Report – Newcastle Back In For Top Young Premier League Winger

Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke is reporting that Newcastle are looking to beat Aston Villa to the signing of Liverpool’s Harry Wilson.

The links to Wilson have grown quiet over the past few months after it was declared that he would be given a chance at Liverpool this pre-season. However prior to that his price had reportedly been set at £21M.

Could this mean that Newcastle have turned their attention from Allan Saint-Maximin or Jarrod Bowen and towards the Liverpool winger? Or could this be a loan deal that Newcastle are pursuing in addition to bringing in either of the aforementioned wingers?

Harry Wilson– excellent on loan at Derby

The 22-year-old has started each of Liverpool’s four friendlies this pre-season so maybe Jurgen Klopp has made a decision to let Wilson go this summer. The report says that both Aston Villa and Newcastle are open to either a loan deal or a permanent move for Wilson.

We would have to imagine that Aston Villa would only be able to bring the player in on loan as they already have made ten signings for well over £100m this summer. They also have bought two right-wingers in adding Anwar El Ghazi permanently as well as Jota from Birmingham City.

This may be a good option for Newcastle even as a loan if they still do bring in some other forwards. Wilson is an excellent set-piece taker and Liverpool would likely want to loan him to a Premier League club as he was at Derby all of last season.

He was superb last season as he made a total of 48 appearances and scored an incredible 18 goals with 6 assists in the Championship. It could be that Liverpool want him to get a full season in the Premier League before making a permanent decision on his future.

He is not likely to get any games at Anfield this season and a year without first-team football could prove detrimental to his development. So if Newcastle could get him either permanently, on loan with an option to buy, or even just on loan; it could be a good deal for the club.

Saw the highlights of yesterday, I’ve said before but philipp max delivery and crossing is amongst the best in Europe. How he is still at Augsburg I’ll never know. I mentioned him first time around almost 2 years ago. Got a keen eye me you know 😉

What I do like about this boy is his set piece and long range shots are fantastic that kind of skill can translate to any level!!

That’s one of the things the team as a whole has to improve on as our goals from outside the box are pretty poor !

I do like Max, have for a while, but then had that hella productive season and caught attentions of big clubs round Europe. Nobody has taken a punt on him though. He’s due a move.

Aarons, think injuries hampered him if I’m honest. Doesn’t have that explosive pace he once had that made all the difference. Shame really. Still give him a 10 year deal though so I can keep my name on here.

Yeah I used to post all sorts of players on here, some that have went to prem clubs and done well, some that haven’t.
Stopped doing so since I kind of lost any hope of transfers at the club.
However I did big up joelinton when he was first linked so fingers crossed that works as well as I hope.

Yeah I dare say Max is the type of player who needs a move to a “stepping stone” club to show off his talents to the top 6………

This could end up being the best group of players Bruce has ever worked with in terms of organisation, commitment, pace and quality if we get the other 3 or 4 players we need probably no wonder he jacked in Wednesday if this is what he was promised by Ashley!

Just been reading facebook and it appears that the club is heading in a new direction with this new signing. It’s like some kind of memory charm has been used to make people forget what happened a short three years ago. Rafa said this lad was too expensive and that the money could be better spent elsewhere, they had no interest in what he was saying because they had no interest in keeping him here. They must be absolutely sighted with themselves that they can return to the policies that got us relegated without a noisy ambitious manager letting his chops go to the press.
Look how much they’ve saved in the managers salary and players wages by leaving it so late.
Guffaw guffaw, we’ll see what happens with Steve McII at the end of the season.

My name is Maiximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the armies in the north… And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.

He did die at the end of Gladiator though so heroic failure would be about right for a NUFC player.

To be fair we have had many seasons where a few fans on here thought we were just 2-3 players away from a really competitive squad. I would bet on similar scenario happening.

Then it’s a case of Bruce getting the best out of the players and I dont have high hopes. Happily hold my hands up though if proven wrong.

But yes, Bruce has got the workings of a hard working, committed group of players and a couple leaders.

Yeah it all depends on if we are actually going to spend any money and not just break even by selling Gayle and Longstaff at the end of the window as if we can have a bench that has Gayle , Richie , Dummett, Murphy, Lejuene that would be a good amount of depth to call on as well!

He did but the damage was done with Mclaren and I remember the the first couple of games Rafa never had a fit left back he only had Colback to pick who got suspended and then had to have Sissoko and Anita at left back which cost us big time against Norwich and Southampton once Dummett came back fit into the team (Was at the Swansea victory) we went 6 unbeaten if he had been fit a couple of games earlier we would have stayed up!

I’m on Teesside (boo!!) but I’m happy to come along if I’m aware beforehand with enough time. With working and caring for parents who are getting on now means it’s not always easy for me to just go and do what I like at the drop of a hat.

Gayle can go. Get this kid in from Vasco, or better also an older head with EPL experience, to cover for Joelinton, who can hold the ball up and lead the line, batter defenders preferably, and get his head on the end of crosses.

I do know that saying Rafa getting us relegated with the best team ever to be relegated from the premier league is a very divisive statement on here – Sissoko, Mitro, Gini, Perez, Dummett, Shelvey,Townsend, Lascelles, Mbabu, MBemba, Thauvin, Janmaat.

But strike up the band for King Rafa.

Squad needs shaping with additions and some being moved out. If there is a squad place for Colback though I think I’ll lose it. Will be interesting to see it unfold.

I’ll go out on a limb and say longstaff will be with us until January at least.

Gayle I can see be moved on. I do personally like him though and he’s good back up and competition up from. If he was third choice striker it means we are doing well upfront.

Rafa came to Toon fully expecting to keep us up because he saw that McClaren was a joke and believed he (Rafa) could save us. He failed. With the best team to ever get relegated.

He also had a Points Per Game average of 1.17 in the past 2 years.

Frogster, It is not ALL Mike Ashley’s fault. Some of it was Rafa’s fault.

    Interesting comment about Rafa Tony.

There has been no discussion about Rafa having eight, first team players, “surplus to requirements”.

It would seem that once you fell out with Rafa, that was it (and Lascelles came close to getting out of favour). It was someone else’s job to sort out getting money back on these players rather than managing them back into favour.

There’s still a massive clear out required but at least the team have got “players” rather than “players with attitude” to move on.
