Surprising News On BZG Takeover – Group Still Keen On Newcastle

It’s Sunday, so we expected something on the potential (is this all still real?) takeover of Newcastle United.

Since Rafa left at the end of last month, everything has gone quiet on the takeover front, so Mike Ashley looks to have survived another transfer window at Newcastle?

We knew all about the BZG bid earlier this summer, but the Chronicle also kept reporting there were two other groups looking to buy Newcastle.

But everything has gone very quiet.

But as Neil reported earlier, the Daily Mail are saying that BZG is looking for some financing so they can still buy Newcastle.

The fee is said to be between £300M and £350M.

The reporter Ben Harrington is one of the Mail’s finance reporters.

Today he’s reporting that an American hedge fund backed by Japanese investment firm SoftBank have been in talks with the Dubai-based Bin Zayed Group.

The talks are about how they can finance a deal to buy Newcastle.

It looks like the group is still interested in buying the club, but how come they don’t have the money when they were trying to buy Liverpool a year ago for £2B?

Or at least that was the news at the time.

Borrowing a lot of money is how the Glazer family bought Manchester United back in May 2005, and they borrowed a lot of money to buy the club for £790M.

Since then the Red Devils have been in a lot of debt.

Most of the money was borrowed against assets of the Manchester United club, and at one point the club incurred interest payments of over £60M a year.

The family then took the club private, with an initial public offering (IPO) which created even more debt – that was back in 2012.

The fans were wondering when all this debt would be paid off, and in 2010 it exceeded £700M – but they still carry too much debt even today.

That may not be the case with BZG – it will depend on how much they are looking to borrow – if it’s £100M or less then that can be managed but more than that and it would not be good.

There are three two weeks International breaks before Christmas, and we’d be surprised it a takeover attempt isn’t reported during those windows – when there tends to be a lack of real news.

That news could be true or not – but it does seem BZG are still keen on buying Newcastle.

Where’s there’s a will there’s a way?

Hopefully, the incompetent and selfish Mike Ashley is on borrowed time, and after the catastrophe of Ashley forcing Rafa out of the club, we can still get new owners.

But it’s like going around in circles – because with five top-six teams in our first nine league games we are likely to be fighting relegation fairly quickly this season.

And the reports will be that Newcastle’s relegation threat is putting buyers off.

But we’ve heard all that before – far too many times.

We don’t know if Ashley will sell the club, but we hope he will and that it’s soon.

We live in hope.

Comments welcome.

Emery at Arsenal said this after yesterday’s friendly game. ‘Really I am [patient] because we want the best solution. Some players are very expensive and we are waiting for this possibility. We don’t want to go to the second line of players.’

Imagine that. Not having to make do with second rate players further down your wanted list and aiming for only the best who can improve your squad.

Our Toon – to be fair, not all of us were naive enough to believe a takeover was actually happening. I wanted it to be true, but never once thought it actually would happen.

Been kicked in the teeth by Mike one time too many, thanks very much.

As much as I hate Ashley and hate him I do, the main thing holding up any potential sale is the value he has of the club. Staveley was a PR exercise, I dont think she had any intentions of buying us or finding us a buyer.

Kenyon and his buddies simply couldn’t come up with the money, BZG time wasters and dont have any funds to buy us. If he reduces the price we will get some serious buyers but the ones linked or that we know of, in my opinion are nothing more than time wasters

Collymore states ‘Bruce’s win-ratio is distinctly average at best’ but that is being kind, of the managers to takes charge of 250 or more Premier League games, only Bryan Robson (26%) has a worse win ratio than Steve Bruce (28%), the duo being the only two to win less than 30%.

The common denominator in all these failed sales is Ashley, yet many are assuming these reports of “no funds” at BZG are true.
Come on, people. Ashley is a proven liar and BS merchant. It’s all him. It always has been.

If the regime came out and said bzg haven’t got the money etc then I wouldn’t believe them. The fact bzg said in may proof of funds have been shown and they have all paperwork with PL when clearly this now isnt the case should ring alarm bells for fans.

The only liars here so far are bzg, also in regards to previous suitors the lack of rebuttal to Ashley’s claims of time wasters or not having the funds speaks volumes.

The club is valued at far to much that’s the issue, and as much as it pains me to say this, it looks like all we’ve is time wasters, from staveley to Kenyon to BZG

Dear Toon 22, apologies for the late reply but unfortunately you have been unsuccessful in your 2017 application for the position of Trainee Manager with Sports Direct. Whilst your psychometric profiling revealed tenacity, the profiling also demonstrated a lack of flexibility, lateral thinking, creativity and cognitive reasoning. Unfortunately the email address you gave us “cheesypeasforme@halfwit.com’ is no longer operative but we would be happy to send you the details of the profiling to your home address in Seaham or your mothers address in Houghton Le Hole. Best wishes in your search for employment, The Talent Team at Sports Direct.

He’s not desperate to sell, if he was the asking price wouldn’t be as ridiculous as it is. However everything has its price under Ashley, if that price is matched he’ll sell, be that players, businesses etc

Weve been up for sale from around a month or two from when he purchased us.

Hes making out we’re for sale but why sell something that costs nothing but generates a huge return on a world stage??

We were never up for sale around that time, that was all nonsense. As it proved when he went to dubai to find a buyer but ended up going on lash with Wise instead.

More recently though I do believe the club is for sale as he’s got what he wanted from owning a football club. Problem is the mismanagement has led to us having an astronomical asking price which is unrealistic.

The reason why you sell something that costs nothing in your opinion is the unknown around the corner and the unhappy punters that could have an impact on your other business empire.

If we get relegated it wont cost him nothing, it’ll cost us as fans big time and he’ll just add to the asking price when we return the following season. In monetary terms itll cost him between 50 to 100m including the parachute payments which is not cheap.

    His words in 2008
I have the interests of Newcastle United at heart. I have listened to you. You want me out. That is what I am now trying to do but it won’t happen overnight and it may not happen at all if a buyer does not come in.

You don’t need to demonstrate against me again because I have got the message.

Shows hes been “trying” to sell since 2008.
And it shoes the one thing that he doesnt want. A demonstration of will against him.
Its where this whole sale lie started.
From a little protest that wont work against hull.
    Empty SJP for ashley.
    Show him enough is enough.

Our toon, as I have said previously, the media are liars with poetic license, the club however, have stated that Rafa was allowed to leave because BZG did not want him as manager, do you think the slug would be prepared to listen to the requests of an organization who have not proved funds?
The slug does not listen to anyone unless he is either getting something out of it or Sh!te direct are getting something out of it.
My guess is that the media know nothing due to the NDA signed by both parties and can just print anything they like knowing neither side can confirm or deny, the fact that BZG have said they provided proof to the slug and it hasn’t been refuted by him/the club is ,if not proof that they have provided funds (the slug would call them out if it was lies) then , it is more evidence that the slug is a lying cheating tw@t (as proven in court , twice)
