Newcastle United Confirm Jetro Willems On Loan

Newcastle United have announced the loan signing of Frankfurt left-back Jetro Willems. Newcastle United will have the option of making the signing permanent at the end of the year.

This is what Steve Bruce has said about his new signing:

“Jetro brings a wealth of experience into the dressing room and I’m very pleased to have brought him here.

“He has played at the highest level and is naturally left-footed so he’ll give us another strong option on that side.”

Here is a series of tweets from Newcastle announcing the arrival of the Dutch left-back.

My personal impression of your take on Rafa is that you neglect/gloss over his strong points and focus mainly on his faults. It’s only balanced because in your view everyone is too kind to Rafa.

If you want to rank managers and say that Keegan and SBR were 10 out of 10 and John Carver was a 1/10. I’d probably say that Rafa was an 8. Maybe a 9 for some and 7 for others but pretty damn good all said.

Thing is there’s a lot of good in an 8/10 manager. You on the other hand seem obsessed with the 2/10 he didn’t have and make it sound like you think he was poor.

And having to work for Ashley is something else to take into consideration all together. There’s no way Keegan could have played his famous style of attacking football with the squad we’ve had the past couple of seasons. Not and win games at any rate.

I think you enjoy throwing in the Rafa digs as often as you do just to wind people up. More like Wumster Mag

    Good luck Mr. Willems.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Gini put in a good word for us.

That’s a fair summary on rafa, I’d give him between a 7/10 to 8/10. The good thing with rafa was he had a vision for the club both on and off the pitch, but some of the football was mind numbing however he got the results with the very limited squad and resources he had.

Not a bad signing. Think we’ll go for Bowen, Harry Wilson and Lemina next and sell Hayden and Gayle

    frog,

    How’s SD accounts looking?

Is Jabba down to payday loans yet?

You’ve said he is about to get nicked more times than you claim he has faked a sale.

Which Polis do you think will not arrest him next?

Will it be last Monday, next Monday or the Monday after next?

    frog,

Jabba didn’t like it because Rafa gave us hope.

Is that why he has broken our transfer record three times in 6 months…

To dash our hopes even further?

Which nick will Jabba be locked up in next?

    On which Monday?

If he can rediscover the form from a few years ago he’ll be a great addition. Massive improvement on the Barreca loan!

Great news. Now just need 1 GK, 1 RB, a holding midfielder to replace Diame, a playmaker to challenge Almiron, a winger to replace Kenedy and 2 strikers.

That’s the issue in my eyes, fans had hope under rafa yet Ashley remained owner, it’s as if Ashley had been removed. Doesn’t matter who the manager is the problem is ashley and with him here no matter who manages the team they’ll forever be hamstrung and hope is dead till he goes

Toonces yes i should have highlighted other good stuff like his injuries record but others have been highlighting the positives till the cows come home. If you disagree with stuff i have said, no worries. One of the more laughable things i found was in the weeks after he arrived, he would say something about the club ir fans, something positive. And everyone would fawn. If mccardew said the same theyd have been ignored or pilloried!

Agreed. Rafa mainly brought a professionalism, respectability and credibility to the club it had been sorely lacking.

We know his style (and success) is based upon building out from the back upon a foundation of strong team defensive principles. It can be hard on the eyes but it worked for us in terms of results. And when you are short on quality and even more short on pace in the side you look like we did these past few seasons. When Almiron joined and we had genuine pace in the attack, the whole look of the team changed.

Maybe Bruce can build upon what Rafa started. UNtil Ashley sells what else can you hope for?

I notice I received the predictable, spiteful, utter bilious reply. You were the one who mentioned that we were not the only club to take ages. And as for ‘spending days looking et.c’…. Really? Grow up, fella. Everything I said regarding NUFCs past transfer issues is laid bare for all to see. Comparing it to Man U signing an international CB proven at premiership level for 80mil, just because it took a long time, is just silly. The only agenda here is yours. You takehissy-fits every time Mikey is questioned.

I wish Rafa was still here…

    But…

He played Almiron wide and allowed Ritchie to continually move into the last third and block him out.

Because of that we only saw glimpses of what Almiron can really do and, in truth, his performances were a tad overhyped imo.

If Bruce plays 352 and allows Joe and Al to stay in the oppo’s half and let a five man midfield win the ball – we could be devastating on the break.

With Rondon, as much as I liked him, it was hoof the ball up to him and hope he holds onto it long enough for the rest of the team to move up.

The other way to play is to have Joe and Max in the two and have Al in the centre of the MF 5 with Ritchie as the left wing back – the 5 in midfield could then be Hayden, Longstaff, Almiron, Shelvey, Ritchie.

That would allow Jo, Max and Al to fly into the oppo when we break play down.

No way would Rafa have played that type of formation.

Billson, you should know by now that you cannot say something negative re rafa and still rate him overall. Its contrary to rafa taliban teaching and can result in one of any ten or so hard core members shouting at u
