Sky Sports Reports Winger Is Surplus To Requirements

Keith Downie of Sky Sports has reported that Rolando Aarons will not be part of Newcastle’s 25 man squad when it is announced after the window closes.

This comes as a bit of a surprise as Rolando had featured quite a bit in the pre-season for Newcastle. It seemed to us that he had done enough to be included, even though it would have been only as cover.

So it looks like both Wigan and Sheffield Wednesday are vying to get Aarons on loan over the next 22 hours. The Sheffield Wednesday link is very interesting as it was said that the Owls wanted Aarons on loan as part of the compensation package for Steve Bruce.

It does look like Steve Bruce has spoken to the players who are not going to be part of the squad. Yesterday it was reported that six players would be moved out prior to Thursday and that was not including Aarons.

Those players were goalkeeper Rob Elliot, left-back Achraf Lazaar, right-back Jamie Sterry, midfielders Henri Saivet and Jack Colback, as well as winger Jacob Murphy. Jacob Murphy has four Championship clubs after him in Derby, Fulham, Huddersfield, as well as Sheffield Wednesday.

It looks like there is going to be a lot of movement out and it appears as though Steve Bruce has done a decent job in identifying the right players who are not good enough. However, we are disappointed that Rolando Aarons has not done enough to earn a spot. But it may open up a place in the squad for an additional transfer by tomorrow.

    ……………….Dubravka
    Krafth…Lascelles..Lejeune..Dummett.
    …………………Shelvey.
    ……….Hayden………..Longstaff.
    …St Max……Joelinton……Almiron.

    Darlow
    Willems
    Manquillo
    Scharr
    Fernandez
    Clark
    KiSy
    Ritchie
    Atsu
    Yedlin
    Muto
    Gayle

    Harker
    Matty Longstaff

I’d still move on Gayle, and bring in more appropriate cover for Joelinton, and a Diame replacement at defensive mid. Then we’d have a decent group that can be set up loads of different ways, depending on the situation.

    Ketsbaia9,
I hope you are wrong about Dummett, Hayden and Gayle.

Not sure about any incoming. That would be net spend.

I hope I’m right. They’re not good enough. Thiago Maia is much better than Hayden anyway. Marega will replace Gayle and we just don’t need Dummett. N’Soki could still come in along with the Bordeaux right back.

Think Bruce is going to play 4 right backs across the defence.

Missed out on Djibril Sidibe and Harryy Wilson. Both went on loan. Sidibe could play right and left back.

We’ve just signed a player who is on the same level as Manquillo. Not an improvement.

    Kets is surely a wum.

    Everything he posts is insane.

How can any normal person think that we’ll sell dummett, Clarke, hayden and gayle and buy bowen, lopes and merega all in a day.

Shut up man. Sure you’re a mackem fishing for bites. If you are, you’re playing the long game.

Can’t understand supporters who keep going and giving Ashley your hard earned money but to keep getting kicked in the knackers every year for the past 12 years still hoping this season will be different

Totally agree with big Bob regarding Bruce and I cannot get my mind around why Ashley has gone to buy Joelinton for €40 who is totally unproven at this level??
Surely we could find two strikers for the amount they paid for Joey boy?
This is not like fatty, for me it makes no sense..

Although Maia, 22, was a highly-rated Brazilian midfielder at Santos and did well in his debut season at Lille, he only managed 11 Ligue 1 starts last season and has failed to come anywhere near to reaching his potential. It was clear that Lille thought a lot of Maia when they signed him as there is a £50million release clause in his contract at the French club, according to the Sun. However they’d be lucky to even get 20 per cent of that for the Brazilian.

Maia would improve us. We have no flair with Hayden in the side. He is awful on the ball and can’t shoot.

Nobody wants to sign him. That’s how bad he is.

    Jazzy P
Maia was a revelation as a DM for Santos
Marcelo Bielsa bought him for Lille and
he had a fair first season.
MB’s successor Galtier tried to convert him
to a AM and his career went backwards.

Right back shouldn’t have been the priority. We need 2 striker, 1 winger and 2 midfielders plus a goalkeeper to replace Elliot.

If I hear the saying Mike Ashley is just a businessman once more I’m going to throttle some footer, bar City and Chelsea they’re all businessmen, being a businessman does not excuse the utter neglect and mismanagement that he is creating here. ”but at least if you’se go down, because he’s a businessman he’ll make sure you come straight back up”,
Where’s the footin joy in that!!!

We’ll do better going forward if Ashley has finally figured out that he needs to give his managers squads with proper depth, balance and quality.

Not quite there with this one yet. But it’s close. Still two more needed

The key for us is staying up and building steadily season on season. But it’s still never gonna get you beyond upper mid.

You need to maximize revenue and hire top people to achieve that.

    Not gonna happen under Ashley.

Ashley is just a businessman, hes one that rapes his businesses.

The hero of the job centre.

Sports Disrespect is worth £1.2bn they’ve been hit with a £600m tax bill

We’re one of his only real saleable assets, he has us in £140m in debt to him.

He can call that back at any time bankrupt the club and end it on a whim.

Stop asking TMG what and how they’re going to get Ashley out and start asking what you can do.

Throw a straw on and let’s break Ashley’s back..
