Reports From France – Deal For Frenchman Complete With Medical Tomorrow

Get French Football News have sent out the following update regarding Newcastle’s deal for Allan Saint-Maximin. Three French outlets are reporting that the €18m plus add-ons deal is complete.

The deal apparently includes significant and easily attainable add-ons that make it very likely it will reach €22m (£20m). RMC and Soccer Link are reporting that the deal is complete while Nice Matin goes a step further to report that Saint-Maximin will have a medical tomorrow.

Nice Matin journalist William Humberset has sent the following tweet.

This tweet translates to:

Allan Saint-Maximin will have his medical tomorrow in Newcastle. OGC Nice is expected to pocket €20m, including a cash portion, for the transfer of the 22-year-old winger to the north of England

The Sun also has that the deal has been agreed.

It will be great if Newcastle can get the deal closed tomorrow or over the weekend.

I think the 14k drop in season tickets says all you need to know about the protests
I think it will be more next year when people quit the 10 year deal

Gayle is a one in two Champo scorer posada but not in the Prem. Not even close. He’s not good enough and now he’s 30 with expensive wages. Interesting to see what happens to him.

A good signing i think defo a bit of a raw talent and a little bit of a worry with attitude but a risk worth taking. This lad has bags of pace and lots of tricks hopefully he produces the goods on the pitch this season.

I hope and pray there is more to come and expect us to wrap up the signing of n’soki but i want another signing in the likes of Wilson or someone of the same calibre would really add some good quality to this team in the areas which are needed. But i expect we will only sign n’soki and this krath guy if thats his name.

Gayle is injured so won’t be going anywhere this window, maybe see 433 with dummet, schar, lascelles and yedlin, lobby Hayden and Almirante just in front of them and st maximim, Joe from Linton and Gayle up front……..once he’s fit…..that would be some pacy front 4 with steel in midfield and creativity …….

    The buys in summer 2015.
Mitro – big profit but failed at club.
M Bemba – Most of money back.
Wini – Short stay but 10M profit.
Townsend – panic buy but money back.
Saivet – the one out and out failure.
Thauvin – most money back but failed at club.

Shelvey – lad has played for us 3 years so worth the money.

Problem was not the investment it was the scatter gun approach. The players fit the profile of being the right age, money and appreciating in value.
Problem – making a team out of them.
Problem 2 the inept knacker McClaren.

Are we in for a repeat.

    ronaldo #31 last thread,

“f we had a manager that had good tactics then we could be a dangerous side when all are fit but typical, our manager don’t care for tactics.”

Did KK have tactics? Didn’t he just say ‘go out and enjoy yourselves and score more goals than them’ or words to that effect? If Bruce does the same with this front three combined with a strong central midfield pairing and Rafa’s solid defence we might surprise ourselves. It sounds like the players are responding to his loosening of the strict Rafa tactical constraints that served us so well but may have stifled creativity in some players.

    LGFUAD21 #9,

“I will be supporting Bruce because he’s a good guy and why wouldn’t you take the job if you were him but there’s is no doubt that he is well below Rafa as a coach.”

Well said. I agree 100%. Let’s give him a chance.

Why is it when we get a second rate manager (no disrespect to SB) they spend more money on players?
This owner has no strategy or plan which is why we’ve sold a lot for profit but been lumbered with others on high wages who we can’t offload!
This inevitably equates to a poor team that struggles.
However I have to say I’m looking forward to seeing Miggy, Joey and Maximin I the same team! (On tv)

    **********************************
Gayle is perhaps somewhere between Championship and Prem depending on who plays round him.
Point though he has the skill/knack of scoring.
Your level is a different thing.
Problem with Gayle is this. All he does is finnish. In another era perhaps that would have been enough.
Does not fit in with modern approach/tactics perhaps.

This guy looks like he can play in the Almiron no.10 role, or wider in a front three like last year. Despite the obvious ability he needs to run around, play to instruction and be an effective part of our defensive press, as well as finish and create, otherwise it’s a signing that won’t improve us as a unit. I’m looking forward to seeing him, but I’m a little apprehensive and would have preferred Bowen. Obviously hoping he is a responsible pro. This is the second big signing I don’t think Rafa would have wanted, so a little toey about it, even though I’m pleased the money is being spent.

You are in a very small minority when it comes to Benitez.
We would still be in the Championship if he hadn’t stayed here when he had the original offer from China!
