The Sun’s Alan Nixon is reporting that Steve Bruce is pushing the club to bring in right-back Ahmed Elmohamady.
Steve Bruce ready to fight Toon hierarchy in deal for favourite Elmohamady | @reluctantnicko https://t.co/HbdJrXDi7A pic.twitter.com/TD75Ag9t0O

This link is not too surprising in the fact that Elmohamady was brought to each of the three clubs he’s been with in England by Steve Bruce.
The thirty-one-year-old joined Sunderland in 2010 from Egyptian club ENPPI. He would then follow Bruce to Hull City in 2013 before joining his current club Aston Villa in 2017.
Newcastle reportedly want to bring in a right wing-back and have tried to get now 25-year-old Emil Krafth (his birthday was yesterday) in from SC Amiens. Krafth did not feature in the final preseason match for Amiens against Leganes on Saturday.
Alan Nixon is saying that Bruce prefers the experienced Egyptian while the Newcastle hierarchy want to bring in someone younger. This will be a very interesting development to see if the board actually do bring in Elmohamady.
We don’t think they will as he will turn 32 next month and it is unlikely that Newcastle will break their policy this summer. This was a point of contention between Rafa and Mike Ashley and we just can’t see them capitulate this early in Bruce’s tenure.
There also may not be too much in this to begin with as it could just be a case of Bruce mentioning Elmohamady at some point when talking to the transfer team.
Javier Manquillo has looked excellent thus far in preseason and will most likely start the season as the right wing-back. We do think the club will try to strengthen the position over the next five days.

Comment #5“Lewis Gibson may just be the breakout star of Everton’s pre-season so far. The centre-back has the right levels of aggression, toughness and tenacity, and has wowed fans with a string of impressive performances. He has certainly wowed Marco Silva, with the Portuguese manager handing him at least 45 minutes in three of the last five matches.”

Comment #10Hard to believe that either Elmomahady or Krafth is actually better than what we have.
Is Yedlin unsettled, is he long term injured?

Comment #11Hayden often is last one out applauding the fans at end of the match, win or lose. Lascelles is another that often with him but didn’t spot him.
Did notice though Lascelles was first to Matty Longstaff just after he scored. He was rapid lol, who said he had no pace?!

Comment #18Frog, your lack of nufc knowledge has been firmly established tonight. Its possible you have never been to an nufc match, although my instincts are that you were brought to one once as a child and it was somewhat formative. Hating ashley is fine – work away – but dont be surprised if people dont take you seriously. The reason for that is that you are in no way embedded in the club. You have no attachment beyond an obsession with our stupid owner. So you have no real credibility. No history. No depth. Exposed.

Comment #25Willems has been sidelined a bit after today and didn’t get much game time but I think he showed a considerable amount. Had a quick give and go but didn’t get the return ball. Looked quick in that movement.
Few other flashes when he had the ball, looked comfortable on the ball and naturally seemed inclined to attack. If he settles and his defensive game is better than in his early career, he’ll be a very astute signing for the team.

Yes it was good to see. If we keep the core group of players from past few years, Lascelles, Hayden, Ritchie etc we’ll continue have a good spirit and commitment whoever comes in to the team.

Comment #32Mobile front two, in a 352. Joelinton has good movement and pace, as do St- Maximim, Almiron, and Muto, who has very good movement, in the final third, although is less rapid.
In that system Gayle can contribute. Mmmm, maybe he is staying, by actual design.
Still be happier with a bigger more traditional target man though, to understudy and compete with Joelinton, and certainly still need another central mid.

Comment #33Remember when Willems started rumours. Posting a photo of himself in a plane to Newcastle with a tweet flying to my future. Turns out he was visiting Winjaldum who had just started playing for us. Jetro was quite sort after at that time. Well he’s also got his dream move. It’s looking good.

Comment #35Canada is wonderful Tony, particularly for a road trip. Vast and quite unpopulated, big blue skies, pure air, and with an incredibly diverse natural beauty. I’m gonna do a big road trip from Vancouver up to Alaska late next summer with no particular agenda or travel plan in mind. Remarkable sense of freedom.

Total nonsense
As for wanting Cashley gone, the only way he’ll leave is if someone buys the club.
Having a ground occupied by only away supporters might hurt his bank balance, but wouldn’t make enough difference to force him out.
It would probably encourage some players into wanting to leave though. After all, who’d want to play for a club who’s support don’t even turn up, might as well play for little boro or the scum.
So whilst the boycott is understandable and may prove a point to those in the media, it’ll make about as much difference as trying to put a volcano out with a bucket of water.
Rafa is gone, Cashley is still here, BZG was bs, Bruce is now the gaffer and the new additions bring with them positivity and reason for optimism.
We will back them because we’re not fickle, we’re proud and loyal to those who represent our dreams on the Park.

Comment #40There was a couple of very good passing interchanges between Willems and Minimaxi, in the highlights, could be a real threat for us on the left.
