Report – Midfielder Target To Make Newcastle Decision On Tuesday

Le 10 Sport is reporting that Thiago Maia will make a decision between Genoa and Newcastle on Tuesday.

This tweet translates to:

Thiago Maia has to make a decision tomorrow (Tuesday). Transfer Offer from Genoa (7M € + 50% resale) or Newcastle loan offer (with higher salary than Genoa)

The link to Maia resurfaced Sunday night with reports from France that Newcastle had renewed their interest in the Brazilian. It was reported earlier today that Newcastle had made a better offer for the defensive midfielder.

However, that offer appears to be in salary and not in a transfer fee. The French outlet is reporting that Maia will have to decide between joining Genoa on a permanent or Newcastle on loan. With Newcastle, he would reportedly get higher wages.

We are not sure if their will be an option to buy in the deal but if we could get Maia in this week that would be excellent news. Like Jetro Willems, a loan deal with an option to buy might not be a bad idea. Both players saw a massive dip in form last season so maybe Newcastle are just taking precautions by only offering a loan deal initially.

    Markaccus,
Sorry mate but Ritchie is not a LWB he’s a right side winger, he was played there out of necessity, round pegs etc are not the way to push forward.

C Dog, the Schar, Lascelles, Fernandez, Dummett back four suggestion is for the one game, or two games only till we get one of Ritchie back fit or Willems match fit. Don’t think either will be fit for the Arsenal game, maybe the next. If either one is, then yeah, back three and wing backs. I’d rather see that back four, than Aarons at left wing back, against the Arsenal attack. That’s all.

Please do not use the F (foward) word in connection to Nufc.

The club doesn’t like the word as it indicates spending money on a F or pushing the club F and showing ambition, it’s not in the image they have for the club.

No more mention of the F word by order of Ashley.

Jail for Ashley suggested Willems could be quite some way off match fitness as is suffering from excess weight issues. Let’s hope Ritchie is closer even if he is only a makeshift option.

Just doing my Fantasy spread sheet( aye maroon I’m after you 😀 ) and Brighton have done nothing at all this window, I think they’re doing the same as us and banking on three teams being worse.

Still don’t see where the goals are going to come from. If you don’t score goals in the Premier League you get relegated.

NUST survey result re Arsenal Boycott.
    4800 replied to the survey.

84% support the boycott of the Arsenal game.

Of season ticket holders who replied 67% supported the Arsenal boycott.

Just to clarify. It was 67% of current season ticket holders.
Although I have to say I’m not sure if the trust would know for sure the status of the folks replying.
If you’ve just given up your ticket after 25 years you’d probably still reply as a season ticket holder.

On that basis then there should be a crowd of about 15,000 including Arsenal supporters.

Key – Will those who don’t agree with a boycott still boycott in support of their fellow supporters.

Ashley said he could own the club forever.

Where do you lot see the club in 5 years if Ashley stays?
Easy one to answer …on a Netflix documentary

    Jail.

I agree about Ritchie, but given that we have signed a LB I think he’ll be used to cover that position. Manquillo can play both sides (even though he isn’t great).
Just looked up Sean Longstaff and he’s 22 in October, so I guess he needs to be included in the 25. Creates a problem, really

“I have no pre-conceived opinion of Bruce other than the fact that his record as a manager is ordinary to say the least.”

Well the fact he has the second worst managerial record in the premiership suggest he isn’t just “ordinary” in fact he’s a long way from it.

See the Brentford player Maupay is apparently off to Brighton for 20M.
Would he have been a safer bet than St Max.
Seems though we are back to signing players with the same agent.
Not sure what that is about.
Some sort of scam or perverse incentive no doubt.
    Just can’t figure it out.

“Ordinary to say the least” infers that is the worst you could call it, I’d almost accept “ordinary” given Ashleys tenure, his record suggests he isn’t even “ordinary”, well below that, wouldn’t you agree?

    X Hayden Longstaff
    Maximin Linton Miggy

If we filled them 3 positions correctly and went with a 4-3-3 I think we’d be top 10. Unfortunately given the missing players we have to play a less modern formation and the few players who come in are weak links pushing us closer to 18th rather than 10th

SB is “massively impressed” by some of our players eg Muto, who although injured a lot wasn’t used much by Rafa. Could it be Steve that you’re massively impressed cos you’re used to working with Championship players. The Arsenal game is a huge test for how well we’ll do this season!

Maupay has been confirmed at 20m. They’ve signed a cb too for 20m but it could be that he will be replacing dunk who may leave. They’ve sold knockeart too and with a new manager, they could struggle more so than last year.

    I’m not complaining 🙂

They need to bring in another striker, if Rondon had of been crocked in January we’d have been relegated. If Joelinton doesn’t hit the ground running or gets injured we’ll be relegated. Surely Bruce and Steve Nickson know this so therefore Chumpley has to know as well.
