Steve Bruce Speaks About New Signing Joelinton And Some Pictures Of His Big Day

Here are a few pictures that have been tweeted out of our new record signing Joelinton who has signed on a massive six-year deal. So those reports about him wanting just a three-year deal were way off the mark as he signs for double that.

The official website has produced some comments that Steve Bruce has made about our new Brazilian number 9. We like the sound of that.

“The kid’s got an exciting time ahead of him. He’s a smashing young player and we’re obviously delighted to get him. It’s been going on for a little bit now, so to get him is great for everybody.

“He’s got everything that a modern-day player wants. He’s big, strong and athletic, and of course he’s got age on his side too which is vitally important.

“He’s learned the history and wanted it (the number nine shirt), and that’s always a big shirt to fill. But in his eyes, it was ‘bring it on – it’s what I’m here for’. He’s risen to that challenge, and I’m sure he will be a big, big favourite of the supporters. He’s got an incredible work-rate about him, he’s got a really good humility about him, and all the attributes a top striker needs.”

It seems he really wanted the number 9 shirt so let’s hope he can handle the pressure.

Joelinton and Bruce– are they out celebrating?

This is a big first step for the club to get this squad ready for the upcoming season. There was also news today that Isaac Hayden may be staying at the club this summer after all. Does that qualify as “like a new signing”?

Overall today has been a very good day but the club must not rest on their laurels. This is a positive first step but they have taken so many steps backward since the end of the season that have a lot of catching up to do.

We hope the reports of two more to come in this week are true though there has been no concrete links of who the next ones will be. We do like the players we have been linked with recently. Today we saw three more players in Vasca da Gama’s Marrony, Monaco’s Djibril Sidibe, and Augsburg’s Philipp Max.

The club have a lot of work to do and just two and a half weeks to do it. So they must go to work and bring in at least 4-5 more signings. It’s going to be a tough ask for Lee Charnley but he must get it done.

How can you possibly say £50 million is a good deal to sell Longstaff?
Don’t you know a good player when you see one? Well Man Utd do obviously!
We must not sell Longstaff! He’s got to build the team around him.
Can’t believe any toon fan thinks he should be sold! You’re brainwashed by fckin Ashley and Charnley! We don’t need the money and how you gonna replace him you Muppet?

Despite his age and being injury prone, if he wants to come home, i’d sign Carroll to replace Joselu. Salary heavily based on games played etc. That’s a big upgrade on Joselu.

Gayle out, should fetch 15mill. Could be used towards this Saint-Maximin, who i think would play on the right or left of front 3.

Colback, Elliot, Lazaar can go. Won’t get anything much for them but clears some wages.

Saivet and Aarons could be kept as squad players, until Jan.

I think that would leave us the need to sign a left wing back and another striker/no.10. But ideally we’d want to upgrade at right back and add another centre mid.

Assume one player will come in on loan, not sure who though

    Joelinton is Perez replacement.
Gayle coming back is Rondon replacement.
Murphy coming back is Kennedy replacement.

Need to sign top goal scorer to replace Joselu. 2 if Gayle goes.

    Colback is Diame replacement.

    Need a LB/LWB.

Do all of that and all you have done is keep us at the races.
    I’m looking for more.
60M still to be spent before we can say we are looking to be stronger than this time last year.

The Premier League does have rules governing the ways in which clubs can make approaches for managers under contract, as Bruce was at Wednesday before he resigned, and there is an overriding duty for clubs to act “with the utmost good faith”.

Wednesday have said that some legal issues were outstanding when Bruce was appointed to manage Newcastle, two days after resigning from his job at Hillsborough. The league’s rules provide for a wide range of possible disciplinary processes if breaches of the rules are proven, including the appointment of an independent commission which can impose the most serious penalties. The league will examine Wednesday’s complaint and decide how it should be handled, although disputes over approaches for players or managers rarely reach a disciplinary stage and tend to be settled between the clubs.

Time is not a factor with Lazaar, Aarons and Saivet.
Doubt anyone will ever buy them.
Just like Obertan they will pay them to leave.

If Carroll comes back we won’t get another striker in case he’s unfit (which he probably will be). They’re not gonna sign him on pay as you play and get another striker so we’ll be short up front all season.

I do see us buying a few decent players this window and i think it will enough to quiet down the movement on Ashley and the boycott.

