Allan Saint-Maximin has been seen arriving at Newcastle’s training ground this morning for his medical. So it looks like the report from Nice Matin about the medical taking place today was correct.

This is excellent news and all reports point to the player wanting to come to Newcastle which is always a positive. We suppose we will soon have a new flair attacker who loves headbands as he appears to be wearing his Gucci headband in the picture above.

Comment #3When ASM was first linked I described on here how he’s exciting but frustrating as his end product isn’t what you’d expect.
However he’s 22. Last season spent a lot of time up front after disputes with balotelli, viera and the club. Stats were 6 goals 3 assists. Not great but not bad in a primarily defensive team.
Season before, more time on the wing, 3 goals, 7 assists in less games. Scored a couple in the Europa league too if you want to add them.
To me that’s not too bad for 21/22 year olds. The fact is if he was getting double figures his price would not be the £18m or so we are reportedly getting him for and he’d likely have already got a big move.
Saying that, it’s frustrating seeing him do all the hard work and mess up simple situations but again, he figures aren’t actually too bad for a 21/22 year old player.

Comment #4This bus is bloody fast ..
Think it’s time to out Rafa to bed, with the squad he had he did a great job and also united the majority of fans as well as doing a ton of community work. His contract ended , he didn’t walk out nor was he sacked.
He asked for conditions to renew , fatty didn’t like them ..end of story .
I don’t think Bruce is up to much as a manager and the way he stitched up SW wasn’t great but like pards and McLaren he’s aware the fans will probably never sing his name.
I won’t be going to home games and I’ve never shopped in Ashley’s tat shops – I will be supporting the lads at as many away games as I can get to – howay the lads

Comment #6Jesus, is some fat sweaty bloke in a toon top and trackies lying vigilantly in wait in an allotment in Benton, among the leafy greens and black fly, at the ready at any and every moment to take a sneaky photo on his iPod to be relayed instantly to snapchat, of any and every player that may or might not not turn up for a medical. That’s not a love affair. That’s stalking, you crazy f@ck. 🙂

Comment #7Excellent news at last! Great to see him at Newcastle to sign on the dotted line. Will this make him eligible for tomorrow’s friendly then?
Can’t wait to see him play for us! If I were at Newcastle I would boycott to stand up to the fat bastard but as I am not there I have no say on the matter really. Though I would have definitely gone to away games because a front three of Almiron, Joelinton and Saint-Maximin would be amazing to see.

Comment #9“Ayoze Pérez, signed from Newcastle for £30m, is ideally suited to succeeding where players such as Kelechi Iheanacho and Islam Slimani have failed. Pérez gives Rodgers precious options because he can play either as a partner for Vardy or as a winger; in either role he is skilful and clever enough to link play and deadly enough to finish most chances. Think of him as a belated upgrade on dear Shinji Okazaki, with far more goals plus occasional razzle-dazzle on the wing.”
Let’s be frank, St Maximim is not an upgrade. No offense, but he simply isn’t.

There really is no need to counter any points made. You must have more pressing things to attend to. Just do something useful and watch the cricket!

Comment #12This kid is the one signing I wanted us to make so hopefully we don’t mess it up now. Bags of pace, unplayable when he turns on the flair and capable of causing havoc. At £18m or whatever he’s an absolute steal.
Miggy, Joelinton and Saint-Maximin on paper is a very exciting strike force so hopefully now we can start playing some entertaining football for once.
Still think we need another striker (or keep Gayle wherever he even is?), a strong defensive mid to replace Diame and a couple of full backs.
Personally I’d like us to go for Jetro Willems or N’soki but we’ll see.
Striker wise, I’d rather take Sturridge on a free than Carroll and Austin or even take a risk and bring in Balotelli who’s also free.

Comment #13Lesh: Oh, there is certainly a need to counterbalance some of the bile on here. The 3 stooges – you, Tsunki and Abe Simpson are particularly abrasive and shout down anybody with a different opinion. And, of course, there is the Frog who seems to now have a following but has always called people shills even when they say “I Hate Ashley”.
So there is certainly a need and a reason for a counter-argument.
And Tsunki even thinks he is funny but is about as funny as a stoat in your underpants.

Comment #14Ive got to say that front 3 of Almiron, Linton and Double Maxim look freckin rapid, i cant remember such a quick front line. Looking forward to seeing a bit more attack minded football next season, but only on tv, im not lining the Fat boys pockets.

Comment #16Not sure why people are talking about Perez being sold as a big issue. He got 12 goals last season but he only put his heart into playing as we approached the last third of it; that’s his usual trick as he looked to put himself at the front of the shop window. For most of his time, he’s been bang average, (less than), and while I appreciate his 12 goals were vital his consistency, (and at times, dedication), left much to be desired. Selling him for £30M was a no brainier. The disappointment is we’ve not replaced him with a proven goalscorer in the PL but that costs way too much money for this club.
Glad we’ve got two exciting prospects but I’ve always thought that ‘prospects’ in any business or game need experience to guide them. We just don’t have that in the team and our ‘coach’, ahem, leaves much to be desired.
I just hope that Almiron, Joelinton and ASM just scare the crap out of opponents with pace

Tony, thanks for that, I’m laughing my arse off about the stoat. Tsunki used to be a bit funny although always Jails dog, but the whole Ashley mess has turned him into a drone of epic proportions.
