There are reports that Sheffield Wednesday have won the race to sign Newcastle United winger Jacob Murphy on a season-long loan deal. He is reportedly on his way now to have his medical.

It was reported a few days ago that it was between Derby County, Huddersfield, Fulham, and Sheffield Wednesday were all trying to get the £12m winger on loan.
Jacob has found it hard to cement a place in Newcastle’s side since joining from Norwich two summers ago. He went on loan this past January to West Brom where he was able to get in a few appearances but ultimately failed to have a big impact.
With just two years left on his contract, there’s little hope that Newcastle will be able to recoup the £12m they paid for Jacob. He will go out on loan and then return to Newcastle with just one year left on his deal next summer.
Unless he shows a dramatic increase in production at Hillsborough this season, we just don’t see Murphy having any future at Newcastle United.

Much more preferable to your endless harping on about Rafa and telling us for the umpteenth time that you were one of the first to question his tactical ineptitude and how the Taliban persecuted you for it. Jeezus.H.Christos, change the bloody record.

Comment #4People are talking down Gayle’s premier league stats but he had exactly the same stats during three years at Palace as Rondon was having during three years at West Brom. About 1 goal in 4.5 in the Premier League.
Rondon (fortunately for us) had a breakout season last season but before that his stats were no better than Gayle’s.
Gayle’s one season for us, when Rafa gave him a chance, was playing alongside Joselu. Maybe he will have a breakout season playing alongside Joelinton and Almiron!

Comment #7Gayle will just never be prolific in the PL, he showed with us and some of the chances he missed. It weird but seems to be a mental thing with him

Comment #8Shame we got the wrong murphy, lad just hasn’t done anywhere near what was expected of him. Hopefully he has a really good loan spell and shelf we’d can sign him permanently next season. Otherwise he’ll remain here for the final year, 12m wasted shame

Comment #11Jib – not sure why the #boycottarsenal thing bothers you so much, you don’t support it so get yourself to the arsenal game and let others make their own decisions … You’re as boring as toon22

Comment #13Must be a bit hard on murphy
For a player who was reportedly pretty happy Rafa had left as he thought he would be given more first team chances under a new coach this is unlikely how he saw things panning out .
Good luck to him but I think the champo seems his level but love to be wrong on him .

Comment #14I’ll be very disappointed if we let Manquillo go now, when he’s started to show some potential to play well.
On the previous post – that Francois Kamano kid looks impressive.

Manquillo is awful, I’d be glad to get rid of him. Poor player who was lucky to get this move to start with

Comment #19Jail i guess it must sting that more and more guys started asking questions as time went by. Come back to me when you grow a pair and can question received wisdom. If when you can judge tactics. Laughing at you. 🙂
