Allan Saint-Maximin Added To Pre-season Friendly Squad – Have Talks Broken Down?

According to a report by Matt Atherton in the Daily Express, Nice winger Allan Saint-Maximin has told his teammates that he will join Newcastle United.

There have been no further reports of a bid having been made after the original £14m was rejected this past Wednesday.

Though yesterday did have some significant developments as the Sun reported that Newcastle were going to meet Nice’s demands of £20m for the player.

Saint-Maximin was also left out of Nice’s preseason match against Boavista on Wednesday negotiations for the player seemingly continued.

There was also a report out of Italy that Saint-Maximin preferred Newcastle over Milan and the report also mentioned that he liked Steve Bruce.

Allan Saint-Maximin– on his way to Wales

There seemed to be increments of information leaking out about this deal that sounded quite promising.

But we know how Newcastle love to quibble over a few million pounds and how many transfers that policy has ended up killing.

Yesterday we saw a renewed link with Liverpool winger Harry Wilson and wondered if this was due to a roadblock in the deal for Saint-Maximin.

If may very well have been. Despite all the positive updates on a deal for the French winger, today we see what could be seen as a major setback.

Just now OGC Nice has announced their squad for their preseason match at Cardiff. Allan Saint-Maximin has been added to the group that will be flying to Wales for tomorrow’s friendly.

This could signal that negotiations have in fact broken down for the Nice winger. We hope that the deal has not collapsed due to a few million pounds this late in the transfer window.

If so, Newcastle must move quickly for either Liverpool’s Harry Wilson or Hull City’s Jarrod Bowen.

Just Charnley ensuring that Nice pay for his flight over to the UK , saves a few bob after all

Sports Direct shares now up 14p from this mornings low – wonder who drove the price down by delaying their results so they get a bargain and buy some more up

Financial Watchdog – are you watching ?

Sky Business news on web had no mention of Sports Direct crisis either – why not ? their lead story was Mothercare

Been thinking about the shirts sales ..
How much did juve make from Ronaldo sales in the few weeks after he signed ?
Read somewhere it pretty much paid his transfers fee from real
With that in mind should a buyer be asked to come up with say another 50 mil to have the whole club and the merchandising out of his grubby mits.
If they are smart enough to be taking local advice they should snap his hand off .
The first post ash shirt with money actualy going to nufc again could not be produced fast enough to keep up.it would be a collectors item .

Radio 4 12-o-clock news mentioned the lack of SD results and quoted one analyst referring to it as a shambles. It would seem that GT, being under FCA scrutiny, are nervous about signing the accounts off.

Nice one for NUFC – more association with what is a questionable brand.

We’ve got so much to thank Ashley for and people are still slamming him. That such thoughtless, ungrateful people exist……. Pfft

Is Charnley under orders to adopt his final bid strategy which leads nicely into a player going elsewhere. Mikey boy’s got SD problems and does anyone care?

You’re hard bustards, the lot of ya.

On the basis that when a club decides to go after a player they then presumably do character tests he’s probably been found to be a complete pain in the ….
Whatever the limitations of the current squad there doesn’t appear to be any troublemakers
