Newcastle Lose At Preston 2-1 In New Away Strips – N’Soki Keen To Come To Newcastle

Newcastle have lost in their third pre-season game of the season 2-1 at Preston which we were able to listen to on the Newcastle United website.

Newcastle took the field at Deepdale in their new away strips which we think look very nice. They again played in the 3-5-2 that was debuted against West Ham.

Newcastle have played in a 3-5-2 for both of their preseason matches since Steve Bruce joined the club. They have had to get creative in putting players in some unfamiliar positions to make this formation work.

We are wondering if they do plan to keep using this going forward as they are currently heavily linked to three wide players in Allan Saint-Maximin, Jarrod Bowen, and Harry Wilson.

Steve Bruce started the game with Rolando Aarons playing as a striker alongside Yoshinori Muto with Javier Manquillo as the right wing-back and Matt Ritchie on the left.

It was a Jonjo Shelvey 39′ free kick that opened the scoring in a tepid first half.

Newcastle would change nine of the outfield players to start the second half leaving Woodman in goal and Fernandez at the back as the only starters remaining.

Bruce kept the formation the same but this time had Murphy playing the left-wing back position. New signing Joelinton played upfront with Miguel Almiron just behind him.

Joelinton won a penalty with his first touch of the game as he was brought down after making a nice turn.

But it was Miguel Almiron who would take the penalty and have it saved by Declan Rudd.

Jamie Sterry would give away a penalty after handling a cross in the box. Really poor from Sterry as he raised his right arm to knock down the cross. Paul Gallagher was able to then score from the spot in the 60th minute.

Joelinton would then concede a penalty as he stuck his right foot out and struck a Preston player. However, we think it was quite harsh as he has gone for the ball in a 50/50 with the Preston player.

All in all, it is just a pre-season match and we are not too worried about the performance. It looks like Newcastle are in advanced negotiations for two French players in Allan Saint-Maximin and Stanley N’Soki.

It also looks like N’Soki is very keen to come to Newcastle.

It also doesn’t look like Allan Saint-Maximin got onto the pitch for Nice in their friendly at Cardiff.

Even more surprisingly, as the auditor was only able to describe the document it saw in general terms, and Sports Direct was unable to identify precisely which document it was, Sports Direct was required to hand over all documents which were capable of being the one described.

Believe it or not but it’s possible to support something or someone no matter where you are in the world. I dont need to go to SJP and give Ashley my money to show support for my team.

The best analogy I can think of is…..if someone you loved was addicted to drugs or is an alcoholic would you be an enabler and assist them in destroying all they have?

Or would you step in and cut off money and get them the help they need by taking actions that you know will hurt them?

That’s how I view this, I support the team no doubt about it, I will not support the regime with my money though and I wont contribute to Ashley as that sends out the wrong message. Players arent daft they know how the fans feel.

Might be a bit strong as an analogy but hey ho

Unlike almiron to miss a pen, it can happen to anyone, better in friendly than in a competitive game. If he’s designated pen taker which he must be I’m sure he’ll score the 2 pens this season as that’s what we normally get in a season if we are lucky

A great excuse not to talk footy on a NUFC footy blog
while NUFC are actually playing a game.

This is actually a great article so soon after the game

If I was Neil I would actually be quite affronted by toon22’s

A win would have been nice, obviously, but losing today isn’t the end of the world. Don’t get me wrong, it’s going to be a long, hard slog of a season and it isn’t going to be pretty to watch, but hopefully we’ll have three teams worse than us in the end.

    Who am I kidding? We’re screwed! 🙂

    LOL

The failure to publish results as expected on Friday comes despite a reassurance from Sports Direct on Wednesday that the numbers would be published today.

“A delay on top of a delay does not look good,” Neil Wilson, chief market analyst at Markets.com, said after the first delay Friday morning. “Investors will take it as a bad sign although we’re not sure if it’s just a technical glitch or something more serious.”

It’s a preseason friendly, the most important thing is we got no injuries and players are getting a little more match fit.

Although Almiron scored his pressure penalty in the Copa America he doesn’t look comfortable taking them. I hope he’s not he best we’ve got taking them and he’s the designated penalty taker. Wasn’t Ritchie a good penalty taker?

This is the problem with us we have players who are just not good enough they play well in a match and ppl say ooh they are decent players. They sing good enough this is the problem,

Richie not good enough, Dummet not good enough, Manquilo not good enough, Atsu not good enough, Yedlin not good enough, Aarons not good enough, Colback not good enough, Muto not good enough, Murphy not good enough, Clarke not good enough, Darlow not good enough, Lazar not good enough, Sterry not good enough, Saivet not good enough.

That’s over half our team when will people wake up and realise we aren’t good enough, and these players just dont cut it. Why are we keeping average to poor players if we want to succeed/survive.

Theres quite a few that arent good enough and I agree with you on but dummett is one who I think defensively is very good

Muto not seen enough of him, yedlin is an attacking full back so I think he’s ok, Clarke is ok for back up

Ritchie is our best crosser of the ball and can still do a good job in a few positions so needed in a squad,

Ritchie is our penely taker usually but for gods sake people it’s a pre-season game,it’s not only about match fitness it’s also about trying different things and using alternative players to do certain things like corners, free kicks and pens what’s the point in using the usual players for everything you need to try other players for when the usual players are unavailable.
