Have Newcastle Signed A Gem In New Midfielder?

Andrew Musgrove in the Chronicle have an exclusive interview with new signing Kyle Scott’s representative Neil Bartholomew.

It seems that Kyle was offered a very good four-year deal to remain at Chelsea but due to a blocked path to the first team he decided to try his luck elsewhere.

Newcastle have apparently had the deal tied up since March but Scott still had clubs like Lazio and Rapid Vienna trying to sign him up until the last minute.

This is what Bartholomew had said about the deal to get Kyle to Newcastle:

“Chelsea offered him a four-year extension, so he wasn’t going to be on a free – United have got themselves a real bargain.

“When I spoke to people within the game, they couldn’t believe he was available – so it’s a credit to Lee Charnley, he’s been excellent.

“He listened to me and trusted my judgment.

“He and Steve Nickson got on this deal straight away, there was interest from Manchester City and Tottenham but they got the deal done.”

From these comments, it doesn’t appear that Scott was a player who couldn’t make the grade at Chelsea necessarily, as they seemed to want to keep him. However, it seems very unlikely that he would have ever gotten the chance to play for the Blues.

Neil Bartholomew also has ties to Newcastle which helped them get the deal for Scott when it was clear that he was not going to return to Chelsea.

This is what Musgrove writes about Bartholomew and his connection to Newcastle.

Firstly, Bartholomew, a north-east lad who worked for United for eight years under Freddy Shepherd and briefly for Mike Ashley – tipping the club off to the likes of Aaron Ramsey and Luka Modric, the latter he feels Scott shares a football resemblance with.

Any resemblance to Luka Modric is something we like to hear though we hope it just isn’t physical stature. From the footage we have seen of Kyle Scott he does seem to have excellent vision and as well as being able to pick out a pass both short and long.

We are pleased with the signing of Kyle Scott and he is very determined to make it into the first-team. That is one of the primary reasons he has joined up with Newcastle. So maybe we will even see him in a few games this season if he can really impress with the reserves.

I notice it is business as usual on the blogg.
Who will we sign and who will play against Gooners.
    As if nothing has happened……..
The Mag believes there will be a near full house against Arsenal. Its shameful. A load boycott and a load more replace them.
As the Mag says the Toon fans are a disgrace and lack moral courage.
They should not boo or complain because they are condoning the regime.
Bruce does not think the fans will boycott and he is right. He knows that they have mince for brains. Ashley is laughing at us and can play us like a fine violin. So easy when the crowd has mince for brains.
Now what should the formation be against the Gunners??. Thats the big issue.
    But its not is it?

Why are we talking about a pretty average if not mostly always a rubbish player who never filled his potential and that we got rid of a few years ago now??
