The Telegraph are reporting that Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle is still in demand by Championship clubs despite Steve Bruce’s assertion that he wants him to play a part at Newcastle this season.
Jason Burt asserts that Slaven Bilic and West Brom are pushing to get Dwight Gayle back on loan this upcoming season after he starred for them last term. Bilic just joined the Championship club this summer but sees Dwight Gayle as vital to their promotion chances.
West Brom signed striker Kenneth Zohore from Cardiff this summer for £8m but have lost both Gayle and Jay Rodriguez from last season’s strike force. Rodriguez joined Burnley in a £5m move this summer.
Leeds and Stoke City are also reportedly very keen on acquiring Gayle this summer who scored 24 goals at the Hawthorns last season.
Dwight Gayle– give me a call Slaven
The Telegraph has also added that Dwight Gayle is not pleased that he lost the number 9 shirt to new £36m signing Joelinton. They also write that Gayle is very keen to return to West Brom next season.
On Saturday after Newcastle’s win over St-Etienne, Steve Bruce had said he was happy with the strikers at the club. That included Dwight Gayle who is still struggling for fitness and has not played a part in any pre-season action.
Bruce seems keen to keep Gayle as he has tried to sign him in the past.
Says he's not fit. "We hoped he'd be ready after China but he's gone backwards. I've tried to buy him before."
— Mark Douglas (@MsiDouglas) August 3, 2019
It will be interesting to see what comes of this news. Gayle can still do a job at Newcastle we feel.
However, if we could get a decent fee for him that in turn could be used to get a better striker, then we would be all for it.
The Telegraph is reporting that West Brom are pushing for a loan deal at the moment. Though they did get £16.5m for Salomon Rondon in his deal to Dalian Yifang and currently have a net gain of around £12m in fees this window.

Comment #2We need to buy before we sell him. Gayle is just not good enough for the prem, even as a back up.
Get in a speed merchant and Carroll on a low salary but big play bonuses etc

Serious question. Why do you defend jabba so much?.Take the football side out of it for a second and he is hated in the business world. What has this man done in life to deserve such a stout defense of him or positive words?,he is a horrible b#stard in all aspects.Add to that what he has done to us and i will never understand why people defend him.

Comment #9Gayle is not pleased he lost the number 9 shirt to Joelintoon. Is that a joke? I hope it is, even if he was playing at Newcastle last season which he wadnt he still wouldn’t deserve the number 9.
I hope this is the media making that up, I hope hes not that deluded to think he should be number 9. Pmsl

Comment #10As far as back up goes I’m of the impression that Gayle is an improvement on Joselu. He is capable of giving us 6 maybe 7 goals as a second choice. Whereas Joselu is 2 or maybe 3 goal second choice striker. That’s improving the squad in my opinion.
Which player will Leicester chase? Lascelles? 30-40 million?

Sorry, you’re wrong, I know kids who’ve been working it, they go in the hope they’ll see the match.
4 hours on a match day.
Hundreds of hours, how?
It’s in a bar that your drink comes in a plastic cup, it’s not a cocktail bar with fresh ingredients to prepare.
A weekly £40 shop from 4 hours, I doubt that very much, lucky if it was half of that.
No I dont give a toss about students, I didn’t hear yourself or jib complaining when Ashley sacked all the catering and bar staff to bring in outside workers on less hours.
People who’d worked at the club for years..
They were on real hours, that’s why they got the bullet, shame you weren’t so vocal then

Comment #22Championship teams only want to Loan him because they know he is guaranteed goals, but they are the same as us they wont want him in the premiership (must be frustrating for Gayle)… But i think we should only sell, not loan.

Comment #24So reading all the comments from the players it seems like it was just Rondon and Perez disappointed with the mismanagement and complete lack of ambition. The rest are seemingly happy to start each season knowingly in a relegation battle while the lesser players throw the cups all’s well then.

I can’t understand why people would still want to go.The goal last season under Rafa was stay up,after all those relegation battles, seasons of anguish for supporters that was our goal again last season. So i’m not exited about the season at all,no cup runs,no Europe.I said the other day if i had to come up with my top 3 Seasons under jabba it would be the season we finished 5th and the 2 championship seasons were we at least had the illusion at least, for a season,of being a team that actually wanted to achieve something, that how desolate it is with jabba at the helm.I won’t slag anyone off for not going though, people have to make their own mind up.

Comment #29I never even give it a second thought about the number 9 Jersey, I remember Sir Les giving his up for Shearer but I think that was because of the local connection, I wonder if Gayle had even been consulted, given the tawdry nature of our management, I somehow doubt it.

hibbit – you say supporters who attend matches from now on will have to live with their conscience?
Don’t think so.
I, and I’m sure the vast majority of fans, have absolutely no conscience whatsoever about supporting NUFC at games.
Don’t tar us with your brush.
Bills Son Is Back
i’m sure you don’t have a conscience after reading the drivel you continue to post, i’m also sure you don’t have a memorandum to speak for any one but yourself, don’t try and pass your views off as the views of the majority as there clearly not,
and by the way i would take great pleasure in taring YOU with that brush

I know you’re still lurking under your rock waiting to strike. You learned your lesson from Mclarengate so are holding back this time. If Brewcey does well you’ll slither out and you won’t be able to stay away. If he bombs you’ll stay under your rock. So easy to read!

Comment #35MrMojoBinRisin76 – why do I defend Ashley?
Simple, I don’t.
Saying I’m going tto continue going to matches…
That I no conscience doing so…
That I don’t hate Ashley (wish he wasn’t here, but hate? No.)
That I don’t call him a FCB slime ball in every post…
That there is no guarantee a new owner would be any better…
That I don’t believe he fabricated the BZG fiasco or Staveley or Kenyon…
That I don’t believe he pays shills to post on this blog…
I just post it as I see it.
The blinkered Ashley haters call that defending, I call it a balanced opinion.
