President of French Club Questions Newcastle’s Bid For Full-Back

It appears that Newcastle are trying to capture SC Amiens right-back Emil Krafth but may not have been counting on the French club’s resolve in holding on to their new signing.

Bernard Joannin is the President of SC Amiens, who just signed the Swedish international from Bologna for €2.5M this summer. Krafth had spent last year on loan at the Ligue 1 club.

The following tweet by an Amiens fan account has a comment attributable to the Amiens president.

The statement translates to:

“If the leaders of Newcastle are ready to put in 11M € to buy N’Soki, why would not they put in 11M € for Emil Krafth?”

Well, there is no way Krafth is worth the same amount as Stanley N’Soki but Newcastle should be expecting the French club to want to hold on to their new signing. We have to wonder how much the club is bidding for the 24-year-old.

There appears to be very solid interest in the Swede from Newcastle which at least shows the club is trying to get players in. It also appears that Krafth would love to join Newcastle which you would expect to be the case.

Alan Nixon of the Sun has tweeted the following about Amiens stance on Krafth as well as the player’s willingness to join.

The slow start to the summer activities by Newcastle is going to end up burning them we fear. They made no haste in finding a replacement for Rafa Benitez when they knew he was hesitant to sign a new contract in mid-May. This indecision brought a halt to much of the club’s transfer activity and now Newcastle are trying to make up for lost time.

We are not sure of how long Krafth has been on Newcastle’s radar or if it was even a possibility to sign him before Amiens did, but to go in with derisory offers for a player who has just signed for a club seems ludicrous. It’s even more ludicrous that they have just one transfer completed with 9 days left in the window.

Well, we’ll see where this one goes from here but there does appear to be genuine interest from the club in the player and vice versa. But as is generally the case, it is the fee that is holding things up.

Regardless of the delay, we have best part of 50 million to spend on transfers (more really), we’ve got relatively low cost targets and they’re gonna miss out over 2 or 3 million. Ffs they’re now quibbling about N’soki’s wages! Surely they should know what the lad wants before they start. We need the 2 French guys and it drags on and on Ashley is tryptophan do it all himself and his empire is crumbling!

Optimistic Prime (I think?) I will get on the barricades at some point. Like Marius in Les Miserables I’ll come to the cause late but throw myself into it with passion and determination.

Sadly I’m on my hols for two and a half weeks from tomorrow so it’ll have to wait, though I’ll be throwing good thoughts your way.

    Dr. Ed.

    Re previous post.

Like you I feel gutted that Rafa is no longer with us!
Also like you, I imagine, I felt gutted when Keegan left as I also did after SBR was dismissed.

Regarding Steve Bruce – I am disappointed with that appointment but…… he is now the “Coach” of NUFC!

I feel we have to give the guy a chance to prove himself – There would be no one more pleased than me & you (I imagine) if he hits the ground running (and he has to) and surprises us all. I have a gut feeling that we will get a result against Arsenal next week-end.

I won’t be at the match but I do want Newcastle United to perform well and hopefully take some reward from the game.

Thanks once again to you Neil & “The Wife” for giving us this platform to air our “Toon” views.

    Gan Canny eh?

So MA tells the whole world that Joelinton deal was finished and medical passed before Rafa left, but it still took MA 3 weeks to get him over the line. Why wasn’t Joelinton here July 1st? Or did Rafa have a hand in delaying it?

Rafa contract ended June 30, 6 weeks ago but people blaming Rafa for not signing anyone. lol. I guess Rafa is to blame for the low ball wages offered to N’zoki too. You cant make this stuff up.

Theres plenty of managers that have a preferred formation and dont like to move away from what they know, it wouldn’t surprise me if Bruce was telling the truth regarding tactics though!!

He’s taken the job whether we like it or not, bottom line is he’s took dogs abuse and a ball is yet to be kicked.

As I said a few months back, treat all managers the same, Rafa given a god like status is baffling to me, especially when he made his mind up in may that he’s leaving but was happy to sit out his contract till end of june!!

You’re correct rafa is by far the best manager we can ever hope for under Ashley in terms of cv, issue is it means nothing because he’s managing under Ashley.

Someone’s cv shouldn’t mean we all should adopt double standards. Ashley used rafa, and in turn the fans were duped again

Rafa always honours his contract! If you don’t know why he had god like status you are missing something. 50 thousand chanting his name for the entire game v Spurs 3 years ago, even though we were relegated was something to behold. I’ve never experienced anything like that and it was that bond you obviously don’t get!
