The Shields Gazette are reporting that Newcastle United representatives have flown out of the country last night to seal the deal for a winger.
They suspect that the player they are trying to get over the line is Nice forward Allan Saint-Maximin. The report states that the dribbling savant will cost around £20m.
One reason for the strong suspicion that it is Allan Saint-Maximum is that the Newcastle reps are said to have flown out of the country which would presumably rule out Hull City’s Jarrod Bowen.
Saint-Maximin also the same agent as Joelinton and he liked a few posts about Joelinton yesterday on Instagram.
Allan Saint-Maximin– on his way in the next 48hrs?
Allan Saint-Maximin would certainly be an exciting player at St James Park. His ability to beat his man is top notch however he suffers sometimes from a poor end product.
He is still very young and still has a lot of room to develop. However, he must be willing to work hard in order to fulfill his potential.
His rift with Patrick Vieira at Nice this summer is reportedly due to a poor attitude and lack of commitment to a teamwork ethos. This can be a bit overblown in the press but will be a slight concern.
The French forward will add some attacking flair that will certainly compliment new signing Joelinton as well as Miguel Almiron. He is also a very versatile player as he can play centrally or on either wing.
He will also prove to be a bargain as Nice originally wanted around £40m for him so to be able to close a deal at half that price would be very good.

Comment #1Says on his Wiki that he plays for us? Also I liked this bit from his ‘Early Life’ section:
Saint-Maximin was born in Châtenay-Malabry, a commune in the southwestern suburbs of Paris, to Haitian parents.[2] During his early childhood, Allan’s parents often took him on holiday to the North-East of England where they dined at their favourite Geordie restaurant, Greggs. It is said that he had 3 childhood heroes growing up, Alan Shearer and Ant and Dec, and has declared his all time dream is to play for the mighty toon, mainly so that he can feast on unlimited greggs after the games while enjoying a relaxing beverage in the Black Garter.

Comment #4These purchases are a disgrace.
He gives Rafa nowt, and just like McClaren, he gives Bruce megamillions.
Its all adds up to a joke club.
Support the team not the regime. And if you cannot support the regime you can be bought off.

Comment #6Just forced myself to watch Brucey babble on about Joelinton. His fake posh accent used to grate on me before now it’s like fingernails on a blackboard. Is he deliberately using over the line to wind us up or is it a popular managers saying, don’t think Rafa ever used it.

Comment #8I know I”ll probably get shouted at for this, but hey ho.
Ashley’s plane flew from Palma in Mallorca two days ago, a fairly regular flight bringing him back to the UK from his home on the Island.
However, it flew back to Luton via Dundee where it stopped for about an hour. Bit of an odd one, that. Why Dundee?

Just so happens that Ineos owns the Grangemouth refinery. Ineos, owned by Jim Ratcliffe, who is looking to buy OGC Nice (and has been rumoured to be interested in NUFC).
OGC Nice are also the current club of Allan Saint-Maximin.
Probably all a coincidence, nothing of note, just thought I would share as I thought it was interesting.

Comment #9Please get this idea/theory out of yer heeds. Sheffield Wednesday can NOT, I repeat, can NOT stop Steve Bruce from working. He resigned, terminated his contract and he’s no longer on their payroll. You can’t deny someone’s right to work and earn a living.
From what I can gather they actually shook hands and Bruce thought it was all agreed.
The Wednesday owner then changed his mind, probably after speaking to their chief scout or whoever and wanted Aaron’s and Lazaar included. I’ll be surprised if we get punished if that was the case. They’ll get their compensation and that’ll be that.

Comment #15Cheers, Simon – even if it’s some kind of agreement for Ashley and Ratcliffe to work together and have the clubs co-operate, it would be interesting news.

Comment #17Saint-Maximin is understood to be available for around £20million.
The 22-year-old shares Brazilian striker Joelinton’s agent, after he became Newcastle’s record signing after completing his £40million-move to Tyneside yesterday.
Saint-Maximin triggered more speculation that he is following Joelinton to St James’s Park by some of his photos on Instagram last night.
If it is Saint-Maximin, Newcastle will be landing a player who has plenty of pace and potential but who has question marks surrounding his attitude and consistency.
Newcastle had identified a winger as one of their key areas to strengthen this summer along with an attacking left-back. They are also looking to sign another striker.

Comment #19lochinvar, not yet he hasn’t – in fact there’s been no real news on it since around 10th July, which is about when BZG started there were problems with their purchase of NUFC.
Not that this is anything like something to hang your hat on, it’s just interesting and completely unrelated info at this point.

I can recall many other occasions when Bobby has been “bullied” over the years and if you have been on BLog enough you would see that he doesn’t give in to simple hounding or being called a sheep or being the reason Ashely is staying.
This is simply him reluctantly ” giving it a go” inpersonal recognition of the situation since Rafa went and he will be there as normal for at least the non SKY/BT matches as and when his health allows. He’s giving it a one match trial for the greater good. Nowt wrong with that personal sacrifice.

Comment #32Im on the fence, great dribbler but then again would Atsu look that good in France? I suppose it is better than getting nobody or a pointless loan, if he buckles down and works on his end product, could be good…if only he had a screamer in him then id take him in a heartbeat.

Comment #36Now this is a player I would like to see in a Newcastle top. Imagine him and Almiron running at opposition full backs with their blistering pace. I hate AshLie loads but this will make me watch Newcastle on the telly again. But still, the problem that is the fat leech remains and we have to get rid of him and his cronies ASAP to progress as a team. I still think something is in the air regarding a takeover in the near future as these signings are not like AshLie at all! Even when he gave Schteve McLaren £80m AshLie never spent so much on one single player. Even if prices have gone up I still can’t see how this is all AshLie’s doing. Big figures for big players and in positions we actually need strengthening, it all seems odd tbh. What really bugs me is why have Bruce!? We can have Messi and Neymar and he could still get us relegated!

Comment #37It may not be a popular view but we are again at a point in Ashley’s cycle of spending after recovering from yet another relegation – he caused.
McClaren was the last one to benefit from the spree ( with little if any say) when £80M from memory was spent – a not so insignificant amount for us or the times then.
It’s unfortunate and depressing that Rafa’s time here is being bookended by these sprees 🙁
anyway after weeks of not being in mood for posting I have been drawn into it and feel no better for it so off the brave the heat for awhile 🙁

Also interestingly Jim Ratcliffe’s own private jet M-USIC flew from Luton to Dundee then on to Palma in Mallorca on Friday.

Is it possible Jim Ratcliffe spending the weekend at Ashley’s gaff?
It also flew from Lausanne (who Ratcliffe currently owns) to Nice on Monday.
Again, just a series of unrelated incidents probably.
