thick. Didn’t you say weeks ago BZG had transferred money to some holding account. All reports suggest they don’t have the dough. Please explain Micky as I’m as thick as a pan of broth

My Prediction is we will finish above last years position and will most likely play more attractive and open football along the way. Rafa has built some good foundations, the 352 works well with players and if we add three or four the squad is decent enough to watch.
Fixture list will help us off to a decent start. £30 million for Perez was a crime. Lads only played canny for three month and is weak as p1ss. Like he wasnt worth selling for that. Will be benched quickly at leicester. Rondon was decent but Joesmintson will be class with Almiron and Big Andy. Up the Toon

Only logic I can see in this is that he’s left footed and will be a replacement in the squad for Clark who could well be sold

Alan, rafa’s football was improving but at times the caution was too much and clearly ingrained as ex players said. For example fulham away in first game of championship and cardiff. Also away to everton under sam. Sams football and rafa’s were almost identical in a dour game. Im not sure what Bruce will bring but hoping for best and will analyse what i see in front of me, irrespective of reputation. Either way, if we dont get attacking players soon, we are goosed.

We’ll need reinforcements when the slug sells Schar, Fernandez and Lascelles for 40m, get a few loans in, sell Dubravka too , there’s another 15m, and we’re laughing, another 55m , he can surely buy out Philip green with that money…..who needs players anyway?

    If we are playing 3 – 5 – 2
    We currently have
    Schar
    Fernandez
    Lejeune
    Clark
    Lascelles
    and Dummett at a push
Lejeune isn’t 100% yet and Clark is out the door I think

I wonder who mrs doubtfire will make captain as quite often last season, Lascelles was at fault for a goal , quite often he played impeccably too and for the fee paid, he is a bargain (7m for him and Darlow) but having him captain seemed to make him undroppable,
Who would best be suited as captain (assuming all the players from last season are still here other than Rondon, Kenedy,Perez ,Joselu ,Diame and Bareca)?

If we are playing 3-5-2, do we want Almiron to play as the second striker? Or as the advanced midfielder behind Joelinton/Muto?

I remember 5uder1and fans moaning about Steve Bruce’s football, I’m not sure why a few people are thinking that this manager with the lowest win percentage of any PL manager over 250 games is going to come in and play an exciting brand of football that will see us maintain our PL status, which is after all the only thing required of him.
” Bruce assessed the squad when he arrived last October and felt that he didn’t have the tools to play the attractive brand of football that supporters have craved”
Maybe Rafa underestimated the players and Steve Bruce will go one better, only time will tell.

According to a report from The Sun, Dwight Gayle is set to leave Newcastle this summer, with the Magpies holding out for a £15 million fee for the striker as they look for a late boost to their transfer kitty.

Good shout Tom, that’s my thoughts too, I fear for us if he leaves though, he dragged us up the pitch quite a few times last season when we were under the kosh and got goals too (a couple of beauties) I’m not sure we can afford to replace that with the slug as owner if no thing happens before the transfer window regarding BZG.

We have one LB, unless we bring in another winger then Ritchie is going to be needed up top, Yedlin should have been uograded last season and Manquillo is a squad player who should only be in the team when hit with an injury crisis, please don;t try and tell me Ciaran Clarke is a LB as well. He isn’t, if he is then he’s a goalie when needed also.

How can Dwight Gayle be only worth £15m , he has scored over 20 goals a season while playing in the championship from just over 30odd starts, any team with a decent defense will almost guarantee premier league status by buying him and them goals, assuming they already have a couple of other goal getters….imho, he’s worth more than Mitrovic in the champo

For the first time today I decided to look on the Dennis wise scout system & watched the best of Joelinton!

    Is he really a striker?

The clips I watched (I know) made him look more like an attacking midfielder, the lad is quick has great feet & has good skills but I’m not sure he’s a 15-20 goal striker his price tag would suggest!

What do you guys make of what you can see of him?

I’d say he’s more a replacement for Perez as a no10, he could play a role as target man to give others space though and is young so could grow into a target man role

Looking at the blog in the very short time since down-market Bruce was hilariously foisted on this club it seems the slow acceptance has already started to creep in. At this rate Id say with a 35% win percentage by September we will have got used to this lower tier coach as the current boss and Mikey will still be rubbing his hands to the sound of coffers filling with lovely cash.
