More Details On Newcastle Interest In French Winger

Get French Football News have added some information from their earlier tweet on Newcastle’s interest in Allan Saint-Maximin.

According to their latest report, Allan Saint-Maximin would still cost about €25m but Nice is very willing to sell the Frenchman.

However, according to the report, they are not likely to budge from their current asking price as they have a 20% sell-on fee commitment to Monaco who they bought Saint-Maximin from in 2017 for €10m.

He apparently has fallen out of favor with manager Patrick Vieira due to some disciplinary issues which may ultimately prove useful in negotiations with Nice.

This information also provides insight into what Sport Witness is reporting about Steve Bruce being hesitant in signing the player.

Allan Saint-Maximin is an exciting player who would certainly provide some edge of the seat moments for the Newcastle crowd. He, however, would be a player that a coach could find very frustrating at times.

It was Steve Bruce who famously had a big falling out with Hatem Ben Arfa due to his lack of defensive commitment when he went on loan to Hull City in 2014. A loan that ultimately ended with Ben Arfa returning to Newcastle at the end of that December.

The report in Get French Football News also states that Newcastle only want to pay around €15m for the Saint-Maximin which would be a very good deal if Charnley could pull that off.

The fixtures couldn’t be worse. We’ve got all the wrong teams at all the wrong times.

Saint-Maximin is exciting but frustrating as hell. Doesn’t get anywhere near the end product he should or you’d expect after doing all the hard work. Unbelievable dribbler though, one of the best in France and I say that knowing Ben Arfa was playing there last season.

I would say it would be a good move under a manager like Rafa but he ain’t here anymore.

To me this Alain Saint guy looks like a lot of tricks and not much end product. Take on 4 guys with a few tricks only to discover that he has given the other team time to get organized in defense with his lack of directness. Will be found out in the Premier league.
With a bad attitude as well…nahh…move on.

Rinaldo. I suspect Atsu would look good in France though. Maybe we could swap him for a younger speed merchant before he gets too old.

    From last topic:
geordietom @55 – Holiday starts next Saturday – a 2 week cruise around Norway and Iceland (also stopping at the Shetlands) sailing from North Shields so no flight which means she can take as many clothes as she wants 😀
Muz @57 – I understand what you are saying but the Man City owners didn’t have to do all that?
dig-n-dig22 @63 – The Chronicle don’t have proper reporters any more who can dig for stories and information – they just search Online the same as the rest of us!

barkel, I think that’s an assumption rather than anything else.

It makes sense for Bruce’s first contact with the UK media as NUFC manager to be parading a new record signing.

What better PR than to have Steve Bruce and Joe Linton in the new black and white home strip ( with sponsors logo visible ) shaking hands on the pitch at SJP or in the tunnel with the NUFC logo visible.

Will be interesting to see if the Sports Direct logo is positioned in the photo.

When Bruce is back in town then that’s when all is revealed.

The MA PR machine has pulled an absolute blinder:

On takeover – No comment – means when / has fallen through they can claim “was all rubbish, no buyer”
On Rafa – No comment other than “He’s leaving” – by not explaining why they can ‘reveal’ later down the line.
On Bruce – “He’s one of you” – then quickly….
On Signings – filter through to ‘preferred partners’ we’re on the verge of signing loads of great players.

    BUT NON HAVE ARRIVED.

It’s all smoke and mirrors – I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if we ended up with a couple of loan deals and little else with the comment “we tried to get some marquee signings over the line but agent fees prohibited us from achieving this”.

There’s been some hatred for NUFC on here lately. Let’s get it right, NUFC is not Mike Ashley. If you can’t separate the two, you’ve got issues.
I’m boycotting all televised games so far, provided there’s a decent effort from others. That’s really difficult because I love NUFC. TBH I don’t care who owns us – only SJH did it for the right reasons and those days are gone. We might get rid of Ashley and get somebody just as bad. THEY’RE IN IT FOR THE MONEY.
People wanted this Sky shit but it’s ruined the game. Managers, players, owners – all about money. Unless we get a Newcastle fan as an owner, why would it change? It’s a business now. Money is king. More and more Ashley’s are getting into the game. Not because they’re football fans, but because it’s easy money.
I read some of the shit on here and just think “Well go then”. If you hate NUFC wtf are you doing on here?
If you genuinely hate us, and call us SDFC, why bother? You supported NUFC not SDFC so why stay if we’re not NUFC anymore?
We’ve got one of the worst owners in our history – which takes some doing with our past – but we’re still NUFC. The season will start in August. Life goes on. Did I want Bruce? No ffs. But did I want Sounnness or Dalglish or Jack bloody Charlton? No, but I got over it.
You’d think we were in a really bad place. We’re not. Coventry, Blackpool, Sunlun – bad owners who destroyed everything. Ruined the clubs. We’re still a PL team. A mid table PL team. Their fans are laughing at us.
That said, Ashley is a cancer. But until someone pays him what he wants, he’s not leaving. Simple as.
So your option is, if you don’t like it, don’t go. But then, the biggest whiners don’t go anyway ffs.
I’ll boycott Arsenal. If that goes well, I’ll boycott all televised games purely to make a point. I’ve paid for my ST in March so not going is purely making a point. But you know what? I expect Arsenal to be mostly full.
Leave off fans who choose to go to games. It’s their money not yours. Who do you think you are? If I told you to jump off the Tyne bridge, would you?
You’d think, after all the vitriol on blogs and twitter, THOUSANDS would’ve turned up the other evening. These are the same people who have never bothered their arse to go to SJP, why would they bother to protest? They don’t care, they just like whining. Being a keyboard warrior. Full of shit.
If it was up to me I’d get rid of Sky from football altogether. They’ve ruined it, nobody else. Their money. It’s bound to attract aresholes like Ashley. They’re the problem, not loyal fans. I’d rather it went back to how it was, when football was a sport, not a political issue. When football fans went to games, not paid Sky a fortune to sit at home and watch.
Anyway, NUFC will always be NUFC. Don’t like it, do something else. I’m really getting pissed off coming on here and the bitterness. If we’ve become unsupportable, jog on. Have you got nothing else to do?
Ashley’s here. I think the takeover is still on until I hear it isn’t, but until then, he’s going nowhere.
This is splitting the fan base ffs. Do you think Ashley gives a toss? Sometimes I think he came here to do just that, but then I grow up again. He’s here’s for the money. That’s life. Tough as it is, that’s football under Sky. It has its ups, but it has its downs as well.
If you can longer support us – don’t. That’s your choice. But so is the choice of those who go. Their choice, not yours. Accept it.

Good to see Ashley has dusted off the delorian again.
Once more we are starting to be linked with Ligue one misfits who take 3 months to chase then either fall through before line crossed .
Either that or the attitude so poor no one else will touch them .
Old man Carr in from the wilderness yes man ( did you know ,he’s a Geordie like?) in the dugout and on we go.
Keep it up lads ,soon it will be like him and his fancy ideas never existed .
If only they took the stadium brick work back 12 years and sand blasted it …no let’s give it a quick cheap paint job so it looks like a van hire yard
