Mike Ashley Tries To Atone For Newcastle Mistakes But It’s Too Little Too Late

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, Mike Ashley has seemingly atoned for all of his Newcastle mistakes. And while there have been many, we have to wonder why this is being done now. Well, our wondering is complete. It did not take too long to come to the conclusion that he is now willing to talk because he is in a heap of trouble.

We have to understand that this is a man in the abyss at the moment. This is a wounded animal with his back against the wall and he will do anything to escape the clutches of culpability. His empire is crumbling around him and we must take that into account no matter what he says.

While we accept his admonishments of how poorly he has run this football club, we are skeptical as to the true nature of his comments.

Why is he saying this now, on one of the darkest days of his career as a businessman? Where were these comments when Newcastle fans were in an unnavigable darkness as to the direction of this club? Nothing then when one of the best things to happen to this club in well over a decade walked away to China of all places.

So, it is now that he comments on Rafa. A full month after he released a statement of his departure. Not good enough. Not by a long shot. We’ve had a month to stew over this and now he comes out looking for sympathy. Like Rafa is the villain. Well, it’s too late for that. If what he says has any bearing on reality, then it should have been said long ago. It rings hollow now.

It is now that he makes these comments. Now when he does a mea culpa. Now when his skin is on the line. Nothing before. Nothing when Newcastle United fans were left on a razor’s edge between joy and despair. Now he comments when “no comment” has been his signature motto.

We have provided the link to the interview with Mike Ashley if anyone wants to read it. We do suggest that you do. These are the comments you would want from your owner. These are the comments that Mike Ashley should have made over a decade ago. The fact that he makes them today when his beloved Sports Direct is crumbling, speaks volumes.

He knows exactly what needs to be done to run this football club. He can play the mea culpa and the “I was naive” game all he wants. He has known all along what was needed, and he willfully failed to run this club as it deserved to be run. He failed us.

Again, a lot of what he says is absolutely correct. But why now? In conclusion, it has a lot to do with his current situation.

And Mike, if you truly believe what you say, it’s never too late to prove it. Invest in this club. I’ll call your bluff. Go on and prove that your words have meaning.

I’ll not hold my breath.

    Lovem or Hatem
Sorry was away sorting out a neighbours tv

Test case for SD’s internet dealings Europe – wide
Belgium may just be the tip of the iceberg.

These companies that trade on the internet need to
get the tax situation sorted out sharpish.

If a kid in Ghent buys some SD trainers online
what is the sellers tax liability ?

Does he pay part vat in the UK and part in Belgium
    or what ?
Very muddy waters that need clarification sooner
    rather than later.

I truly think the man is worried now. With the significant drop in season ticket sales and the protests that have been and the more that will come, especially the one at his home which could of got the family rattled and the obvious bad press that SD are getting and have got, the last thing he needs is protests outside his shop.

Whatever is happening is working he is feeling the pressure. If any quote could be enough to light the fire in our bellies as ” I could own this club forever ” and put the pressure on him more its this.

Only ever makes a comment or tries to appease us when ‘we step out of line’ ie we make a stand – we must keep our voices heard and if anything intensify the protesting

Well everyone . He’s done yers again. Got everyone talking about Toxic Ash and not one comment about the lads. Yeah the players, the squad. Newcastle UNITED FC. Let’s face it it must have been bloody hard for the players to endure all the crap that has gone on over the past few months. Give them some respect and credit please .

Ashley was aware that his safety might be compromised after incurring the Geordie wrath following Rafa’s departure. In the interview he states that for his own safety it would have made more sense to keep Rafa.
The protests outside his house and business should be ramped up and be more vociferous. Figuratively speaking a few firebombs wouldn’t go amiss.
If he really wants to sell he could sell as everything has a value and bottom line. He hasn’t made the price or the deal attractive enough to get the sale over the line as yet but the way things are looking he might have to do so in the near future.

If Ashlie wants to get some positive PR from his interview he could start by immediately investing £20/30m into upgrading the training facilities, if he did that that he might be able to engender some credibility.

You’ve a long way to go Mike!

regarding MA interview, if it’s the truth (which I think it is), nobody will believe him. Why now? if he said these things 1 or 2 or 3 years ago, everyone will say all lies. Why I think he’s telling the truth? Because it makes sense and he doesn’t care if you believe him or not. I think he’s doing this interview because of those takeover news, I think he really wants to sell this club. He doesn’t make great profit from it and constantly nagging.

MA and NUFC seems like a marriage, MA is like typical husband rarely want reply or talk to nagging wife. NUFC fans are nagging wives, I’m gonna get abused for this comment, but this is reality. We are the ones who do the nagging and MA is the one who do the ignoring, like a real life marriage.

I don’t believe a thing Ashley has said about Rafa but here’s the thing.
Rafa was the glue to this whole club when we got relegated. He stuck with us, got us promotion followed by 2 respectable premier league finishes under tight restraints. With that making Ashley hundreds of millions of pounds.
Surely he is entitled to ask for a pay rise. We all work and success in any job deserves being rewarded.
What his statement is saying is exactly how he treats all his staff. How dare you ask for reward for making millions. This is now showing by the way his minions are deserting the ship at SD.

Wow!! What a pathetic apology. He has tried to ruin legends in the past, Keegan, Shearer, Benitez by making cheesy excuses, now he’s praising them holding his hands up, unbef”%^&inglievable.

Makes you wonder if SD is gonna completely collapse and he has to put all his eggs in to one basket NUFC.

He has shown absolutely no respect to the fans, managers, now he’s claiming naivety, not buying it. If he thinks he’s lost SD is he trying to worm his way back in with his tail between his legs, feeling guilt,? I doubt a Sociopath can.feel any emotion.
