Reports – Newcastle Linked With Versatile International Full-back

Newcastle have now been linked with Bordeaux right-back Youssouf Sabaly. Sabaly recently starred for Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations and is a product of the Paris Saint-Germain youth academy.

According to multiple Bordeaux outlets, France Football is reporting that Newcastle are following Sabaly closely. Though we can’t locate the original source for the link to the player.

Sabaly joined Bordeaux in the summer of 2017 from PSG for a fee of around £3.6m. Sabaly never made a first-team appearance for PSG but spent time on loan at Evian, Nantes, and Bordeaux before joining the latter permanently two years ago.

He has increased his profile over the past two seasons and would cost a bit more than Bordeaux paid for him initially. One of the big positives about Sabaly is that he is equally adept at playing left-back as well as on the right. He plays on the left internationally.

He can also play further forward on both flanks. He should cost in the £10-15m range.

Youssouf Sabaly– Bordeaux’s versatile full-back

The twenty-six-year-old may be seen as a better option to Swede Emil Krafth who Newcastle are reportedly still trying to pry from SC Amiens. Krafth would be seen as cover for the right wing-back position though Sabaly would seem to be an upgrade.

He has 18 caps for Senegal but appeared for France in all of the international youth levels. Watford are also reportedly very interested in the Sabaly as they continue to chase his international teammate Ismaila Sarr from Rennes.

Bordeaux would also seem to be a motivated seller. They have ready replacements at both right-back and left-back with Enock Kwateng (Nantes) and Loris Benito (Young Boys) both joining on free transfers this summer. Sabaly’s profile right now is as high as it has ever been and he has just two years remaining on his contract.

Looks like Ashley has just extended his retail empire by buying Jack Willis… Please Mike, sell to BZG and you could buy all the cheap run down shops you want.

    Typical Ashley.
He gives a world class manager nothing for THREE years. And gives a rubbish manager a decent amount.
He knows he needs to spend to give the rubbish manager a chance of staying up.
Buy he knows that any boycott can easily be bought off. The Toon fans are cheapscates.

Buy nobody for 10 years and suddenly a net spend of 20 million seems like trillions. So easily bought off. So depressing. At least he is not getting my money. Enjoy the season in the bottom 6.

I feel ashley thinks premier league survival is based on 2 bars that stack up to form a 3rd.
Money spent + manager skill = survival chance
As long as ours is the 17th longest combined bar on the graph or better then its ok.
    Little money + good manager = 10th – 17th (hooray!)
    But as long as:
    Decent money + average manager > 17th
    He doesnt care

You need to go get your facts right. When did I ever argue so strongly against a boycott???

I admire all that get involved in protests and take out there time to get in whatever movement they are involved with to be rid of the tyrant. I can’t make any difference to this apart from never shopping in SD and never buying anything Newcastle related that will end up in the fat mans pocket I can’t do anything else.

It’s my own opinion that a boycott or protests won’t be successful but again that’s my opinion. It’s based on stuff I know and have been told. Mike Ashley does not care one bit he is a ruthless man and boycotts or protests will not budge him even tho I hope they do I don’t believe they won’t. This is a man who has had scrutiny thrown at him all his life he isn’t known to be one of the worst owners with the way he runs SD. Giving his staff 0 contract hrs and all the mistreatment he has given his staff. Now this is a well known fact been all over the media but has anything changed at SD??? The answer is no, so why would it change here.
