Craig Hope has tweeted the following about CSKA Moscow striker Fedor Chalov.
Bit of info picked up this morning. I'm told NUFC looked at CSKA striker Fedor Chalov but were put off by asking price. Palace are in for him but £23m offer might not be enough. Sources say 21-year-old is best young player in Russia and would be a hit in PL.

This would have been some signing for Newcastle if they were willing to try and get the 21-year-old Russian in. He would have been perfect for Newcastle.
Newcastle will have seen Chalov this past February when they played CSKA in a friendly as he played in that game.
He scored 17 goals with 7 assists last season in Russia. This season he already has 2 goals and an assist in CSKA’s first four games.
He is a forward who can finish and create. He would fit
perfectly in Newcastle’s 3-5-2 formation.
Fedor Chalov– Russian phenom
If Newcastle are interested in Chalov, they should go for him now. This is a player who could be worth twice as much in a couple of years so there will be little hope of getting him in the future.
There actually may be little hope now in getting him in as Crystal Palace are pushing to sign the striker but CSKA Moscow are not willing sellers.
Crystal Palace have reportedly had a £23m bid rejected for Chalov but are said to be determined to bring him in.
We will see if Crystal Palace follow up with an improved bid and we will be very disappointed if he ends up at Palace for around £25m.
While he certainly would have been a risk and a fee over £25m would have been unlikely from Newcastle, it would have been nice to at least have seen an attempt at signing the Russian striker.

Comment #4Still think Llorente is a better bet than Carroll as target man back up.
Even balotelli who by most accounts has curbed himself somewhat in France so isn’t causing bother like he was at Man City.

Comment #22AC is a waste of wages, even on a pay as you play deal.
He’d basically be giving us as much in a season as Joselu did. Is that worth the time and energy? Wouldn’t it be better spent getting someone from the youth team in and around the first team and pushing for them to get some game time?

Comment #23I think it makes perfect sense, hes the type of striker we need as cover and he is always gonna be 3rd or 4th choice striker anyways. He wont have to play more than 10 odd games a season anyways. For free I definitely think it’s a great singing.
I highly doubt they’d bring him in to appease fans Jail, as AC is never gonna appease many people to begin with. It’s just good business, it makes perfectly good sense, considering hes free and his wages are not going to be astronomical either.

Comment #27Ashley tore out and spit on my heart when we sold Carroll, to bring him back now in any capacity will be a f*****g insult… Exactly the sort of thing Ashley likes to do, have a good old laugh at us.
There will be no tears of joy and a swelling of pride if this geordie is brought back home. It will simply be a reminder of how out of touch our owner is and another fat laugh in our faces.
I loved Carroll and none of my annoyance would be aimed at him and if he does come back but it will be yet another example of just how much we MUST ALL drop the “Support the team not the regime” b******t mentality and BoycottNUFC to get the parasite out of the club.

Comment #28Did u just compare AC to Joselu? Lol AC if fit is a fine stiker. Hes also somone tall enough that our piss poor crossers can actually pick out from time to time.
He would be 3rd or 4th choice striker which means he wouldn’t be playing more than 10-15 games a season and unlikely to start many of these games either. Which would help hugely to reduce his fitness and injury worries.
There are a lot of things the board do that I dont agree with, but bring in a free AC is good business imo.
