Newcastle Midfielder Uncertain Of Future But Enjoying Life Under New Coaches

Isaac Hayden spoke to BBC Newcastle after yesterday’s win over St-Etienne and some of what he says has caused a bit of concern.

Matthew Raisbeck, who commented on the game yesterday for Newcastle, posted the following comments by Isaac.

Steve Bruce has been very open in his comments about his feelings that Isaac will stay at Newcastle this summer. Earlier in the week, Bruce said the following about his midfielder:

“He’s another really good young player who I had the privilege to work with at Hull.

“All the indications are positive, so let’s hope we can persuade him to stay and play his football at Newcastle.

“Certainly, that’s what I want.

This mirrored earlier comments Bruce had made and there were even reports that Steve is trying to tie Isaac and four other first-team players to new contracts. Those players are Jonjo Shelvey, Matt Ritchie, Martin Dubravka, and Sean Longstaff.

What Isaac says in his comments to the BBC don’t really change what Bruce has said. Bruce is a very positive coach and his outlook is that he is confident that Isaac will stay this summer.

Hayden is just being realistic in his approach. He, no doubt, is willing to listen to contract offers from the club but he is still not 100% convinced he is staying. There is nothing wrong with that.

He may not get the contract offer he wants or another team may come in for him in the last few days of the window that could be a better fit for him and his family. That is just telling it like it is.

What we find positive about Isaac’s statement is that he really seems to be enjoying his time here over the past few weeks. This is good news and has been reflected in the comments of many players since the new coaching staff has arrived.

It will be a nervy few days as this transfer window closes, there is no doubt about that. It is important that this team is kept together and if anyone does leave it must be for a ridiculous offer. That includes Isaac Hayden.

There are the makings of an exciting team here that will no doubt also be a frustrating one at times. We are pleased with the transfer window so far but there is still work to be done.

We are also very impressed with the professionalism of the squad and their ability to focus through what has been a very tumultuous summer.

Lemina would be a nice addition but do you think Soton would sell him to a rival?

Quite possibly the plan if Hayden leaves will be to bring through Sangare into the first team.

Not sure that Sangare is ready but he seemed to be close to making the step up at the end of last season.

He played for Liberia at ACON this offseason as well. The international experience will be a huge plus for him.

Hopefully they don’t just say that if Hayden is off that we Colbackayoko to step in.

The defender’s frustration is a familiar sight, as Jones has endured a torrid four seasons of injuries. This is the longest spell of absence of them all, costing him the chance to feature in 19 games over a three-month period, and there have been injuries all over his body: head, shoulder, back, hip, groin, hamstring, knee, calf, shin, foot, and — repeatedly — ankle problems.

    Readingmag #42,

Agreed. Reasons why we don’t want Phil Jones…

No. 1. The last thing we need is another centre back. It is the strongest and most adequately covered position in our squad. If there is money to spend then striker or RWB are far higher priorities.

No. 2. He is utterly cr@p – a liability. I believe that Ciaran Clark is a better defender and he is our fifth best CB.

    Hopefully it’s all lies.

We should ask Faiq Bolkiah (u14 player at Leicester) for some help with finding a buyer. Nephew of the Sultan of Brunei. His dad once spent £17m to keep him entertained by hiring Micheal Jackson for a private concert. Sultan has blown £34bn in his life allegedly. Surely £370m won’t matter for him. Imagine the seens.

dont know if anyone remembers this that we use to sing at STJAMES

    Manfred Mann’s Earth Band Lyrics
Play the Manfred Mann’s Earth Band Quiz
    on Melody Facts
    “The Mighty WYN ”

    Everybody’s building ships and boats
    Some are building monuments
    Others jotting down notes
    Everybody’s in despair
    Every girl and boy
But when Quinn the Eskimo gets here
    Everybody’s gonna jump for joy

Come all without, come all within
You’ll not see nothing like the mighty WYN
Come all without, come all within
You’ll not see nothing like the mighty WYN

Let me do what I wanna do, I like my sugar sweet
But jumping queues and making haste
It ain’t my cup of meat
Everyone’s beneath the trees feeding pigeons on a limb
But when WYN the Eskimo gets here
All the pigeons gonna run to him

Come all without, come all within
You’ll not see nothing like the mighty WYN
Come all without, come all within
You’ll not see nothing like the mighty WYN

Let me do what I wanna do, I like my sugar sweet
But jumping queues and making haste
    Ain’t my cup of meat
Nobody can get no sleep, there’s someone on everyone’s toes
But when WYN the Eskimo gets here
    Everybody’s gonna want to doze

Come all without, come all within
You’ll not see nothing like the mighty WYN
Come all without, come all within
You’ll not see nothing like the mighty WYN
    [repeat to fade]

yeah we changed it from QUINN …
