Link Of Young Defender To Newcastle Seems A Stretch

The Daily Mail reported earlier this week that Steve Bruce was keen on bringing Manchester United youngster Axel Tuanzebe in on loan this summer.

Tuanzebe is a very good young central defender who spent last year on loan with Aston Villa. Though he was out with a foot injury for 3 months, he still managed to play 30 games and play a massive role in Villa’s promotion.

It was Steve Bruce who brought the then twenty-year-old to Villa last summer. He also had him play right-back primarily before Bruce was replaced by Dean Smith in early October.

It is interesting that Tuanzebe is linked with Newcastle recently. Newcastle are well stocked in the center of defense and the twenty-one year old would certainly not get a game ahead of Jamaal Lascelles, Fabian Schar, or Florian Lejeune when fit.

But the fact that Bruce used Tuanzebe as a right-back does lend some credence to the link. Though, we can’t imagine that Manchester United would want to loan out their central defender only to be played out of position.

It seems to us that this link is due to the connection between Tuanzebe with Bruce at Villa last season, Newcastle’s failed attempts to get right-back Emil Krafth from Amiens, and the Harry Maguire transfer saga with Manchester United.

We don’t see too much in this link as it doesn’t make much sense for Manchester United and the development of their youngster.

Neil Harrison is now saying to get behind Bruce and the team. In as many words saying that Rafa is in the past and we should get over it. He even said it to his Dad.

Are all of you yellers going to shout him down as well?

It is sort of funny that we are playing Arsenal on “Boycott Day”. I remember watching their games in the last few years of Wenger. They were finishing 4th and a lot of their fans who had paid 1,000s more for tickets than at NUFC were staying away. Their fan youtube channel was full of wild and crazy rants about the owners and Wenger.

It didn’t affect Sky one little bit. They still picked their games and the commentators just ignored the empty seats. Didn’t even mention them.

I predict there will be more than 5k missing from the Arsenal game, I also predict that Steve Bruce will fail to get us above 10th place (even if we do spend the money on new signings) however, one thing in Mrs doubtfires favour ,Rafa has left a well drilled unit, capable of closing the door on the opposition, if mrs doubtfire can get the forward players to link and create for each other while still keeping it tight at the back, I predict we won’t go down, I also predict Dubravka will be our best goalkeeper and mrs doubtfire will have the reddest nose in the club, I predict Lee charnley will not grow his hair and the slug will drink beer this season

Sorry, was away there for a bit.

Irishrob you were asking why I rated Schar, Lejeune and Lascelles.

I think they’re very good in a side that has been incredibly underfunded. The likes of liverpool and man city have superb defences but that is because they employ so much pressure on opposition teams and make life a bit easier for their own defence.

Some key metrics that you’d rate a defender on are clearances, blocks, interceptions, aerial duels won, and recoveries. Our 3 rate well in comparison to the best CB in the premiership.

Having said that Rafa managed to get the absolute most out of them and they would have gone into every single game confident that they had a clear, well defined and well understood plan for every opponent.

It remains to be seen what Bruce can bring to the mix.

If I thought there was any chance that a boycott would force Ashley out I would support it.

Glazers are still at Man U. Kroenke is still at Arsenal. The only time when the owners leave is when they are proven to be crooks. Maybe that is our best hope with Ashley.

But even proven crooks like Abramovich are still there !!!!

    Repost…..

    Posada

Surely it must occur to you that if everyone turned up to have a look at how many stayed away before deciding whether to not turn up, then a boycott will by definition fail.

Wouldn’t it make sense for waverers to stay away and then decide whether a boycott’s shows any sign of developing into a meaningful long-term protest?

By showing signs of wavering, you and others are gifting Ashley a PR victory. Look back at the miners strikes – solid but as soon as the strikers saw scanning, Thatcher made a meal of it.

Learn from history – you know it makes sense!

I also find it funny that I was referring to you sheep on here as the collective a couple of weeks ago and now all of the disparate groups who are for the boycott and couldn’t organize a p!ss up in a brewery are calling themselves THE COLLECTIVE.

It will be interesting to see what the crowd is for the st ettienne game, traditionally there are between 25-35k for the home friendly……..this may be a guide to how the fans are feeling, again, I usually go (have done for the last 8 seasons but am missing this one (as well as boycotting the Arsenal game) I don’t pay for Sly and don’t buy from any slug shop, when I have gone to the game, I never buy anything inside or from the club shop, the only money that the slug gets is my prepaid season tickets (10 year deal) which will be cancelled in February unless the slug is gone……I don’t want to miss games, but enough is enough, I’m not telling anyone else to boycott, nor am I telling anyone not to……it’s choice, freedom to act …..we have that over here , Mayberry it’s different in baloneyland (wherever that is) but I , like a few others are trying to make a stand against the owner, 12 years of Denis wise, joke kinnear, fraudew and John Charver, even the 2 Steves are not worthy but to allow Rafa to leave when all he needed to do was allow him to spend the clubs money to improve the playing staff, coaching and training facilities and try to make the club successful is the straw that breaks the camels back for me……..I saw it coming though, the slug is a shopkeeper looking for the quick sale, Rafa is an engineer, analyzing how to make everything better, the slug does not like change, Rafa will adapt and change to improve……..like oil and water…….the slug is the oil…..dirty,smelly covers everything it touches and volatile to the point of destruction, Rafa is the water, the lifeblood and transparent, the essence of life, the promise of possible greatness…….it was never going to work and in this case opposites definitely do not attract
