Freddie Woodman started his Swansea City loan spell in fine fashion with a start in their 2-1 win against Hull City in the Championship. Freddie just joined Swansea on Thursday but has been able to get his chance at first-team football.

This is a very good start for both youngsters at their respective new clubs. Let’s hope they can continue to develop and get the first-team experience they need.

It’s not like Brewce has taken over a team where the manager was sacked because the team weren’t performing, we were playing well towards the end of last season. Brewcey has taken over a well drilled team minus it’s majority of goals.

Comment #8Good game, we looked more atracking than last season where we kept games tight and countered.
We had a look of Crystal palace about us, add this to our decent midfield and strong defence, we might be ok next season.
We definitely need another striker, or 2. Injuries to Joelinton or Almiron and we’re fo0ked.
Only a pre season but we looked comfortable against a decent team

Comment #21Maybe so lindis, doubt it though. Previous players have said he is inventive. We coyld get our arses handed to us, but lets be clear – if we were losing and playing 442 (can still be a brilliant system) and banging it long, Les Miserables would be spewing all over him and the blog. Lets just keep hoping. It could be messy at times.

Comment #28Obvious from the start that Joelinton was the new centre forward. Well obvious to some.
Despite this we’ve had amatooooooor managers, new students of the game and an associated rag bag collection of greenhorns who said he wasn’t or that we would be buying a CF.
At least Brucie has now put that to bed with his remarks about not looking for any other strikers.
Whilst not exactly equating – nearly as bad as saying Shearer was a fullback.

Comment #31I see Fulham’s Championship all-stars got off to a losing start against Barnsley. Tried to buy PL survival as if that’s all it takes and now trying to buy their way back up.
Scott Parker, Woodgate and a few other rookie managers in for a slog in that division.

Comment #35An injury to Joelinton and who do we put up front? Gayle or Muto? They won’t cut it in the Prem but it’s all we have. I still think we’ll be short on goals unless Miggy and Longstaff provide them….

Manquillo – 7
Fernandez – 7
Schar – 8
Lascelles – 7
Aarons – 7
Shelvey – 8
Hayden – 7
Longstaff – 7
Almiron – 7
Joelinton – 8.5
Notable subs
M. Longstaff – 8
ASmaximin – 7
Willems – 7.5
Muto – 6.5
Matty Longstaff is almost as an exciting prospect as his brother, ASM some great moments and some cheap giveaways but looks nice and direct. Muto actually made some great runs scored a great finish but ruled offside but then missed a point blank header and missed the target when through on goal.
Joelinton 2 starts and 2 goals, he is looking like he will hopefully be able to produce the goods this year. Almirons play was good and his goals are coming. Shelvey loving feeding the balls through as predicted

Comment #40In my opinion Dwight Gayle will be a better backup striker. He doesn’t look like he can hold the responsibility of that famous number nine shirt. Give him less responsibility and pressure he may respond better
