Newcastle Linked With Journeyman English Defender

Newcastle were linked with a move for Steven Caulker three years ago when we were planning for a season in the Championship.

At that time, Caulker had just ended a disappointing loan spell at Liverpool in which he had made only 6 Premier League appearances. He was on loan from QPR where he would return before being released from the club in 2017.

He would then go on to join Scottish side Dundee for the second half of the 2017/18 season before joining Turkish club Alanyaspor this past January.

He has had a decent spell in Turkey and now the Mirror are claiming that Newcastle are looking at bringing Caulker in this summer in a £2m deal.

We don’t see much in this link as Newcastle are not short in central defense. Caulker is also 27 years old which is on the edge of Newcastle’s transfer policy of only bringing in players under 26.

Unless one of our current crop of defenders is on the way out in the next few days, we don’t see much in this report.

Disappointed with Ritchie’s comments in relation to A$$ Lie he cannot seriously be that naive and innocent ?

    It’s either :

    A) someone who lives in an innocent bubble and is oblivious to what is going on around him.
    B) He’s taken his 30 pieces of Silver.

Whatever else about him though I cannot fault his commitment every time he pulls on the Jersey so I’ll hope that it’s A.

Theres been no aggression towards anyone towards anyone at TMG meetings, that includes those who are still attending the match

It’s another assumption directed at TMG, theres people who’ve been to TMG meetings plan to protest outside ground and are going into the ground.

We’ll try to convince them not to go, only a moron would alienate the people they’re trying to convert and be aggressive towards them.

More lies from the anti boycott brigade to divide and conquer, funny how they’re a authority on something the know nothing about or have any involvement in.

Everyone who wants Ashley out is welcome, stand on the background and listen. No one has to identify themselves and speak.

Come along, then you’ll have some real evidence to use when talking about TMG boycotts and protests.

I am nearly caught up on blog proceedings….

Just making my way past the part where Irish (mensa) Rob calls bloggers retards who don’t seem to understand humour. This only days after Irishrob went doolally at Genjaiki for moving in on his *first* routine. Yikes.

What is clear to me is that we, the fans, are losing or have lost the PR battle. Most football supporters in the country don’t understand our issues and aren’t really interested.
It is a domestic argument that doesn’t involve them. They may have an opinion but the majority aren’t that bothered or don’t understand why the fans are up in arms.
I cannot see how that will change, nevertheless I admire the supporter groups for taking a stand and trying raise awareness.

Ritchie still one of my favourites. Wears the Jersey with pride, plays with passion.

Players are with Bruce and want to focus on football. I hope that is a good sign when it comes to results on the pitch.

Will not comment further on Ashley, everything has been said.

Neil, you say Ritchie ‘will have’ a personal relationship with MA, perhaps justifying his opinion of the man.

    I’d be extremely surprised.

E.g. Rafa never managed to build a rudimentary relationship and even KK said he basically only had contact with intermediaries.

Ritchie could have called for unity without saying things like he doesn’t understand fans unrest. That doesn’t sit well with me. The rest though is as you’d expect.

Any merit or truth in this ?

Newcastle are still thought to be battling both Everton and West Ham in the race to land Monaco’s Rony Lopes – so could he prove to be the final piece of Steve Bruce’s Magpies jigsaw?

According to French outlet L’Equipe, cited by Sports Witness, the Premier League trio, along with Valencia, AS Roma and Sevilla, are all interested in the 23-year-old, with Monaco looking to receive €25 million for his services.

The players and manager will be out in force, the only time the club engages the fans is to deny or deter.

    Novocastrian66,

You are right to a degree. However, the same thing is happening at other clubs. The issue surrounding businessmen owning football clubs to make money is going to grow until something will have to give.

Take a look at Blackpool, Bolton, Bury, Portsmouth and many others who have been driven into the ground by mismanagement and asset stripping owners. It’s time these people were exposed for what they are.

I wasn’t trying to divert attention from a boycott by mentioning Pogba. We are usually about the 20th story on The Daily Mail website now, or even The Guardian. They have gone all clicks and hashtags now and we are not a big story.

The only places this meeting tonight will be mentioned is on blogs and The Chronicle.

The boycott might get 100 words in a few of the papers. It will be mainly Lampard and Pogba. That’s just the way it is now. Maybe they will talk about Pep’s jumper.

A new proposal from the Magpies should reach the young PSG defender Stanley N’Soki in the coming hours to try to change the record. Sources in France don’t belive the deal is over. [Mercato]
