Report – Lee Charnley In France To Personally Close Deal

Get French Football News is reporting that Newcastle representatives are in Nice trying to close the deal for Allan Saint-Maximin.

The outlet reporting this news is RMC and they report Lee Charnley by name as being in Nice trying to complete the deal. It looks like they will try to use some bonuses to get the €18m deal over the line.

Once a fee is agreed between the two clubs, the report says that there will still be work to do with smaller details like agent commissions to sort out.

Get French Football News also have a very detailed article about what type of player Newcastle will be getting in Saint-Maximin. The author of this piece seems to think that his best role is as a second striker which would suit the 3-5-2 that Newcastle have used this preseason.

NUFC officials arrive in Nice to ‘finalise’ deal for Allan Saint-Maximin – Report

Accoridng to RMC, Newcastle United representatives are currently in Nice in a bid to finalise a deal for French winger Allan Saint-Maximin.

The French outlet claims that Lee Charnley is aiming to complete the move after several weeks of negotiating, with the club now ‘confident’ of a deal worth €18m (£16.5m) + bonuses.

The piece does state that ‘finer details’ are still being worked on between the two parties, with agent commissions mentioned, however it sounds like we are trying to get this one wrapped up once and for all.

RMC sports’ chief reporter Sacha Tavolieri has said the following about the deal on Twitter in the last few moments:
“The leaders of #NewcastleUnited , including its president, are in Nice to conclude Alan’s deal #SaintMaximin based on a sum of 18M of € paid cash + small bonuses. There are still some details (commissions, etc.) to settle before formalization.”
Considering this deal has dragged on for weeks now and we’re in depserate need of an Ayoze Perez replacement, let’s hope this one is wrapped up ASAP.

I reckon Charnley is more like an El Presidente of some tin pot central american dictatorship than a DT, he’s not that smart.

    Repost (Ed’s charabanc’s really rolling)

    OP

President Penfold? Appointed by Adolf Ashley oh yes and like the latter, is rolling into France, to show ’em who’s boss!

But President Penfold sounds as ludicrous as Prime Minister Kemal Johnson who was democratically imposed on the unthinking, unsuspecting country by 100k or so Tory Party members.

A message to those do called fans who aren’t prepared to protest against Adolf Ashley, take heed – do nothing and you’ll be at the receiving end of whatever chit he and his predident chooses to shovel onto you.

You ‘true fans’ remind me of the pitmen who scabbed during the last miners strike and joined a Thatcher supported UDM having been convinced that striking was pointless and their jobs’d be secured.

Yes, Roy Lynk, the UDM leader staged a sit in in the Silver Hill pit (a Notts pit that worked during the strike) and tried to prevent its closure. He came up, starved out, defeated and the pit closed.

Thatcher divided the miners and defeated them, conquered them – deep mining is virtually no more and trades unions are virtually entered.

Take note, think. If you ‘true fans’ support Ashley, you’ll end up like the miners – stuffed and stuck with a third rate club in a dilapidated SJP.

Why on earth wasn’t Benitez given the 35 + 18 million spent on jolington and Saint maximin. Mike Ashley really knows he’s f***ed up this time.

Is it just me who thinks this 18 million fee is pretty low for a young and promising talent? I guess he’s only played in the French league and not particularly proven. But if he was English from championship you’d be looking at 30 mil

If we get this guy, I would love it if we went all out and got Harry Wilson and N’Soki. That should be enough until January I feel. We would have Joelinton and Gayle as ST and Saint-Maximin as a last resort ST.

The obvious thing would be to get another ST on top of these signings but we all know AshLie never does the obvious.

Thats what i was thinking and hoping even from last year that miggy would become our no 10. I have been dreaming of a Wilsom, Miggy, Saint Max and Joelinton on top combo for few days now what a front line that would be. Wilson looks unlikely but im hoping theres still more to come if we do sign up Saint Max.

We might be looking at a very good window here, especially for our standards. But then again anything is compared to us.

But most likely it’s because we will be relegated rather than ashLIE new found ambition. Also don’t expect a single player coming in January or the next several transfer windows.

Having lived through the miners strike in a pit town and seen peoples livelihoods and futures destroyed, communities torn apart and peoples futures taken away i find it ridiculous people are equating it to a boycott of a football club and throwing scab around

Its a sport ffs not peoples lives.

But if that comparison is used you would need 40% of strikers/ season ticket holders to vote for boycott for it to go ahead. Are 40% wanting to boycott will crowd be less than 32k, if not all season ticket holder’s who didn’t renew must now pay up and go to games

The FRC is presently conducting an investigation (“the Investigation”) into the conduct of Grant ThorntonUK LLP (“GT”)and an individual at GT (“Subject A”) in relation to the audit of the financial statements of SDI for the year ending 24 April 2016 (“the 2016 Financial Statements”). The Investigation arose out of reports aboutSDI’s subsidiary Sportsdirect.com Retail Ltd (“SDR”)engaging Barlin Delivery Ltd (“Barlin”) to provide delivery services to SDR’s customers. The owner and a director of Barlin during the relevant period wasJohn Ashley, the brother of Mike Ashley. Mike Ashleyis the founder of SDI and a director and majority shareholder of SDI during the relevant period. It appears that Barlin was engaged as part of a structure adopted by SDRon the advice of DeloitteLLPin an effort to ensure that SDRpaid VAT on its sales to EU customers in the UK rather than in the country of each relevant EU customer (“the Enhanced Structure”). The FRC is considering, among other things, the conduct of GT and Subject A in relation to the non-disclosure of the relationship between SDRand Barlin asone between related parties in the 2016 Financial Statements.

OP – that is a provisional yes. Will have to check Sunday train times or sweet talk the missus. (About an hour on the train for me)
At the Tottenham game I ended up dishing out leaflets on the corner of Strawberry Place and Leazes Park Road and missed one or two posters.

Recall I was all geared up to go to a tat outlet at Silverlink then it was declared a ruse.

Feel I would like to do something, myself and to support others.

agreed mate id settle for that as well but would be a very good window if that happened and we got another striker in. Still plenty to move out as well but cant believe the story that Stoke are baulking at 15 mill for Gayle unbelievable to think about it. Surely he is worth more than even 15 mill for what he can offer a championship team.
