Newcastle defeated Hibernian 3-1 at Easter Road this afternoon in a pretty dominant display. This is the type of performance you would hope for in the penultimate pre-season fixture.
After taking a 2-1 lead into the half, Newcastle came out for the second half with an unchanged side and continued their lively play.
Joelinton was sent through early on but tried to pass it off to Hayden only for the keeper to collect it.
Ki Sung-yueng came on to replaced Sean Longstaff after 61 minutes. This was an excellent run out for the young midfielder who continues to impress as he returns from his knee injury.
Newcastle won a corner at 70 minutes and made a double substitute. Joelinton and Almiron came off after a very promising performance together. They were replaced by Yoshinori Muto and Jacob Murphy, who again has played been deployed as a second striker.
From the subsequent corner, it was Jamaal Lascelles who headed it home after being left unmarked to make it 3-1.

Newcastle then brought in Ciaran Clark for Paul Dummett. Clark has been linked with moves to both Crystal Palace and Bristol City over the past few days but he did get on for a good 20 minutes.
Jamie Sterry, Matty Longstaff, and Federico Fernandes then came on for Javier Manquillo, Jonjo Shelvey, and Fabian Schar. We must say it sounded like Javier Manquillo was superb this evening.
This was a very good run out for the lads but they need to be a bit more clinical in front of goal. It seems that Joelinton linked up really well with Almiron and that might bloom into a very good partnership.
We are still concerned about Martin Dubravka who did not make the trip again but there will be some relief if he is in goal against St-Etienne on Saturday.
Overall a very nice display at Hibernian with some fine performances as the team get more and more used to playing under Steve Bruce.

Dear Punter
A technical fault has occured recently with our operating system which has forced us to reset our plan.
Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.
We are very sorry for the lack of ambition. Not.

Is that how you see it? I would agree if they are complaining but doing nothing about it or even giving Mike their money.
However it’s – I can’t believe this has to be explained AGAIN but here we go – a NUFC blog. Not a “footy” blog. It’s a blog about ALL things NUFC. And if the desire to see Ashley gone is the word of the day, 57 of them are coming, like it or not. It’s better if you just accept it 🙂

You are getting away with it.
Don’t blow it !
You have the sheep on here totally mesmerised.
Even supposed intelligent folk like Tsunki
Hell – even members of the Harrison family have addressed you.
Then you say things like the Haymarket is full of bars and places to stay

Shelvey
Yeh he was a pivotal player last year, best we have had in as long as i can remember.
Oh dear
Jonjo Shelvey PL stats 18/19 – 16 games 944 minutes (Average 59 minutes per game) 1 goal 1 assist
toon22 it’s clear you aren’t from this area and know very little about footy
Take my advice.
Resist the urge to talk about the Tyneside area or things footy and you’ll probably get away with it for ages.
Good Luck

By endorsing such a naive staternent as onmeheed’s ‘a buyer will only come in if we are a stable PL club, which means we have to back the team and manager [by buying STs]’, you’ve shown your stupidity is boundless.
Even you know, or should by now, know that Ashley’s not going to sell when we’re in the Prem unless he gets what Ge wants in full.

Comment #131people having a go about Joelinton . he’s new to the team very rare players ” hit the ground running ” . hope he tears up the league get someone along side him . he will be ok . we need a out and out C/F. hopefully we get Saint-Maximin in for wor team , with Var coming in this season a player like him might just win us freekicks/pens / . get some wins under our belts in the first few games , i think we will be ok this season but thats just my thoughts …

Comment #132We’ll never be a stable premier League club under Ashley , the club seems strategy seems to be based on chaos theory.
For almost all of Ashley’s tenure it’s been seen by pundits and fans alike as the worst ran club in prem. Every year we’re seen as relegation candidates. The incumbent manager has always been praised as pulling off a miracle in the ears we haven’t been relegated … Stable club !! Don’t make me laugh

They’re still a bit restless, I will offer another Walter Mitty type interview. I will rehash some old nonsense about being a fan and not really understanding the football business, try and make them feel sorry for me. ” I am after all only a young girl” Didn’t that work for that actress on Game Of Thrones ? Couple that with a few positive preseason games. Great, rubs hand, let the fleecing continue unabated :

Just a few observations will help though
Pass to your own players keep the ball on the floor and play football in your opponents half
Get some better players in and a manager who knows what he’s doing
