Report – Midfielder Target To Make Newcastle Decision On Tuesday

Le 10 Sport is reporting that Thiago Maia will make a decision between Genoa and Newcastle on Tuesday.

This tweet translates to:

Thiago Maia has to make a decision tomorrow (Tuesday). Transfer Offer from Genoa (7M € + 50% resale) or Newcastle loan offer (with higher salary than Genoa)

The link to Maia resurfaced Sunday night with reports from France that Newcastle had renewed their interest in the Brazilian. It was reported earlier today that Newcastle had made a better offer for the defensive midfielder.

However, that offer appears to be in salary and not in a transfer fee. The French outlet is reporting that Maia will have to decide between joining Genoa on a permanent or Newcastle on loan. With Newcastle, he would reportedly get higher wages.

We are not sure if their will be an option to buy in the deal but if we could get Maia in this week that would be excellent news. Like Jetro Willems, a loan deal with an option to buy might not be a bad idea. Both players saw a massive dip in form last season so maybe Newcastle are just taking precautions by only offering a loan deal initially.

Yeah Munster, it wasn’t a surprise to me that Ashley has spent at all. I thought he had too, to support Ashley and quell fan unrest. But regardless of that, he does appear to spend when the club has the money anyway. It’s the manner of the spend that has been questionable over the years, and the timing, too often on players we don’t really need, or on players that don’t figure, or some of it’s left in the bank till the next window because they don’t think there’s value in the market, all combining to leave us too often with a “short blanket”. He obviously doesn’t do enough to maximize revenue streams either, nor always hire enough good people to manage all the various aspects of the club. That’s how I view Ashley, but I do think it is money in, money out.

Munster mag harping on about some guys saying Ashley wouldn’t spend like it was some kind of mainstream view. Of course he was going to spend, he had to, you can’t let your three top scorers go(let that sink in) and then not spend any money. We know he knows zilch, zero, Nadal about football but even he’s not quite that stupid, almost but not quite to that level.

There was no other option but to spend – fatty feels he got his fingers burned by Leicester on the Perez deal and could have got more money but for the buyout clause – clubs knew we were in desperate straits given we’d let Rondon go as well hence forcing fatty to pay over the odds for Linton at 35 million ( including add-ons), no other club had made a bid , same with max-saint ..
I’m looking forward to seeing them play at Norwich which is actually a decent ground – Shame it’s in the middle of nowhere.

Hopefully we’ll have 3 points in the bag from the arsenal game who will be lucky to finish in top 6 this season – if Bruce goes on an early run of defeats to start the season I can’t see him turning it round. He’s already said he’s not into tactics so unlikely he’ll change a losing formula or a winning one so here’s hoping for the latter

Is that the same Munster that posts every day to tell the blog to forget Rafa and move on.

I suppose when you’ve practically stalked someone for 3 years it’s hard to stop mentioning them.

Strange constantly mentioning someone you want people to move on from.

I reckon Rafa shunned shaking his hand.

Good meeting last night, a real eye opener on the support the boycott and protests are getting.

If we sign Krafth and Maria, and replace Gayle if we sell him, it would be the first time imo that nufc under Ashley have signed all the required personnel in the needed positions. (not necessarily saying they are all good enough)

We are back at Ashleys failed policy of 11 purples, the only reason it looks different is he’s paid the going market rate.

If Ashley was truly backing Bruce and wanted the club to progress and strengthen we’d see atleast one more quality signing and a cpl potential squad players.

I don’t expect to see that, we’ve got 11years to look back on for reference.

You’ve got 4 center halves playing
In an era where the emphasis is on marauding full backs with pace who can go touchline to touchline for 90mins
I remember tony pulis playing four center halves for WBA in 17/18 season. He was sacked and ultimately they were relegated

If 15-17M comes in for a 29 year old Dwight Gayle I can’t see how they’ll turn that down, he’ll be in to the last year of his deal if he stays this summer and they’re not going to offer him an extension so in their dyes it makes perfect sense, who then comes in to replace him with four days left in the transfer market.

With the amount of anti boycott and anti protest coming from new accounts here and especially Twitter, someone is worried and trying to pour cold water on it.

Its obvious on Twitter as you can see their account details and history, made up in recent weeks, following 3 people being followed by no one but posting anti boycott on TMG and others posts.

Ashleys PR machine is out, his shareholders are going nuts atm, last thing he wants is us protesting at the ground.

The chery will be when Rangers and Newcastle fans turn up at SD AGM, his shareholders will already want blood.

Imagine the negative press we can give Ashley and SD before then.

Jail for Ashley, I think if you re-visit my posts over the years I have condemned Ashley, Charnley and Benitez to an equal degree, so my disdain for the former two remains. I stand out because I am one of the few who has been prepared to call out Benitez as the self-serving, avaricious and untrustworthy individual he is, underlined by his shabby departure from NUFC. I have no pre-conceived opinion of Bruce other than the fact that his record as a manager is ordinary to say the least. I

    c-dog,
It looks like Dummet is fit, does he play him at LB who isn’t exactly a wing back, I’m not sure if Willems is a wing back either but I know nothing about him at all other than he’s a LB. Has he been bought because of how he’ll fit straight in to the team’s system of is it because he has been on the radar for a while, was too expensive when his stock was high but now available on loan as he is no longer an international and is a stone heavier?

I like dummett. I think he can challenge Lejeune Lascelles and Schar if we’re going with 3 center Backs. Signing players we were linked with after their sell by date you say? That’s not good. We’re not a club where players rebuild their careers. This is Newcastle. We should be getting in guys who are in their prime.
