Report – Newcastle Offered German Left-Back Sought By Liverpool And Barcelona

The Chronicle’s Mark Douglas is reporting that Newcastle have been offered in demand Augsburg left-back Philipp Max.

The player, however, is heavily linked with both Liverpool and Barcelona. His fee is about £18m and he would be perfect for Newcastle as a left wing-back.

The advantage Newcastle would have over Liverpool and Barcelona is that Max would be first choice for the Magpies while he would only be brought in as cover for both Liverpool and Barcelona, at least initially.

Philipp Max– Augsburg’s assist machine

Philipp Max, 25, has been at FC Augsburg since 2015 where he joined from Karlsruher for €750k. He is a product of the Bayern Munich academy but left on a free to join the excellent Schalke youth system in 2012.

He is primarily deployed as an attacking left-back but can also play as left-sided midfielder. This past season he made 34 appearances with 4 goals and 4 assists for Augsburg.

In 2017-18, he set the Bundesliga record for a defender with 13 assists. He is an excellent crosser of the ball and also takes a lot of Augsburg’s set pieces.

He is the son of former German striker Martin Max who led the German first division in scoring on two separate occasions.

    We are not horse traders.
    JoeLinton in is good.
Longstaff being sold is not a trade off – he’s the player we want to watch help the team grow, win games and challenge, challenge, challenge.
    Man B can fack off.

    Young guns and all that.
Lomgstaff has the ability to become a great player at SJP where he can become succesful but to do that he needs to be part of a team where he’s wanted and not bench warming elsewhere at a club in crisis. OGS could be gone by December.

tinytom – I feel I must offer my congratulations to you. It must be a world record or a true miracle.
From reading your earlier posts one could easily come to the conclusion that you were a semi -literate baboon, who could hardly string a sentence together and could not search the internet.

After I highlighted this recently your vocabulary/diction has changed into what I would describe as half decent/very respectable and you are now about to do searches on the internet.

An amazing transition, crash course of study perhaps or because the cat is out the bag and Jib cannot be arsed to write to fake Geordie speak and illiterate grammar any more.

Whilst your about is he no longer deploying Baloney as he is getting sick of researching Chicago on Google

Yes, awesome news but we all know this is MA shitting his pants trying to get the faithful to back the team.
This is his way of saying up yours Rafa with the hopes that spending big money on players will turn the Toon Army around and stop them from protesting, I can see it now.

MA on sky talking saying he doesn’t understand what he has to do for Newcastle United, he broke the transfer record and bought in four or more players and still the Toon Army are upset.

Poor, poor Mike the interviewer will say, here’s the thing MA, you don’t do yourself any favors by not talking to the fans, it’s a two way Street but you don’t ever stop and engage.

It’s simple MA, you can purchase Messi for all we care, it’s not that we don’t want great signings at our club, it’s the fact that you make stupid decisions with say the Rafa situation, it’s the fact that you take so much money from the club, it’s the fact that the fans have no communication from the club, it’s the fact that you think the fans are not deserving, it’s a fact that until your gone we don’t give a flying fcuk what you do.

    Neil’s really motoring so

    Repost

The caption for the Joelinton at SJP could’ve read:

‘It’s a pity your over twenty years too late young fella: You could’ve been joining a club that played exciting football among the best talent and under Keegan or Bobby Robson too. You could’ve been playing in Europe cheered on by passionate fans.

‘But now, you’re signing up to a club that’s been choked by a greedy owner who’s let one of the world’s best coaches go and brought in a less than adequate replacement who’ll put you in the shop window with a view to selling you for a profit. You’re an item son, not a human being’

I’d have AC back in a shot on the right deal.

On his day he is unplayable and he is defo NUFC through and through.

Playing with a B&W shirt on would bring even more aggression to his play than usual and he would be a fantastic player to bring off the bench if we wanted to change tactics and hit it long for the last 15/20 minutes of a game.

If, a big if, he stayed fit there could still be 3/4 good years in him.

Big strikers like AC often really come into their own in their late 20’s early 30’s when they have the experience to use their height and strength to the best advantage.

    I’d love him back.

Totally out of character for fatso to be spending 30 or 40 million, Eve though he sold Ayoze for 30.
Is it remotely possible that there’s a buyer in the background pulling the strings?
Who has persuaded him to spend big on a young prospect; although the Miggy signing was successful so far!
Reading between the lines I don’t think Rafa fancied Joelinton at 30 or 40 million.

    hibbit,

    Give up man.

It was Tiote’s agent not Ashley.

Agents talk to each other all the time because they do business together and tout each other’s players .

I can also relate now that Chelsea and Spurs wanted Tiote after his first season and were told he wasn’t for sale but from memory I think Chelsea offered £15M and were turned down flat.

so now your claiming to be an agent ???????????????

Joelinton good news all round if we get him, personally think he has more potential than perez. As for stepping stone, I’d honestly be disappointed if anyone joined us under this regime and didn’t see us as a stepping stone

Perform here, do well and get a move elsewhere. I’ve said numerous times theres probably a handful of clubs worldwide that arent used as a stepping stone, even spurs, arsenal, liverpool and man utd can be seen as a stepping stone to be a bigger and better move

Luke Edwards saying on Twitter that it looks like Hayden will be staying at NUFC

Better news than the Joelinton signing? Possibly, if he can maintain his form and rekindle his dynamic partnership with Longstaff.

With Shelvey, Ki Sung Yeung and Matty Longstaff starting to push, that’s CM sorted for next season I think.

You’re forgetting that history is a matter of opinion. So maybe Bishop’s associate Bill’s son’s view is the right one and everybody else’s got it wrong – including Andy Carroll.

Anyway, in these dark days of zero hours contracts, automation and robotics, a bloke’s got to do what a bloke’s got to do to feed the bairns – even if it means selling his soul to the devil for a few pennies.

It’s less a buyer waiting in the wings and probably closer to threats of boycott, unhappy punters and 2 years of barely spending.

Almiron and joelinton combined is probably on par with what we’ve spent in 3 years

    hibbit,

I’m not claiming to be an agent at all.

    Coz I’m not.

My point is that Tiote’s agent probably got some of the info from the craic of other agents who are always talking to each other.

Agents know more details about deals and players than many of the hierarchy in clubs.

Not sure on Hayden, was he playing out of his skin at backend of season because he wanted a move which hasn’t ultimately materialised?

I’m torn as to what he adds other than squad depth, however if he can maintain that form going forward then he’ll be very useful as a starter

What a strange day, boris is the new leader and we are about to spend 30 to 40m on a striker.
