Report – Newcastle To Offload Six Senior Players Over The Next 48 Hours

The Daily Star is reporting that Newcastle will move six senior members of the squad over the next couple of days.

The players that the report have identified are goalkeeper Rob Elliot, left-back Achraf Lazaar, right-back Jamie Sterry, midfielders Henri Saivet and Jack Colback, as well as winger Jacob Murphy.

Jacob Murphy reportedly has four Championship clubs looking to take him on loan for the upcoming season.

None of these are particularly surprising except for maybe Rob Elliot as Steve Bruce has repeatedly said he will name 3 goalkeepers in the 25 man squad. However, there is twenty-year-old Jake Turner in the reserve squad and maybe he can be relied upon as the third-choice keeper. It would be a risk but he would not count towards the 25 man squad.

Rob Elliot– just one year left on contract

With Newcastle looking at bringing in either Emil Krafth from SC Amiens or Youssouf Sabaly from Bordeaux, Jamie Sterry was always going to go out on loan. If Newcastle do bring in one of those two targets, they would then have three first-team choices at right-back with DeAndre Yedlin, Javier Manquillo, and the new signing.

Achraf Lazaar, too, was always likely to be sent out on loan. Jetro Willems was brought in on loan from Frankfurt this past Friday and he will provide competition for Matt Ritchie at the left wing-back position. There is also Rolando Aarons who started on the left on Saturday as well as Paul Dummett who can provide cover.

We are hoping that Thiago Maia will be confirmed soon for the midfield. The latest reports on his situation are that Newcastle appear to be in the lead to capture him. He has to decide between Genoa and Newcastle over the next few days.

If Maia comes in then we should be set at midfield with Jonjo Shelvey, Isaac Hayden, Sean Longstaff, Ki Sung-yueng, and Maia. Depending on whether Matty Longstaff goes on loan or not, he could also provide some cover in the position.

This would leave no room for Henri Saivet or Jack Colback so both of them will likely be loaned out again as they have been for the past two seasons. Though if Matty Longstaff does go out on loan, we should maybe keep one them as cover.

We expect a lot of movement out over the next few days and a few signings still to come in. There is also a lot of news about Dwight Gayle being on the way out in a permanent move too. That would mean we would definitely need another striker to come in.

Perez was a work horse pressing from the front and contributing with some decent and valuable goals. He stuck to the game plan and Rafa (he who must not be named) trusted him.

For what we paid for him he was a super star.

I liked his celebration – a gentle fingers up to the Toon Fans booing him.

I’m gutted he has gone but then only I really care about what i think……….

OP: who said that Ashley cares about NUFC? I cannot fathom the fcker out for the life of me. He makes no sense. He seems to do some things that are not in his own interests. I just don’t see him selling and I see him making some effort again. Mainly because there is money in the NUFC bank account.

It might work out. I don’t want to be Blackburn though and that can be where boycotts lead.

So you’re saying Ashley who many of you boycotters believe has a personal grudge with fans, after being made to sell by said fans and in a rush having to sell for less than he wants, therefore attracting more suitors than he would at the current supposed asking price, would not select the buyer he deems the worst for Newcastle as a final eff you and good luck?

By your own judgement of the man, of course he would.

Even if somebody like Kenyon and his lot bought us, they were supposedly doing it on finance and were having to scrape the money together! How do you think they were planning on paying their creditors back?

Listen to other fans of clubs with truly shite owners – yes, there are many worse than Ashley – who have dropped through the leagues or have become mired in stagnant Championship football year after year.

So, what is the state of play on season ticket renewals? There appears to be about 700 on general sale. Have all the others been snapped up?

    I hope not.

If so, the sheep continue to support the parasite owner. It will cost me about £300 this weekend to join the protest, and all those super fans can do is say “we need to support the team”. Crap, utter crap. If you continue to support this regime you are nothing but self serving hypocrites. Not only that, you deserve the parasite owner.

I like Sterry but I think he needs to go permanently. He’s not really done that much whilst out on loan previously.

Turner will do for 3rd choice, so Elliot can definitely go.

Shifting these players seems to have been a struggle for over two years now though.

Also if this Thiago Maia struggled last season, do we really want/need him. I still feel a striker is needed, Austin or Carroll would do short term.

    HWA Tony

Last one I’ve things to do.

Ashley is getting it from all quarters, especially the financial sector.

Shares are dropping, investors have been told to sell as it’s only going to get worse.

He doesn’t want any negative publicity because the Shareholders at the AGM won’t be happy about the share prices and the negative press coming from Nufc and Rangers fans.
There’ll be representatives of both sets of fans inside and outside the AGM and Fat boy will face the music.

BBC and Sky have asked the route of the boycott to have cameras there.
The Guardian have asked for interviews from TMG on why they’re boycotting, Chronicle is running boycott story all week and promoting the TMG meeting, BBC radio Newcastle have asked for a interview on the 7am News in the morning, plus stuff I cant remember.

That’s what a small group of fans have achieved, when we turn half or more Ashley has no chance.

HWA # 50 – What would your suggestion be for achieving that?

As well as #BoycottArsenal (to raise awareness to the wider world), the protests groups are challenging Ashley’s ownership of SD to apply precisely the kind of pressure you are referring to.

As #BoycottAshley says, get yourself along to tomorrow nights open meeting with your ideas?

Can’t see the point in making managerial comparisons between Rafa and Bruce as there aren’t any to be made, other than Rafa has achieved success at the highest level of the sport , and Bruce hasn’t come anywhere close.

We must try and move on now from Rafa and focus our attentions on avoiding relegation and trying to force Ashley out and wondering how things might have been with Rafa still here don’t really help. That also applies to Munster O Mag and his jolly band of Rafa dissers.

So if this report is right, we will be going in to the season with 2 senior goalkeepers. Risky.

I’m ok with the other players reported as being moved on. If true then from the squad I posted earlier today that means we have a 23 man squad.

Tony Baloney – Perez’s goals kept us up two seasons. He’s not Neymar fine, but by the end of his time here he was an adept half-chance taker and finisher (which he needed to be in a compact and cautious Rafa side)- and most importantly match winner. There aren’t many outside the top 6.

As for the fingers in ears – the reason he got pelters (unfairly) was because supporters felt he wasn’t bringing his talent to bear. Atsu, Murphy, Muto and the rest didn’t get the abuse because supporters knew that was about all they were up to.
