Report – Newcastle To Go After Premier League Midfielder

The Sun’s Alan Nixon has an article that Steve Bruce is planning to strengthen Newcastle’s midfield with a bid for Everton’s James McCarthy.

McCarthy was linked to Newcastle along with teammate Yannick Bolasie a couple of weeks ago.

In fact, James had been deemed a constant target when Rafa Benitez was at the helm but was always priced out of a move to Newcastle.

James McCarthy– long-term target now available

Nixon says that Steve Bruce and Newcastle are plotting a £5m move for the Republic of Ireland international. McCarthy, however, is 28-years-old and has a history of injuries.

While £5m would be a good deal for a Premier League experienced midfielder, Mike Ashley seems unwilling to sanction a few extra million to get top target Allan Saint-Maximin over the line. So we’ll remain skeptical on this link until we see that a bid is made.

We do have a good core in midfield at the moment with Sean Longstaff, Isaac Hayden, Ki Sung-yueng, and Jonjo Shelvey but really should be adding another body for depth.

They are a couple of injuries away from being short. Both Sean Longstaff and Jonjo Shelvey had major injuries last year. There is always Jack Colback who we suppose could do a job as cover.

In retrospect, it seems a poor decision to have let Mohamed Diame go. He’s worked with Steve Bruce at Hull City and has loads of experience. He would be a better option than Colback.

So maybe McCarthy has been identified as a good replacement for Diame. Though we do think if Newcastle bring in another midfielder it will likely be one quite a few years younger.

Frog at 112, if rafa didnt sign anyone then i aint giving him any credit for miggy and schar and Ki lejeune either (although i dont think lejeune is particularly strong in pure defence terms). So plaudits and brickbats to charnley. Well done that man, more good signings than iffy ones.

Im sure everythings fine over at SD

I’ve been a financial journalist for 10 years and I can’t remember anything quite like Sports Direct asking for more time to finish its financial results, on the morning they were due for release.

    Having already delayed them once.

This is like me as a student with essays.

It’s been done to death. Like any manager he makes poor purchases but has a much higher success rate than not.

Unprecedented, bizarre, shambolic – just some of the adjectives being used to describe the non-appearance of Sports Direct’s annual results today.

Stockmarket traders have been scratching their heads trying to remember any examples of a company which failed to deliver figures in such an exasperating fashion.

First, a delay of more than a week. Then, today, a series of updates providing no update at all.

The episode has caused concern, along with speculation about whether Sports Direct’s auditor, Grant Thornton has continued to have problems approving the numbers.

I don’t think there will be anymore signings. There are no more players going out or any news about players going out.
Bruce is giving everyone clean slate, new chances for Colback, Aarons, gayle, Saivet, Lazaar, etc.
Other than those players that were outcasts, they are still new youngsters will be given chances like Longstaff jr, Sorensen, Sterry.
There are still more than 20 players other than those names above. Possible incoming probably on loan or in January window.

#nufc head coach Steve Bruce says he is rotating keepers and it will be Darlow’s turn at Hibs. That was “only reason” why Dubravka didn’t play.

And Dummett played in the first half.

Frogster: there are ways to make money from a massive Sports Direct implosion, and even if you miss the initial meltdown you can make a fortune if you are right later on.

    As I said:

Sell the stock short, which means you borrow it, sell it and then buy it back later when it has gone down and pocket the difference when you repay the lender.

There is also a PUT OPTION which is you basically betting that SD shares will go down, and trying to make money on that.

Any brokerage company can explain these to you , so put your money where your mouth is FROGGY.

Club and local reporters can say what they like, but gut feeling is dubravka is going.

There was talk last night of dubravka being spotted in France with old/fake photos also circulating, also talk of him attending lejeune’s wedding yesterday (congrats) but not sure about that if he was there.

Newcastle United are in negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain to potentially sign young defender Stanley N’Soki, but the French champions are holding out for a £12 million fee, according to Sky Sports.

The Tyneside outfit have had a summer of change, with Steve Bruce replacing Rafa Benitez in the managerial hotseat and a number of prominent players exiting St James’ Park.

However, the club-record capture of Joelinton from Hoffenheim will have restored some belief in the Newcastle fans, who will insist more new faces arrive on Tyneside before the close of the transfer window.

Recruiting new options in defence will be a priority for the Magpies and N’Soki represents a potentially exciting new arrival.

The 20-year-old is a product of the prestigious PSG youth academy and the reported Newcastle target is highly rated in his homeland.

However, N’Soki has found regular first-team football hard to come by in the French capital and the full-back only made 12 Ligue 1 outings for PSG last season.

Newcastle could do with an additional option or two in the full-back role but the report suggests that Serie A outfit Lazio are also interested in the young French defender.
N’Soki has represented France at under-21 level and clearly needs more football under his belt if he is going to reach his considerable potential.

The chance to play regularly for Newcastle could be a real drawcard in the Premier League outfit managing to close a deal for the 20-year-old, but it remains to be seen if notoriously thrifty Magpies owner Mike Ashley will cough up the required fee to make the Frenchman a new addition at St James’ Park.

If every player has a clean slate, our midfield is alot stronger than ppl think.

Hayden, shelvey, ki sung, longstaff is decent. Colback is half decent cover. But the most underrated midfielder we have is Henri saviet. With a clean slate he can be a very handy player to have.

I know ppl will says to me he’s crap and rubbish because he’s hardly featured. But I think with him our midfield is really not bad.

NUFC send “friendly” agent to Nice.

Opposed to what exactly?? Perhaps this is why they can never get players over the legendary line, as up till now they’ve been relying on belligerent puppets who have to phone MA for permission to scratch their arse.

Why does this “friendly” agent have to go anyway, can he not be “friendly” over the phone? Or is he relying on being so very “friendly” when face to face they simply won’t be able to resist his offer.

What’s he doing, offering €16m with a happy ending?

    “Just wow”
Well I’ve racked my brains after the latest Ashley staged interview in the Mail and the Mags report is the only sensible reaction! Every club in every league is trying their best to be as good as they can be except Nufc who plan to tread water in the best league in the world whilst grooming young players to sell on at a profit when they reach their peak!
Every game we win doesn’t make us more successful it only supports Ashley’s project, so really what is the point in supporting them! The Mag has got the only logical stand!
