Reports From France – Deal For Frenchman Complete With Medical Tomorrow

Get French Football News have sent out the following update regarding Newcastle’s deal for Allan Saint-Maximin. Three French outlets are reporting that the €18m plus add-ons deal is complete.

The deal apparently includes significant and easily attainable add-ons that make it very likely it will reach €22m (£20m). RMC and Soccer Link are reporting that the deal is complete while Nice Matin goes a step further to report that Saint-Maximin will have a medical tomorrow.

Nice Matin journalist William Humberset has sent the following tweet.

This tweet translates to:

Allan Saint-Maximin will have his medical tomorrow in Newcastle. OGC Nice is expected to pocket €20m, including a cash portion, for the transfer of the 22-year-old winger to the north of England

The Sun also has that the deal has been agreed.

It will be great if Newcastle can get the deal closed tomorrow or over the weekend.

Yep it’s gone and I think it was Nelson St. Looked for it a few years ago when up with some of my family. Having moved away in 73 and not frequented area much since spent around 30 fruitless and embarrassing minutes traipsing around area at about 10:00 in evening desperate for a drink and determined to find it!

Eventually he put me out of my misery and looked it up and found something to effect it closed years before. Still reminded of it when back in town with quips of ” you sure you know the way or should I use phone map”.

Used to drink before games at various pubs over the years including Bacchus. Star on Westgate Road. Wellington , Blackie Boy or Old George depending on company. In 00’s and given our advancing age and finding likes of Bacchus, Hotspur too noisy for craic we settled on New Bridge at Manors for few years.

As from Shields originally didn’t drink often in town apart from Thursday night’s after work when likes of Old George, Monkey bar Printers Pie were usual haunts but must have been others now lost in mists of time and my aging memory 🙁

“I wouldn’t have been at all surprised had he sold Perez, not gone for Rondon and just got a couple of acquisitions this window on the cheap… Sibierski types and not parted with that 85m”

Even for Ashley, that would have been completely out of character, because it would have got us relegated. I’m not surprised at all by the willingness to spend now. Rondon and Perez needed to be replaced to secure our place in the EPL and the money is there.

It may now get trickier to get the club to spend further, because we probably have enough now to stay up, but we still quite obviously need to find replacements for Joselu, Barreca and Diame, so I do expect to see more come in.

Spending 85m on 3 players is “in character”

All 3 ,as individuals, have been bought for a higher amount than our previous transfer record.

When it comes to Ashley Spending on players these fees are certainly “completely out of character”.

Last season Barecca played one game for us – so surely replacing him can’t be difficult!

How Rafa saw Joselu good enough to play as many games as he did is beyond me. Rafa is undoubtedly a world class manager, but putting Joselu on the pitch does make you scratch your head. He was shocking, wasn’t he. Again replacing him would be as easy as promoting the woman who makes tea in the canteen and sending her on.
Surprised we let Diame go, he was as good as the rest in the middle of the park. Rather him go and we keep Hayden though
