Report – Carroll Has Agreed Terms With Newcastle While Former Player In Shock Loan Deal To Reading

Lee Ryder has reported that Andy Carroll has agreed terms with Newcastle.

He is also reporting that it is a pay as you play deal which makes a big statement from Andy Carroll in joining his former club. We are pretty shocked that Carroll would agree to this type of deal but it may have been the only way for him to join the club. So he must really be keen to come back to Newcastle.

In other news, Chelsea’s Kenedy is set to join Championship side Reading in a season-long loan deal. Newcastle were quoted a fee of £30m for Kenedy last summer. That also was reportedly the size of the fee that Newcastle had as an option to trigger a permanent deal for Kenedy while he was on loan last season. We hope that Kenedy can regain some of his form and confidence at Reading this season.

Shows how low the club has fallen when a injury prone donkey who Joselu has out scored in the last 3 years is seen as good business.

    Cattermole and Wilshere anyone?

Ha! I’m more excited about Andy signing than Joelinton, St – Max, Willems and Krafth combined.

Not a very stable or rational frame of mind I admit, but you know what? F@ck it.

    I love Andy Carroll.

Bills-Son that is a massive IF, he has had serious injuries nearly every season which sidelines him for months on end, its a no risk deal but I doubt it will be a signing of the season, there was a reason West Ham fans were pleased to see the back of him

Worst signing we could have possibly made.

Hope he doesn’t get a single minute, never mind a game!

Carroll has his problems but one thing he isn’t, is a donkey. The lad is a class act. Unfortunately cannot see him playing more than 10 games.

    Moonraker,

    Rondon would have cost £16.5M + £60K+ wages + a minimum 3 year deal

AC is a free,, pay as you play and probably a 1 year deal to start.

You can’t seriously compare the two signings.

Mixed feelings about this one, number one he left the club, number two he has had some serious injury issues.
But if this is a pay to play scenario then its a no brainer for us, I remember when we played Liverpool and West Ham and he used to come off the bench, I for one was always like shite, not because of his wonderful on the floor shooting ability but his aerial game.
You know when Andy came on players were always like shite, here comes someone that is going to give us problems and if that means players like Miggy and Max can latch on to Andy’s flicks then how is that something that is not a benefit for the club.
I for one didn’t want this but deep down I’m like the kids a Geordie, let’s see how this plays out.

My god we are a negative bunch…..

I actually like that he is coming back for nothing and on low wages!! It’s a no brainer because if fit he can be unplayable!! He is not our main forward, he is coming in as back up

Also we have had a pretty good transfer window!! I’m pleasantly surprised!!

I know I’m going to get shot down for this but it of been Rafa and Jabba not getting along that caused some of the issues of no signings previously…

It does seem Jabba only spends money when he trusts the person!! It feels he is ok with cabbage heed but not Rafa….. Why??? Have no idea, maybe he thought Rafa had to much power

I get that WH fans ran out of patience with AC.

But AC, especially on pay as you play, is a potentially fantastic signing.

Strikers of his size and play style can still be top players well into their 30’s because they don’t rely on pace – Rondon is a classic example.

He will fire up the crowd as an impact sub, be a totally unwelcome sight for oppo defenders and completely change our style of play and the way we can pressure in the last 20 minutes of a game + he is a great player to have back defending corners or free kicks.

I have absolutely no doubt that AC, knowing he has never achieved his full potential because of injuries, will see coming back to NUFC as a chance to be part of something massive at his home town club ie., winning a cup.

He will be, I am sure, brilliant for young Jo a physically strong player who will learn a lot from AC on how to use that strength to his best advantage.

I bet the squad are buzzing that AC is joining.

Yes it’s a big IF about his fitness.

But it’s a very low risk IF and the potential upside to the deal is massive.

    Get in Andy!!

Steve I wouldn’t concern myself with what 60% of people think on here, they are clueless to put it mildly. Its a great acquisition for NUFC, and fair play to Andy for taking that contract, shows he is willing to try hard.

The positives outweigh the negatives with this deal. If it comes off it will be an exciting ride, if not, it was worth the entrance fee.

i’ll be very surprised if he gets to 10 games this season.
    A sick note he is.

but he’s undoubtedly the best target man in the Premier League.
it’s a gamble on his fitness.
but since leaving us he’s been pissp poor.

so the odds of him banging goals for us is very slim.

Pay as you play, 1 year deal = no risk.

He gives us a plan B.

For all the ppl against Carroll signing, just remember it’s him or nobody. Ashley is not going to sign anybody else.

If we didn’t get him everybody will say we lack depth upfront.

I understand he won’t even last half a season, but he’s worth having around, even if it’s only 10 or 15 games.

As the transfer deadline of 5pm starts to loom large, Newcastle United are reportedly looking to bring in Bordeaux’s Francois Kamano.

According to L’Equipe, the Ligue 1 club are keen to sell the player and value him at €15 million. With the Magpies having been long-standing admirers of the winger, talks are believed to be ongoing to bring the player to St. James’ Park before the day is out.

Monaco and Genoa are also said to have shown interest in the Guinea international.

Able to operate on either flank, Kamano would add some much needed depth to Newcastle’s wide options – particularly with Jacob Murphy on the cusp of sealing a loan move to Sheffield Wednesday.

If all goes well, the Toon could end up with three new signings by the close of play today. So far today, right-back Emil Krafth has finalised his £5 million move from SC Amiens and a deal is close to being agreed to bring Andy Carroll back to St. James’ on a free transfer.

Already the summer, Newcastle have signed Joelinton, Allan Saint-Maximin, and Jetro Williams as new manager Steve Bruce faces up to the daunting task of filling Rafa Benitez’s shoes in the St. James’ Park dugout.

    Cabbage Heed

Nothing to do with trusting the manager. Rafa would have had a similar summer.

People pointing to us not signing Rondon for Rafa when he is only 8 months younger than Carroll are overlooking Rondon would have cost £16m, wanted £60-80k and a 3 year deal. Carroll is free and on a heavily incentive based, low basic wage initial 1 year deal. Incomparable.

Oh and Carroll has a better PL record than Rondon – a goal every 245mins vs a goal every 315 😉

AC would be a great signing as backup. If he was our only attacking player signed I’d panic but as cover or for switching things up at the end of matches he’s ideal. You’d hope that once he’s used like that he’s less likely to get injured.

    Bills

Rondon is 8 months younger than Carroll and not really a like for like type. Carroll is somewhere between Rondon and Crouch in play style. Bit more mobile and powerful than Crouch, but not as mobile as Rondon, but can occasionally run through on goal. Underrated technician like Crouch too.

Good point on the defending set-pieces. If anything was our achilles heel last season, that was it, particularly as pressure mounted late in games. Lost so many points that way.

I would love it if we signed Kamano, I honestly don’t see it happening but he’s such a dynamic player I really think he could cause issues for a lot of fullbacks in the league.

I’m not saying he’ll ever reach his level but he’s similar to a Mane type player. If we were to play something along the lines of a 5-2-3 with 2 narrow forwards in behind Joelinton, having the pace of Almiron, ASM and someone like Kamano to choose from would cause problems for every defence in the league.

Jib thats a pointless stat though, Andy Carroll up until now has only scored 50 premier league goals, mainly because he is always injured, on his day when he is fit he is a cracking player but you know for a fact he will be injured again, he is every season so I can’t figure out why fans think he is suddenly going to be injury free for us? I agree its a no risk signing but I doubt he will play much for us
