Moving Newcastle Forward – Mike Ashley Talks About His False Excitement And Ambition

If we are to believe Mike Ashley, then he has a new-found excitement and even ambition for Newcastle.

This has come within weeks of the owner essentially forcing world-class manager Rafa Benitez out of the club.

For some of us, that was the last straw with Ashley, and we always wondered if he would ever make his biggest mistake as the Newcastle owner and not meet Rafa’s demands.

He did that, and his spite and stubbornness forced Rafa out of the club.

We must now get rid of Ashley – who is like an albatross around the neck of Newcastle United.

Mike Ashley – this man must sell Newcastle quickly

And only Ashley could come out and say this about Steve Bruce – an under-whelming choice of manager following Rafa:

“For me, Steve is an amazing choice because, England aside, there is no other job for him.”

“This is his dream. What I want the fans to understand is that, in him, they have someone who absolutely cares.”

“He’s not worried about his expenses, all that crap. He wants to talk about Newcastle. I get excited by that.”

We will remind Ashley that Rafa – world-class manager though he is – was willing to be relegated with Newcastle United and he brought us straight back up from the Championship.

And Ashley has attacked Rafa in the same article, but we know that Rafa cared a lot about Newcastle – at least as much as Steve Bruce.

So we won’t bother with Rafa’s excuses about why Rafa left.

And Ashley even had the gall to suggest he was excited about Newcastle’s future and even had ambitions for the club.

He went on to say this in the Mail article after he had visited the training ground to meet Steve Bruce – which he rarely did with Rafa Benitez:

“I go to the training ground, hot day, all lovely – you can’t help getting carried away.”

“I’m like, ‘What can I do to help? Can we get another one in? What’s he like, is he fast?”

“It’s one of the amazing things about owning a football club, the way you get caught up. It’s like someone has put something in your coffee.”

“You look around, you want to lift the place, hit the ground running. I hope we’re not finished at Joelinton.”

That’s about the biggest load of codswallop I’ve heard from Ashley.

If he is so enthusiastic about the club, how come he has hardly attended any games over the last two years.

And the experienced  Steve Bruce finds himself in an unfortunate situation with all of this.

We hope he can do well, but his management history and record doesn’t give us a lot of hope that he can make us into a top-eight club.

But he’s saying all the right things, and we know he’s a straight shooter.

So we hope that even in these tough circumstances for our fans, we can all get behind Steve and the players – as we did with Rafa.

Steve Bruce is nowhere near Rafa as far as management skills go, but we know he’ll work his socks off to try to make Newcastle into a better side than last season.

We hope he’s successful.

We also hope an ambitious owner will come in and secretly negotiate to buy the club.

And that it’s announced out of the blue before the end of the year.

That’s what I’m hoping for.

My son Neil is right when he keeps telling me I have to get over Rafa leaving.

But I am finding it very very difficult to do that.

But hey, we must live in hope and look to the future.

So our best hope now is that manager Steve Bruce can over-achieve in the job – and that’s certainly possible.

We hope he does well, but we have to do our part; we have to support him and our players.

Comments welcome.

So what is the midfield this year? We are playing a 3-5-2?

Would that be Shelvey/Ki lying deep with Longstaff and Hayden in front of either of them?

Kyle Scott, what is his preferred position, deep lying or attacking mid?

The Financial Reporting Council, the UK audit watchdog, has been informed of Grant Thornton’s decision to resign, FT reported. The FRC is currently probing Grant Thornton over the non-disclosure of payments made by Sports Direct to a company run by the brother of founder and Chief Executive Mike Ashle

Checking Mr. Scott on youtube, I like it. Get him on the bench immediately, sell Shelvey and have Ki as backup.

Scott – Hayden – Longstaff as central midfield. Would love it. Average age of 22.

Sorry but I find name changing very irritating, as one of the 90% of senile old codgers on the blog, it takes me a little while to realise who they are.

It’s bad enough having to remember who I am!

Ashley has spoken like the first word- the first words in 12 years ?
Read from a prompt in front of him, composed by Bishops replacement whoever they might be.
It’s like having a conversation with a monk whose taken a vow of silence.
    Pointless.

He got excited by Benton ?
    Weeps.

He got excited by the £5m a year he’s saved on head coach wages.
    Priceless.

    Speechless – well nearly

What the hell’s with all the name changing? People (is me!) don’t know who they’re reading or tempted to respond to.

The Blog’s had its share of idiots over the years but this summer seems to have called ’em all.

Troublemakers in abundance along with fantasists and narcissists spoil The Blog – I won’t include the frog, irritating at times, but he has his agenda, his target and he’s never veered away from Ashley.

But we’ve had some real plums pop up lately. The socially inadequate Balloony, Hibbit’s nemesis (I’ve lost track of his previous handles) is the latest to be hiding his true (?) ID – does he have one. And we’ve seen rucks between some who infer they’re Irish.

Season that lot with Jib and his many alts and we’ve got a real pan of…..

    Grow up.

It looks to me as if it all came down to a battle of personalities or wills between Ashley and Rafa, a battle Rafa could never win.
If, and it’s a big if, Ashley does support Bruce with transfer funds and in any other ways, it’ll be because he is still intent on rubbing in his victory over Rafa.
It might work out to the benefit of us fans – but it’s no reason to ease up on the pressure we can exert on him till he b@ggers off.

When it comes to AshLIE it’s a simple fact….

We cannot believe a word he says – nothing at all.

Add CharnLIE to the list ….Who knows, in a few weeks we might have the worst threesome imaginable with Bruce also on the list.

Its frightening what has happened to our club, Ash had/has the chance to sell and get out – but once he saw it was Middle East Prince, Kerching !

Appears BT sports panel has NUFC down for relegation.

Lambert at Chelsea top at Xmas.

I know we regarded Rafa as a top Manager, but he did fail to win what we regarded as winnable games. But there again the win over Man City was brilliant. So in-effect he was a mixed bag of tricks re tactics etc.

Ok he is not here now, but looking forward to this season, is Steve Bruce not better than Solscar I know wrong spelling, of Manu, would he not be better than Frank lambert. Is he not better than, hodgson of Crystal Palace. Bruce has far more experience than a lot of managers in this league, so I’m not expecting a total disaster of a season.

I think the key to this season will be any new signings which I’m hopeful for.

Bruce is very experienced at being clueless.
He is tactically naive which is shown time and time again by his lack of wins.

He makes McLaren look like a genius. I also expect Carver to come back now too.

He has already written off a decent place in the league because if he went for top 8 he would get a nosebleed.

Our players will go backwards. A world class manager can polish a top player till he becomes world class.

An extremely poor manager like Bruce can turn good players into bad ones.

Even his style of football sucks.

He is a dinasour. Most teams now go out to attack and play. It also improves players.

Bruce’s continual plan will be to defend against it
