Newcastle Lose At Preston 2-1 In New Away Strips – N’Soki Keen To Come To Newcastle

Newcastle have lost in their third pre-season game of the season 2-1 at Preston which we were able to listen to on the Newcastle United website.

Newcastle took the field at Deepdale in their new away strips which we think look very nice. They again played in the 3-5-2 that was debuted against West Ham.

Newcastle have played in a 3-5-2 for both of their preseason matches since Steve Bruce joined the club. They have had to get creative in putting players in some unfamiliar positions to make this formation work.

We are wondering if they do plan to keep using this going forward as they are currently heavily linked to three wide players in Allan Saint-Maximin, Jarrod Bowen, and Harry Wilson.

Steve Bruce started the game with Rolando Aarons playing as a striker alongside Yoshinori Muto with Javier Manquillo as the right wing-back and Matt Ritchie on the left.

It was a Jonjo Shelvey 39′ free kick that opened the scoring in a tepid first half.

Newcastle would change nine of the outfield players to start the second half leaving Woodman in goal and Fernandez at the back as the only starters remaining.

Bruce kept the formation the same but this time had Murphy playing the left-wing back position. New signing Joelinton played upfront with Miguel Almiron just behind him.

Joelinton won a penalty with his first touch of the game as he was brought down after making a nice turn.

But it was Miguel Almiron who would take the penalty and have it saved by Declan Rudd.

Jamie Sterry would give away a penalty after handling a cross in the box. Really poor from Sterry as he raised his right arm to knock down the cross. Paul Gallagher was able to then score from the spot in the 60th minute.

Joelinton would then concede a penalty as he stuck his right foot out and struck a Preston player. However, we think it was quite harsh as he has gone for the ball in a 50/50 with the Preston player.

All in all, it is just a pre-season match and we are not too worried about the performance. It looks like Newcastle are in advanced negotiations for two French players in Allan Saint-Maximin and Stanley N’Soki.

It also looks like N’Soki is very keen to come to Newcastle.

It also doesn’t look like Allan Saint-Maximin got onto the pitch for Nice in their friendly at Cardiff.

12 days left and supposedly 50 million left to spend, iit seems pretty simple, give them what they want £30 million for Saint Max and N’Soki, then £20 million left get a rb, Sidibe? And maybe the guy from Hull and bring in Carroll..Just do something, stop messing about Charnley…..

Can someone tell me why people think Shelveys goal was good. He hit the target fairly centrally and the keeper fumbled it into the net. Why are people talking like he just scored a 40 yard screamer in the top corner that the keeper couldn’t even touch.??

Saint Maximin it is then. That is if they haven’t completely sickened Nice with messing about.

Now I know deals are there to be negotiated but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if NUFC are getting a reputation for being perennial tyre-kickers.

it was a friendly a game to get players used to a different system . and to get their fitness up . i just hope the Fat One spends some of the clubs money and gets at least 3 or 4 more players in before the season starts .

Just read the full article Martin Samuels article in the Mail about Ashley. Full of quotes, facts and lies. It’s embarrassing that he’s gone on the PR offensive when he’s under fire from all sides.
He does live in fantasy land mentioning the Sheik bid and stating that the guy was worth tens of billions so why would he worry about the odd 10 million? So he’s suggesting they quibbled over 10 million. So if the deal was that close surely you would accept it if you wanted to sell. The truth is Ashley has to be taking money out of toon coffers, because at one point he actually says” if I needed 10 or 12 million I would just tell Lee to do it”!
It’s so full of contradictions but two things came through; 1 he is staying and 2 he is worried by the bad PR at the moment. Read the article if you get a chance!
