If Newcastle do have to go the free agent route for another striker this summer, there are plenty of options available that have Premier League experience. We have to remember that we are down three forwards this summer in Salomon Rondon, Ayoze Perez, and Joselu.
We have just signed Joelinton from Hoffenhemim who will be our new number nine and we also have Dwight Gayle returning from loan at West Brom.
Transfer target Allan Saint-Maximin, usually deployed as a winger, would also be able to play upfront though I wouldn’t recommend he do it too often.
Newcastle will need to bring in another player who can lead the line this summer.
While all of the free agent strikers have glaring issues, (I mean there is a reason each they are currently available) some of them could do a decent job under the right circumstances.
We have compiled a list of six current free agent strikers who have at one time played in the Premier League. Most of them have played for some of the upper echelon clubs in England. Most have even been linked with Newcastle at one time or another.
All are aged between 28-30 and admittedly have their best years behind them.
However on say a two year contract, which of the following six strikers would you choose as a free agent signing this summer? This is assuming that Newcastle are unable or unwilling to purchase another out and out striker this summer.
We see a few of the choices as probably unrealistic, especially Mario Balotelli. However we feel Andy Carroll, Danny Welbeck, or even Abel Hernandez could be decent options as cover or a late game substitution.
What do you think? If you had to choose, who would you go for from the following six?

Comment #43Sports Direct FC — its Neil’s and Ed’s blog. they can warn or ban anyone for any reason or no reason at all.
That’s right,
But this is supposed to be a supporters blog, not a “we hate Ashley and the club is a fck up blog”.
If that’s what they want it to be I’m outa here.
Neil,
What about toon22??
You reckon he is the type of poster you tolerate.
Answer the question.
Please.

Comment #44And is this a NUFC blog or a boycott NUFC blog?
Abe and Frog will call me a shill for saying that. But seriously, it has got to the point where you cannot support the team anymore.

I have simply asked that people be more considerate in their interactions to other posters. We have contacted a few posters cordially and received very positive responses from them. No one has been contacted due to their specific views. It is simply a matter of tone and respect.

goals have been our weakness for years were in a better position than when mclaren took over rafa has left behind players that want to be here and are willing to put the work and effort in
that shouls stand us in good stead
but to go into the season with out a tried and tested striker is a big gamble

The In the knows turned out to know nothing. Repeated their nonsense for months and got off scot free. No questions asked. Because they have supporters on here saying they were only passing on information they had heard.
Styte information like Mund and Elmanio. Bollocks like Online Guy.
But never held accountable. The blog bullies, boors and bores see to that!

Comment #53The clue is in the comments tab on the right hand side, be respectful to each other, debate is good , if someone does not agree with what your saying ,so what, it’s your opinion, an opinion can’t be good or bad, the information you base that opinion on is usually what is good or bad, not the person with the opinion

I’ll admit you can go on a bit (as I can),
But your posts pale into comparison to toon22 who has been called out repeatedly by blog members for his incessant ranting of the same old stuff – often posting 4/5/6 repetitive rants on the trot and accusing everyone with an opposite view of being a KBA PR merchant or an Ashley arse licker, or both.
I’ve never once read a post of his that has anything whatsoever to do with players, tactics or football.
Not once.
I’ll say it again, it’s an absolute disgrace to a democratic blog that you have been singled out and toon22 hasn’t.
Neil, answer my previous question.
Please.

Comment #61Tony, the trouble with information in a situation like the “takeover” is that whoever is giving the information usually has only one side of the coin, if the people with the information on the other side of the coin does not want to share , you can’t get a true reflection of the full picture, I don’t blame Mickey for sharing whT he knows or has heard because it hasn’t come to pass yet, I blame the slug for whatever low underhand dirty tricks he’s pulled or is pulling this time….the common denominator is always the slug…..we need him out

It’s about time you contact some people personally, to tone it down a bit. Good posters are deserting.
It’s a blog, it’s about opinions even arguments.
One thing is for sure. If people come on here, they share one thing, a passion for this team.
I respect that, no matter how it’s expressed.

Comment #68How anyone can misconstrue Neil’s point is baffling. It shows what happens when inherent anger can’t be controlled.
Munster I’ll be plain unless you can actually find where I said you wanted O’Neill don’t ascribe it to me. That would be a lie.
Your question – I want the players to do as well as they can boycott or protest or not. I want them to do well despite Ashley. Just to clear up any doubt I will not support an ex-mackem coach who schemed a sneaky move for money and who was the last ditch choice as Mike’s stooge. I won’t boo him or throw insults in his face. he shouldn’t be at this club he’s not good enough and he is an insult to it by his presence. I think that’s everything.
And this persistence with “Tarquin” – I’m getting the unsettling feeling that’s all you’ve got. That’s a shame. Maybe you should revert to your foul noiuthed tirades or maybe use your “nonce” jibe that was honestly done in all innocence guv because obviously in Ireland it means “Smurf”.
You can have Tarquin. I’ll stick with Felonious.

Comment #74Have to agree that Neil publicly stepping in is not a good move . This is not the first time the Blog has been plagued by posters hounding others and whilst I can appreciate Tony has been OTT again there are other current instances perhaps not of that severity but which by the same measure require a rebuke.
It’s my view that Bills son is being hounded at times by different posters simply because he dares outline a different viewpoint which is the essence of this Blog and Toon22 is very disruptive not debating with others simply repeating shill . Others clearly don’t agree but Neil does seem to be taking a side.
A non public warning or temporary ban would have sufficed I think

Comment #75Neil, just seen your last post.
Are you happy for toon22 to continue making the posts he does?
If you were British based I think you would be running a serious risk of contributing to, land being sued for, libel.by Ashley.
There is banter, arguments and name calling, that’s normal on social media…
But toon22 is making seriously derogatory and libellous comments about all and sundry.
You should give him/her a final warning or a ban.