I want more than anything to see the back of Ashley but i dont think anything can be put together, powerful enough to make any effect of the removal of him. As sad as that sounds i believe it’ll be the truth. I hope on the belief i have that a takeover is still happening but very slowly, it could even take till the end of this season but i do think something is going on. Its the only logical explanation my head can gather with the absolute rollercoaster of a ride this last couple of month has been.

How many years have we said we should have signed Michael Carrick.
Bollocks really if we had signed him we would not have held on to him.
We have the new Michael Carrick.

Selling him for anything less than 50M would be criminal.
Would it even be used to improve the team/club.

This is all sleight of hand by Jabba. We are all so desperate for good news after a totally sh!t summer of lies, that we are dazzled by their ongoing trickery. Joelinton is young and reasonably unproven, we have a third rate manager and Longstaff, a homegrown talent is as good as gone. I guarantee you all one thing, the asset stripping of NUFC continues and do not have the wool pulled over your eyes.

I’d look at Maupay the lad at Brentford.
    25M would be good business.
Risk. If he was not a hit in the Prem youd get 20M back as a player who can get 25 goals a season in the Championship.

Not sure Joelinton is a CF in the Rondon sense so perhaps another needed there.

All the people saying 30 or 50 million for Longstaff is a good deal?! For who!?

There must be a reason why Man Utd are after him surely? Be raging to see him play for them and watch him turn into a club legend there!

So Linton replaces Rondon as our new no 9? I would still look to keep Gayle but I feel the club have already decided they can cash in now rather than keep him

Could really do with Jarrod Bowen as Perez replacement he is ready for the premiership and I think would be quality and would provide better value and attitude compared to Saint-Maxim

Murphy coming back is pretty much going to replace Kennedy in the squad and after last season can he be any worse than Kennedy?! Always felt with Murphy he just needed a good run in the team similar to what has happened to Hayden and Longstaff can’t remember Murphy playing more than 2 or 3 games in a row under Rafa? Was always dropped even after getting goals and playing well !

Would be stupidity to sell Longstaff this summer. The quoted £50 mill been thrown about after what 9 games?? I believe Longstaff has incredible potential and looks the mold of a few great midfielders throughout the premier league and will himself become one. So why sell now?? He could lead our midfield this season get a full campaign out of him and if he is as good as most believe he is then whats his worth after this season?? 70 mill??

Thats why i think it would be abolute stupidity to sell this summer.

Plus the money from any more outgoing sales.

Hope to god that this fella Steve Nickson is shrewd and a man of integrity.
Hope with Bruce they can come up with joined up thinking on transfers.

Hope Old Man Carr is not involved in any of this.

    Divn’t fret
Man B have just splashed about £70m on a midfielder and were touted earlier as thinking they would test the water with Longstaff at £30m.
He’s seen JoeLinton arrive, Miggys potential and while Rafa has departed players may be feeling that Bruce is more of a pitch side coach and players man so the squads mood is good. If Hayden is staying there’s a powerful partnership to develop.

There’s a good team here more than better than many others in the lower half of the table. Just remains to be seen if they can put the likes of Everton and West Ham in their place and give the top 6 a run for their money.

Welcome to Newcastle United Joelinton and I like many hope you prove to be a worthwhile No9.
The fact that nobody even gives even remotely close to a f@ck about Joelinton signing, taking the 9 & breaking the transfer record is probably the best thing that could happen to the kid when it comes to pressure .

On another note and yeah I know I’m talking ambition, But what would be the point of spending big money on Joelinton to then sell Longstaff. Even if we get 50 mill and it gets reinvested within the first team,What does that say as a club??

    Aarons is worth his place.
If he’s beefed up his body strength abit and has kept his pace he has the skills to push on and get playing time, maybe as a sub to stretch defences and cup games to start but he has potential to be part of the squad.

Looking at the photo of Bruce with JoeLinton his side profile suggests he’s been at the pies in Sheffield. Think the fitness coaches should have a word and help him slim down otherwise Micky Quinn will be worried that he’ll loose his title.

Moonraker- no need for name calling (muppet?). Anyway I would love us to see Longstaff develop here, but there is no guarantee he will develop as we all want him to. For all you know his knee could give him problems for the rest of his career and be injury prone. £50m for a kid that has played well in 9 games is a lot of money. With £50m you can buy a very good and better player in that position. Or better still, use the £50m plus another £20m to replace him with a world class player of £70m. We get a £70m player that is well accomplished for a kid that has been barely tested and has just ‘recovered’ from an ACL injury.
