Newcastle Midfielder Uncertain Of Future But Enjoying Life Under New Coaches

Isaac Hayden spoke to BBC Newcastle after yesterday’s win over St-Etienne and some of what he says has caused a bit of concern.

Matthew Raisbeck, who commented on the game yesterday for Newcastle, posted the following comments by Isaac.

Steve Bruce has been very open in his comments about his feelings that Isaac will stay at Newcastle this summer. Earlier in the week, Bruce said the following about his midfielder:

“He’s another really good young player who I had the privilege to work with at Hull.

“All the indications are positive, so let’s hope we can persuade him to stay and play his football at Newcastle.

“Certainly, that’s what I want.

This mirrored earlier comments Bruce had made and there were even reports that Steve is trying to tie Isaac and four other first-team players to new contracts. Those players are Jonjo Shelvey, Matt Ritchie, Martin Dubravka, and Sean Longstaff.

What Isaac says in his comments to the BBC don’t really change what Bruce has said. Bruce is a very positive coach and his outlook is that he is confident that Isaac will stay this summer.

Hayden is just being realistic in his approach. He, no doubt, is willing to listen to contract offers from the club but he is still not 100% convinced he is staying. There is nothing wrong with that.

He may not get the contract offer he wants or another team may come in for him in the last few days of the window that could be a better fit for him and his family. That is just telling it like it is.

What we find positive about Isaac’s statement is that he really seems to be enjoying his time here over the past few weeks. This is good news and has been reflected in the comments of many players since the new coaching staff has arrived.

It will be a nervy few days as this transfer window closes, there is no doubt about that. It is important that this team is kept together and if anyone does leave it must be for a ridiculous offer. That includes Isaac Hayden.

There are the makings of an exciting team here that will no doubt also be a frustrating one at times. We are pleased with the transfer window so far but there is still work to be done.

We are also very impressed with the professionalism of the squad and their ability to focus through what has been a very tumultuous summer.

    Hi Micky,
Like many others on this blog…… I’m very grateful for your input. You passed info on in good faith!

It certainly wasn’t your fault that Ashley moved the goalposts and asked for another £10m or whatever the amount it happened to be.

Ashley is the king of p!$$ takers in that respect he’s top of the league.

In every other respect he’s down at the bottom!!!
