Steve Bruce Has Confirmed Who His Captain Will Be And It Is No Big Surprise

Lee Ryder has sent out the following tweet confirming that Jamaal Lascelles will remain the captain of Newcastle United.

This is as easy a choice as there is for Steve Bruce to make. As Jamaal has been an excellent skipper since he was appointed three years ago by Rafa Benitez.

The twenty-five-year-old has turned into an excellent leader and player. We only expect him to get better in both respects. He has made 138 appearances for Newcastle thus far.

It would be very wise for Steve Bruce to build on what Rafa Benitez had created at Newcastle. He has a solid foundation to work with and if they can make some solid additions in the transfer market, he may even be able to have a decent first season in charge.

We will say that he has made as good of a start as possible under the circumstances, and while he was not anyone’s first choice, he has shown why he is respected as a man manager.

It is going to be up to him to build on Rafa’s success, and if he can at least keep the team comfortably in the league, he will have done a lot better than some expect.

Why is VAT being discussed for advertising, HMRC cant chase us or Ashley for not paying for advertising. It’s upto him and the agreement 2 businesses have as to whether or not that money is exchanged or if any money is exchanged

If advertising was such an issue for hmrc or they could do something about it then citeh would be the first ones they’d target 100m deal apparently but has the money gone through the books? If it did they wouldn’t have FFP issues.

Lastly the club were business smart and said SD advertising or any mash holding advertising was in place as they couldn’t sell the space to someone.

So why is HMRC going to chase nufc for lost revenue on advertising VAT? The answer us they arent, they are however going to chase us for lost revenue in hidden payments to no doubt agents and commercial rights etc

Barca advertised UNICEF not long ago for free on there shirts, that’s the agreement that was in place. The only time this becomes an issue is if payment has been made and VAT wasnt paid

The HMRC or parliament is the only way of ever seeing the back of Jabba
    Look at Rangers

    That tells you his intentions

Our Toon. The reason VAT is being discussed (depressingly off subject) is because so many people who post comments think that MA can do what he likes with money in and out of the club and the like.

There is a point that SD get FREE advertising from NUFC Ltd. It has been explained that this would be illegal and as such a CRIMINAL offence.

One of our other posters put a link to HMRC investigating and prosecuting NUFC for VAT avoidance on player transfers.

HMRC do not work in Spain (for Barcelona). But I know that legal firms in the UK (here where NUFC play) are not allowed (as an example) to do pro bono work for charities because HMRC may view the practice as VAT avoidance.

The idea of “Jabba” getting money in and out of NUFC without paying due taxes is not possible but also with VAT on, for instance, advertising rights being under declared is criminal and has/will have HMRC all over it.

I guess you will have to check the Balance Sheet to find out where it went when the results are released next year.

Check under Cash and Reserves on the Liabilities side of the Balance Sheet and you should see if NUFC made a profit.

At the end of the day. A person who is responsible for companies which are in court fighting against HMRC prosecutions every five minutes can’t be a fit and proper person.

Lascelles is a natural captain – to be fair wasn’t much of a choice ..

On previous – we’d be mad to sign Austin , injury prone who has the speed of a tortoise these days , he’d be a waste of a squad space …no wonder Southampton are touting him out

Ok that now makes more sense to me as to why this is being discussed. HMRC arent going after us for loss of revenue through advertising vat or lack of.

As for taking money out of the club, there are many accountants that can find loopholes to get passed HMRC and they are paid big bucks, every company does it so yes I wouldn’t be surprised of Ashley does it with us.

The payments could be made to one of his companies for example nufc merchandise being housed is SD warehouses, the club pays for that. Ashley takes a fat dividend from SD which is profit based. So he finds legal ways of getting money out of the club to pay himself

Tony has a problem with everyone in this blog – his primary purpose for being on this blog is to wind people up – he lives in Chicago allegedly but still feels he has the right to tell people not to boycott when he hadn’t been to a game in years …bizarre

Oh and advertising isnt an issue for HMRC as the club and SD will have an agreement in place which dictates that SD can advertise if advertising space hasn’t been sold. Which is apparently the case with us

Oh great, looks like it’s that time of year again, where each day had Amateur Accountancy Hour.

Over the years this event has produced some utter belters. Two of my personal favorites are as follows:

Cabaye was losing money out of his OWN Pocket by playing for us. This was on the grounds that he’d get paid more at another club (clearly not the same as losing money)

    But my absolute favorite :

When we sold Sissoko to Spurs, it actually COST NUFC MONEY! This was on the grounds of a sell on clause, and that for some reason we had to pay his agent fees (even though the buying club pays the signing on fee).

    Comedy gold.

OK genjikai. Let me get my thoughts together and I will post a cogent (hopefully) message to you. I need a few minutes/hours to think. I will just say I am anti boycott and the 18 people that turned up the other day prove I am correct.

I am for NUFC and against protests that will not work. I am most against Dubai Mickey and his firebombing. And against marching on Charnley’s house and bringing his family into it.

That’s the first mistake Steve’s made. Would’ve given it to Fernandez, Lejuene or Schar. Better defenders in my opinion. Lascelles makes too many mistakes. I’d sell him for £30m.

Finances is by far my least favourite subject on here aswell.

A few comments on here about all is forgiven or oh dear a few signings and all is forgotten. Dont think that’s the case, not in my eyes. I just think people are excited to see joelinton play and maybe the French lad if we get him over the line.

Excitement to see players play doesn’t translate to let’s all get season tickets

Yeah I commented yesterday on that issue. A 40m player is still way short of repairing the damage of the last 12 years that has left the squad consistently short in one position or another.

I compared it to a factory with a massive carbon footprint claiming they have offset it by using paper cups and straws in the canteen
