Newcastle United Have Announced Their 25-Man Squad For The 2019/20 Season

Steve Bruce has announced who he has named in his 25-man squad for the upcoming season along with the squad numbers. It looks like some players like Sean Longstaff and Miguel Almiron have kept their numbers from last season which is a bit of a surprise.

This is the list of our squad along with their number.

1 Martin Dubravka

2 Ciaran Clark (homegrown)

3 Paul Dummett (homegrown)

4 Ki Sung-yueng

5 Fabian Schär

6 Jamaal Lascelles (homegrown)

7 Andy Carroll (homegrown)

8 Jonjo Shelvey (homegrown)

9 Joelinton

10 Allan Saint-Maximin

11 Matt Ritchie (homegrown)

12 Dwight Gayle (homegrown)

13 Yoshinori Muto

14 Isaac Hayden (homegrown)

15 Jetro Willems

17 Emil Krafth

18 Federico Fernandez

19 Javier Manquillo

20 Florian Lejeune

21 Rob Elliot (homegrown)

22 DeAndre Yedlin

24 Miguel Almiron

26 Karl Darlow (homegrown)

30 Christian Atsu

36 Sean Longstaff (homegrown)

43 Matty Longstaff (homegrown) – does not count towards squad

So that means that the following players have been left out of the squad for this season; Jack Colback, Achraf Lazaar, Rolando Aarons, Henri Saivet and Jamie Sterry.

It is a shame that there was not any room for Rolando Aarons though looking at the squad we can’t see who he could have replaced. Local lads Jack Colback and Jamie Sterry will also miss out.

This is what Steve Bruce had to say about naming the squad.

“All of the players have worked extremely hard since I arrived at the club and they deserve enormous credit for that.

“Unfortunately, the rules dictate that I’ve got to let five of them down, who can’t get a squad number. It’s one of the hard parts of the job but it’s a decision I have to make.

“The season starts for us in just a couple of days and we’ll be doing everything we can to ensure the squad is prepared and ready to go.”

With no Colback in the squad we should cut down on the number of silly goals conceded by reckless tackles just outside the area.

Joelinton for £40M was a PR job

And so was AC for free.

    I don’t quite get that.

    Run it past me again……..

    About Steve Bruce

Not as highly decorated or esteemed as Rafa ( in fairness how many are) but he a decent manager, as I say not an esteemed manager, but in fairness has he had the chance, Sad lot down the road, Wigan, Birmingham, you never know coming home may take him to another level, but what I will say is that I admire his balls and his bravery.

He was revered at Sheff Wed, done a great for them, the club and the fans were desperate for him to stay, yet he has thrown that adulation and that comfort away to join us knowing that after Rafa he is onto a hiding to nothing, so why would he fo that, quite simply, he is one of us and he wants to do as much as he can to help the club that he loves, let’s give the man a chance.

A hard one to take for Aarons. Scottish window remains open and Celtic have just sold Tierney. Offer him to them on loan – can stay at home, play in front of big crowds, build confidence in a dominant team and get some exposure at a higher level with European nights.

Colback, Saivet, Lazaar, Sterry just sell.

You didn’t get first because one of our Irish friends must be having his afternoon nap.

IrishRob, what is it drives you to sit on the blog waiting for a new thread and the opportunity to post a ‘first’ on it? Have you thought about doing something more constructive with your time? Haven’t you got homework to do?

Both Elliot and Darlow named as well, thought it might have been just one of the two.

If Joelinton makes it he’s away for big money (for Mike)
Carroll probably is a PR stunt.

Aarons may just need another half season of intensive training to build up bulk and muscle tone after his injuries.
He clearly has some potential and needs the chance to prove it – perhaps at Championship level, if not in Division Two as the new Mackem slayer.

Think we’ll go in for Thiago Maia, Rony Lopes, Jarrod Bowen and Mateta in January.

Jake Turner signed on a free. Not from Preston. Never played for Preston. He’s ex Bolton, and is only 20, so doesn’t need to be named in the squad.

Your patter is utter b0llix. Bruce doesn’t use wingers in his chosen system. I always say that you are either deliberately taking the p155, or you’re just a moron.

MickyZee – spent a lot of money at villa and despite having a great squad he ended up failing to get them promoted and had them falling down the table culminating in a fan dumping a cabbage at the dugout before he was sacked

    League invite code: eythox

The blog’s FF league is jam-packed this year. Anyways, that’s the last time I will spam the link & code.

Hopefully Colback will engineer a move abroad for himself. If Colback runs his contract down, he won’t get much of a contract anywhere else after a year sitting in a reserve side.
