Swedish football writer Daniel Kristoffersen is reporting that Newcastle have agreed on a fee for Amiens right-back Emil Krafth and that the player is heading to Newcastle for his medical today.
His article in the Espressen claims that Newcastle and the player have also agreed to personal terms on a four-year deal. It appears that a breakthrough in the negotiations between Newcastle and Amiens was achieved late yesterday.
Newcastle had reportedly bid twice for Krafth with both bids having been rejected. The lastest rejected bid was around £4.5m. However, it was claimed that Emil Krafth was desperate to join Newcastle and that he had even returned to Sweden as he missed out on Amiens final pre-season game.
Newcastle seems to have upped their bid by £1m to £5.5m to close the deal. This represents a very nice profit for Amiens who paid Bologna £2m for Krafth this summer.
Emil Krafth– on his way for medical?
Local journalists are also now reporting the same information as well as some outlets in France. However, all are referencing what Daniel Kristoffersen has reported.
Newcastle were supposedly also tracking Bordeaux right-back Youssouf Sabaly who would have cost twice as much as Krafth. If these latest reports are true, it appears that Sabaly will no longer be a target.
Krafth will provide competition at right-back for Javier Manquillo and DeAndre Yedlin. However, Manquillo only has one year remaining on his contract so it will be interesting to see what happens with him and a new contract.

I wish I was as positive as you. I think that we need more goals in the team. A big gamble relying on players without good scoring records, and new to the Premier League. In my opinion we need to spend whatever money we have to bring in a proven centre forward.

Comment #45Are we really that crap????
Dubravka – talk of interest from Juve and PSG
Yedlin and Manquillo or this new guy – don’t know, average?
Schar – brilliant last year
Lejeune – classy
Lascelles – has a mistake in him but strong
Dummett – most underrated player at NUFC
Ritchie – was a revelation at wing back. Less than average winger.
Shelvey – one of the best passers in the league, limited defensively
Longstaff – Man U talking about 25 million for him
Hayden – valued at 20 million
Gayle – valued at 20 million
Almiron – some were saying he was player of the tournament at Copa America
St Max – who knows. but cost a bit
Joelinton – cost 40 mil FFS so better be good

Comment #50Bill: what negative have I offered on this thread. I was reacting to Genjikai’s statement that Sky and Ashley could block a big screen broadcast and that means that it won’t happen.

Also looked through the Observer on Sunday which gave the view by fans of each club in the Premier League and guess what: 9 out of 20 had us in the bottom three. And 6 out of 20 had Steve Bruce as the first manager to be sacked.
They may be right or wrong, but to me that isn’t the issue; its the fact that so many fans at other clubs see what a mess NUFC is in at the moment.

Comment #53Abe: you know you can just call me Baloney. It is a processed meat that is sort of accepted as much lower grade and the word baloney itself is used to mean rubbish, garbage, nonsense. Changing it to Balooney makes no sense.

Comment #54I think top 5 will be,
1. City
2. Spurs
3. Liverpool
4. Chelsea
5. Man U
But Arsenal could be the surprise package out of everyone, they could trade places with Chelsea and finish 4th.
They are beating all the top teams pre season and look very strong. Ive a feeling they are going to beat us pretty easily on Sunday. Hope I’m wrong!

Comment #61Our first 11 are very decent, its beyond that, where we will struggle.Strength in depth in defence and midfield. Its upfront where we may have problems,if injuries happen.BTW this Krafth we are getting seems to be a right back rather than a wing back.Don’t know how that will work,if thats the case.

Comment #67Don’t want to sound negative after giving Tony abuse about negativity, but bringing in more defenders (if true) looks like some must be on their way out. I hope it’s the right ones, but knowing how the parasite works he will probably be selling the ones that bring in the most money.

Comment #68Does anyone on here actually follow the toon, Yedlin’s been injured just coming back from injury so unlikely to play any time soon i don’t think its a case of Bruce not rating him or seeing him as a winger,Manquillio’s not the answer(Although he’s had a decent pre season) so makes sense to me to bring in another RB
