Newcastle Should Go For Former Arsenal Academy Product

Donyell Malen is a Dutch forward who turned down a contract extension with Arsenal two summers ago and joined Eredivisie club PSV Eindhoven on a three-year deal.

Despite being a highly rated youngster, Arsenal were unable to convince Malen to resign with them. He opted to return to the Netherlands where this past season he was able to attain first-team football.

Malen is a right-footed forward who can play on either wing or upfront as a striker. He is an exciting young player who had an outstanding season for PSV this past year.

Donyell Malen– breakout season for PSV

Malen has just one year left on the contract he signed when he left Arsenal and he is being heavily scouted by West Ham.

This is a player who we feel should be on Newcastle’s radar due to his age and potential. We are not sure what fee he would command but with just the one year left on his contract, it should not be too high.

He would also fill a need for Newcastle as he is a versatile attacker. He also has been given the number 9 shirt at PSV which belonged to former Newcastle striker Luuk de Jong who has joined Sevilla this summer.

Here is the obligatory YouTube video of the player’s highlights.

Rafa wasn’t in SBR’s league either as a manager or a person.

I’d have SBR’s photo on here any day over Rafa’s to .illustrate true Geordie pride in NUFC.

SBR’s famous statement on what a football club means to fans is legendary.

As was the style of football he played and the true pride he brought back into supporting NUFC.

    If Ed/Neil can’t stomach putting Bruce’s picture – replace Rafa’s with SBR.

Muz, Bobby will always be more fondly remembered by the club as a whole. The fact that he is no longer alive would be a fine reason to put him up. I would agree with Billson.
