Report – Newcastle To Offload Six Senior Players Over The Next 48 Hours

The Daily Star is reporting that Newcastle will move six senior members of the squad over the next couple of days.

The players that the report have identified are goalkeeper Rob Elliot, left-back Achraf Lazaar, right-back Jamie Sterry, midfielders Henri Saivet and Jack Colback, as well as winger Jacob Murphy.

Jacob Murphy reportedly has four Championship clubs looking to take him on loan for the upcoming season.

None of these are particularly surprising except for maybe Rob Elliot as Steve Bruce has repeatedly said he will name 3 goalkeepers in the 25 man squad. However, there is twenty-year-old Jake Turner in the reserve squad and maybe he can be relied upon as the third-choice keeper. It would be a risk but he would not count towards the 25 man squad.

Rob Elliot– just one year left on contract

With Newcastle looking at bringing in either Emil Krafth from SC Amiens or Youssouf Sabaly from Bordeaux, Jamie Sterry was always going to go out on loan. If Newcastle do bring in one of those two targets, they would then have three first-team choices at right-back with DeAndre Yedlin, Javier Manquillo, and the new signing.

Achraf Lazaar, too, was always likely to be sent out on loan. Jetro Willems was brought in on loan from Frankfurt this past Friday and he will provide competition for Matt Ritchie at the left wing-back position. There is also Rolando Aarons who started on the left on Saturday as well as Paul Dummett who can provide cover.

We are hoping that Thiago Maia will be confirmed soon for the midfield. The latest reports on his situation are that Newcastle appear to be in the lead to capture him. He has to decide between Genoa and Newcastle over the next few days.

If Maia comes in then we should be set at midfield with Jonjo Shelvey, Isaac Hayden, Sean Longstaff, Ki Sung-yueng, and Maia. Depending on whether Matty Longstaff goes on loan or not, he could also provide some cover in the position.

This would leave no room for Henri Saivet or Jack Colback so both of them will likely be loaned out again as they have been for the past two seasons. Though if Matty Longstaff does go out on loan, we should maybe keep one them as cover.

We expect a lot of movement out over the next few days and a few signings still to come in. There is also a lot of news about Dwight Gayle being on the way out in a permanent move too. That would mean we would definitely need another striker to come in.

    Great post.
Posters talk about how we should be ‘attacking’ teams outside the top six more. Only Watford got more points than us v the other 14 clubs. We were joint with Everton. Better than wolves, Leicester etc.
For all their supposed ‘attacking’ football, we accumulated more points against them.
There was nothing wrong with the tactics we were employing with the personnel at hand.
May be not attractive to some but that’s very subjective.

Although we didn’t get any points v the top 6 other than Man City, we were close in many of them and only were shown up for a lack of quality in the side.

If we added quality to the side that ended last season, I’d be confident of pushing for top 8 never mind top 10. Now that’s all been ripped up and we have to hope that the signings perform better than the previous players.

Never mind the fact that we likely will not be as solid as we were previously.

More tripe, the club is operating under it’s own steam, hmmm.

Could you explain why the club is now in twice the debt Ashley inherited, despite him taking over £40m out to repay himself back in the last few seasons?

Take as long as you need.

You’re conflating a lot of different post into a strawman. I think it will be about a 10k boycott, which if sustained absolutely would affect players, they even say so. There’s a reason Rafa constantly called for unity and to get behind the players no matter what.

On the other hand if we win, even draw I think the idea of an ongoing boycott will fizzle and thousands will return especially when they see 40k still turning up. It’s being billed as a one-off by most people anyway. Only a portion are committed staying away no matter for the season

A loss and of course more who boycott – being fickle – will decide to then boycott the next home match too.

How is that financed and what happens if they do a Fulham? If net spend is all that mattered and not how you spend it we should just add up the figures of each club and configure the table accordingly – do away with the football part.

Hail – you’re right about net spend but if you do it with the wage bill it almost falls in line.

Few exceptions like us the last two seasons and Wolves last season when teams punch above their weights or catch lightning in a bottle like Leicester.

“…Yes there are issues surrounding commercial income etc, those should be specific points of pressure and enquiry…”

Any specific ideas on what could be done in this regard?

You mention a “supposed lack of ambition” – I think 90+% of people (including Benitez, Rondon, Perez, Shearer, etc – you can’t expect anyone actually still in the club to voice this) have all agreed there isn’t any serious attempts at ambition, and of course we’ve had the very clear lack of ambition in cups and the way commercial income (and likely other income) is effectively syphoned to SD or other entities.

We have just one board member (I think) in Charnley and we’ve only recently started to add a better structure below board level in terms of the likes of Nickson and Redfeard (seems like a good start but more is needed including particularly at board level). We’ve had little to no investment in training facilities and other infrastructure over an extended period of time.

Even if there’s SOME ambition, there’s clearly much more that could very readily be done better.

Going back to your point #140, a moot point as it’s unlikely to play out this way but if Ashley is forced to sell then almost by definition he isn’t going to be able to pick and choose between bids, he’d simply be forced to take the one offer on the table, or if multiple offers he’d be almost certainly taking the highest one.

Easy. Relegation and Championship seasons. Ashley providing some cash for us to bounce back – not out of the goodness of his heart because if it was he would have paid rather than loaned, but to protect his asset. The accounts are all there, go and prove they’re massaged figures and get back to us with the evidence. We’ve been over such clap-trap numerous times.

You’d think somebody could substantiate by now how MA is sometimes willing just to repay himself transparently and other times he is taking money out on the sly.

Right now we’re in good financial health and will be making £40-60m profit year on year to build with as long as we’re in the PL.

    YOU WANT ASHLEY OUT?

    HERE’S HOW….

    PROVE THIS ACCUSATION…

MA is constantly accused of ‘trousering’ money out of the club.

He denied it in his recent interview.

He has offered to let fans look at the accounts and I think that is one of the really positive things that the fan groups could do.

Surely there is a fan/s among you with the experience to take MA up on his offer and check the trousering rumour.

It is a serious accusation to make and one that, if true, will not only polarise all fan opinion but also surely make him an unfit owner in the eyes of the FA, lead to serious issues with HMRC and generate massive negative media coverage nationwide.

He couldn’t possibly remain the owner of the club.

    Over to you…..

I totally agree with you. I would not slag anyone off for making their own decision to boycott. I don’t agree its the right approach but no slagging off.

But by the same token you can’t say that people who can’t attend for geographical reasons are only asking people not to boycott simply to create a good TV atmosphere.

You can’t have it both ways. You want the non boycotters to act like grown ups and not slag people off for boycotting but then those who don’t agree with you and are against the boycott like myself are only doing it to make it cosy on the sofa.
