Newcastle’s Fourth Senior Signing Reported To Be Imminent

There are various reports out today that Newcastle United are close to their fourth senior signing of the summer.

According to French outlet Courrier Picard, Newcastle are set to sign Amiens Swedish right-back Emil Krafth imminently.

Newcastle have already had a €1.5M offer turned down for the Swedish International who played for French Ligue 1 club Amiens on loan from Bologna last season.

He signed on with the French club earlier this summer, with Amiens having an option to buy as part of the loan agreement.

But he was left out of the side who played Leganes over the weekend as Newcastle continued to negotiate the price and the report is that he will sign soon for Newcastle.

25-year-old Swedish right-back Emil Krafth – 4th senior signing?

We hope that’s true.

The 20 times capped Swedish International has been reported to be very keen to sign on at Newcastle, and we only want players who want to come to Tyneside.

If we can get the Swede into the club we will have brought in a left-back – Jetro Willems on loan – and a right-back.

Full-back was one of our weak links over the last two seasons under Rafa Benitez so we will have at last tried to fix that weakness.

The price Amiens paid Bologna for Krafth was €2.5M, so a bid of around €6m is surely worth it.

And there was news a couple of days ago that Newcastle had increased their bid to £4.5m for the player.

It may be that the increased bid has now been accepted.

Mike Ashley has a terrible (miserly) habit of wanting every single deal to be the very minimum we have to pay out in transfer fees.

That’s cost us players coming to Newcastle in the past.

We hope he will loosen the purse strings at Newcastle from now on, but we seriously doubt it.

We hope the club can sign Emil Krafth and that will be four outstanding senior players brought in this summer, plus some good youngsters for the U23 side.

If that happens, it will have been a good window and should help lift the spirits of Newcastle fans everywhere.

We certainly need that!

Comments welcome.

I suppose you want us to buy players we can sell at a loss?

Wouldn’t like to work for your business if you had one.

Have you ever stopped for one second to consider….

EVERY club has sold players for a profit.

    Look at Leicester…

    Won the League…

Could have used that to really make a go of becoming a top 6 club…

    And what did they do?

Sold Kante, Drinkwater and Mahrez and agreed to sell Vardy to Arsenal before he decided to stay.

    And now they’ve sold Maguire.

If that had of happened at NUFC Ashley would have been crucified.

Regardless of whatever anyone’s views on Rafa and the reasons he left, Bruce is a terrible appointment. He’s a constant failure throughout his career. One of the last bunch of English managers who’ve got by because they played for good teams under good managers. He’s not even an Allardyce who can claim to guarantee survival.

Also, as much as Ashley is a terrible parasite, the money we’ve spent this summer we could have got a reasonable coach from Europe where they often have less money and just as little say on who comes through the door. But we’ve appointed a mouth piece who’ll defend Ashley in order to keep himself in a job.

I find it amazing how news are created. On the Andy Carroll story line and that Bruce has pulled the plug on it. The Mirror creates this headline from a comment that Bruce has made on him being happy with what he has.

Nowhere did he say specifically that Andy Carroll is not coming back. Nowhere.

This has now been reproduced by every news outlet, fan website and blog you can think of and is now regarded as a truth.

    What absolute bullshit.

No one will sign him until he is fit, he is not under contract and can go wherever he wants. Under the right circumstances I am sure Bruce will have him.

I think the argument is being sustainable but ambitious. Not easy to get right but doable with the right set up.

You need to buy enough young players that some will come through and do well, others can be sold to lower leagues or abroad for a profit. Some will really kick on and you can’t stop them joining a bigger club, but you get good money.

What you also need to do though is accept that sometimes you will make a loss on one player. Rondon was a fine example of that. He won’t get sold on for a profit in the future, but what he brings to the team now is worth that loss. You can make money back from TV and from the sale of other players in the future.

    As always, it’s balance.

I agree bruce is an awful appointment but I’ll still give him a chance to prove me wrong. I’m not expecting him to succeed but will at least give him the opportunity to.

With rafa it was as though he could do no wrong which just wasnt true, every manager has faults but I’d rather have rafa here than bruce that’s a fact. No matter who’s appointed the main issue is Ashley,n so fixating on the manager when the owner hides behind him does no one any favours other than ashley

Those players at Leicester got their head turned by winning the Prem and realising it won’t happen again at Leicester they jumped ship to top 4 teams, the difference between us and Leicester is they will have done anything they could to keep those players,we wouldn’t.

Out of curiosity, what do you class as competing?

Some would say challenging for the title is competing, anything less isn’t. Or would pushing top 4 be enough, or top 6, or top 10? Would it take a good cup run?

Some would argue that simply being in the prem league, as part of the best 20 sides in the country is competing when a number of those teams have a larger fan base, the pull of a London club, equally large TV money and owners who genuinely have a lot more money that ours?

For the record, I want Ashley out and haven’t been to a game for years now, so I’m very clearly against him. My idea of competing is something like Leicester/wolves (other than the freak season where they won the title), just gradually build and improve and try to work your way up the table and go for a cup.

so if you don’t know me and i don’t know you (which i don’t) how can you profess to speak with so much authority for the other 50k fans on the terraces who you obviously don’t know , you don’t have a clue what people think, and what you don’t know to suite your agenda,
your expressing your personal opinion that’s it nothing more in the hope of bombarding people it to your narrow minded outlook

I’m well thanks, hope you and all the others here are too.

I agree on Rafa. I think he made mistakes, but considerably less mistakes than others we’ve had recently and he conducted himself very well. I do find it funny he wanted to have a real project to build on but ended up in China and that he gets no stick for that from anywhere… but he’s entitled to a hefty pay packet and he didn’t owe us anything. He gave 3 years of good service and I wish him well.

I’m happy for Bruce to prove me wrong, but his career suggests otherwise.

NEWCASTLE TABLE BID FOR THIAGO MAIA…

Newcastle United have outbid Genoa in the race to sign Lille’s defensive midfielder Thiago Maia, according to Le10Sport.

The French news outlet claims that Genoa had offered £6.4million and 50 per cent of the resale value of the 22-year-old Brazilian.
However it is understood that the Magpies have now tabled a higher bid for Maia as they aim to land the former Santos midfielder before the transfer deadline at 5pm on Thursday.

Le10Sport adds that Maia is yet to make a final decision on his future at Lille despite only earning 11 starts in Ligue 1 last season.

Odd signing if it happens. Not a definitive upgrade, but obviously Bruce sees something in him compared to current options and wants him, at that price it’s pretty much zero risk.

Will be more oddity if Manquillo goes given how well he;s done in pre-season.

I don’t try and ram opinions down anybody’s throat.

I just write posts, simple as.

And as for speaking for 50,000 fans…

You and your like want fans to boycott games, not buy ST’s, not buy shirts or bovril etc.

So if I say that those who turn up for the Arsenal game, and the ones who wear a shirt and have a pie and a pint don’t agree with you…

I think I’m on pretty sound ground.

It depends on the squad, I think for this season anywhere between 10th – 15th, ideally I want us to compete for european places but that’s never going to happen under Ashley again.
