There is a report from Brazilian outlet Globe Sporte that Newcastle have observed Vasco da Gama forward Marrony.
Marrony is a 20-year-old right-footed forward who can play across a front three. The report specifically states that Newcastle’s head of recruitment Steve Nickson has scouted Marrony in Brazil and really rates him.
The Chronicle did a nice report on Steve yesterday in which is was mentioned how meticulously he goes about his job.
Here is a tweet about Newcastle’s interest in Marrony.
— NCB Vasco (@NCB_VASCO) July 23, 2019
This tweet roughly translates to:
ABOUT TO LEAVE? Striker Marrony is being watched and has interest from Newcastle in England. A proposal should arrive in the coming days. Marrony has a €35m release clause, but due to Vasco’s current conditions, it should be negotiated to a lower amount.
If Newcastle can get the young Brazilian for less than his release clause, and it sounds like they might, that would be an excellent move. Since they are making such an investment in Joelinton, it may be a good idea to have another Brazilian in the squad.
This is especially true as Marrony fits a pressing need upfront. This is an exciting link for Newcastle and hopefully, there is genuine interest in the player.
Marrony just extended his contract this past February and is now contracted to Vasco da Gama until 2023 so while they may be able to negotiate down the release clause from €35m, it will still take a significant fee to bring Marrony to Newcastle.
He has made 32 starts this season with 6 goals. The other club with reported interest in Marrony is Sporting Lisbon.
Here is some footage of the player on YouTube.

Comment #3I can believe Joelinton, but this untested kid for £30M? I doubt it, unless they’re about to flog Almiron.

Comment #5Now this would be a signing.
This guy travels well and could be the new Eusebio,
Charnley is to be congratulated for the research he’s done to find this guy.
I’ve checked his sources – see below and the seem to confirm his potential
Vasco da Gama, 1st Count of Vidigueira, was a Portuguese explorer and the first European to reach India by sea. His initial voyage to India was the first to link Europe and Asia by an ocean route, connecting the Atlantic and the Indian oceans and therefore, the West and the Orient.

Comment #18Just a fan, yes, yes he would.
Why? Because if we can win those things under his austerity, then where could we be without it?
We don’t ask for much, just for the club to be able to operate at its full potential, something it hasn’t been able to do for 12 long years.

Comment #19The official club website is moribund.
Latest news is two days old and just highlights that “Season Tickets are available” – no shit Sherlock
Who looks after the website ?
No doubt sub contacted to someone on zero hours contracts
Where is the daily feed of information, players back from China, NUFC gained huge respect in China while Man City slated for being arrogant, JoeLinton coming out of hiding today/tomorrow/whenever, Steve Bruce impounded by baliffs acting on behalf of Sheffield Wednesday , Charnley’s hob knobs have melted in the heat – a spokeperson for the casualty department at the RVI saying that it was one of the more unusual case they have seen.

i think both you and Ashley are in for a huge shock, the Ashley bubble has burst,
and today’s announcement of yet more price rises is just the spur people need to stop going.
please stop knocking the fans till you a lest see what the season brings, all that ever does is get folks back up, you might have found it easy to make the decision to walk away but for some of us its been a very hard one,

Comment #28From watching this guy he doesnt look anything special. I see far far more special movement, touches and positioning in Joelintons play than this guy. I wouldn’t be that excited if they signed this dude tbh. Joelinton looks like he has that something special, this guy doesnt.

Comment #29So its going to be another day of no news, so what happen by the weeknd when we still have nobody? It wil be announced monday? Its the takeover all over again, and before you know it, its the season kick of and we have at best one transfer that required Ashley to spend a portion of the Perez money, a free transfer and 2 loans.
Mike ends up in the green for another window..but he realy tried, just couldnt get all them big deals over the line.

Comment #34lesh, to do that it might be worth the boycotters getting in touch with the Freemen of the City of Newcastle. The police response will be that anyone protesting there is trespassing. If they have a letter from the Freemen giving them permission to be there, there’s maybe nowt the police will be able to do to shift them.
Possibly anyway – I’m no lawyer, of course.
