The Chronicle had a report out this morning that Steve Bruce called up 16-year-old Joe White to the train with the Newcastle first team.
Joe White is a versatile midfielder who joined Newcastle from the Carlisle youth academy. He generally plays as an attacking midfielder but made 3 appearances as a striker for Newcastle U18s last season. He played 13 times and had 2 goals with 4 assists.
Joe White– promising young midfielder though it looks like it’s 1971
It’s a positive sign that Steve Bruce has called the young lad up to train with the first team at just 16 years of age. He must be absolutely buzzing with excitement at the experience. He must also really be impressing the academy coaches.
We feel that youth development is so important for Newcastle. The club now seem to be determined to focus more on youth.
They recently announced a restructuring of the coaching set up at the academy. Steve Bruce also stated that there was money set aside to build the U23 squad.
This will only be beneficial for Newcastle in the long run.

Comment #14Norwich look good going forward and are s threat but easily bossed in midfield and their defence has panic written all over them – they’re going to need to tighten up ( hopefully after next week’s game) or they’ll be down by Xmas

Be great for this lad to get some cup games, if you are good enough you are old enough. Got some good role models in the squad now

Comment #18I love and have supported my toon fo 50+yrs but if it meant moving phatt boy on, a very low crowd on Sunday would go a long way to get rid of wobbly face I would accept that… but in all honesty.. Probably get 47000+ turning out… I hope not but…

Comment #21I think more like 45000 at most – could be wrong though for first home game of the season that would be pretty good and should leave enough gaps for sky to pick up on it.
Still an awful lot of season tickets left do just shows the Ashley PR hasn’t done its job very well

Any idea who the next best youngsters are? Hoping Watts can turn into our version of John Terry, the loan spell will do him good.
Would love a few to break in and be top draw like longstaff

Hope Sorenson can be our Kane, doesn’t look amazing at one thing in particular but is an old fashioned goal scorer, here is hoping!
A lot of people say Matty is the better of the two brothers, I’m hoping he is 70% as good! Would love to see them as Central midfield partners, more local lads the better 🙂

Comment #26Kilcline – agreed, and would leave more money to buy a superstar ( although highly unlikely fatty would actually buy a known good player), I remember Freddy used to always like to try and buy a player for the fans for big money – didn’t always work out though 🙂

Comment #27We won’t ever spend big under Ashley. He will love the youth though, flog them for a kings ransom and buy another shop.
Miss us being a first choice for youngsters who impressed in lower leagues etc, Sir Bobby bought a few young players, I like that strategy.
Target the likes of Charlton who have sold them young players to the prem

Comment #28Unless there is less than 40k there I reckon we wont even notice. As they tend to fill stadiums randomly, I.e they will be empty seats spotted randomly around the stadium rather than one big vacant patch.
So as long as there is enough of a crowd there we wont really notice it too much on tv, as the empty seats will tend to blend into the crowd if there isn’t too many empty seats bunched together.
I think its all gonna be pointless unless we can get the attendance below 40k, because below 40k in a 52k stadium is around the point I imagine it wont matter anymore, and it will just become obvious.

Comment #29So, in some quarters Brucie Bonus musnt be so bad if some players enjoy his training /man management… probably the one’s who didn’t get what they wanted under Rafa??
Being nice doesn’t get you titles or cups, Bruce has proven that.
Sir Alex was one of the most ruthless managers of his time yet he didn’t do too badly… did he?
Rafa has always been focused giving an air of coldness…. Stevie G has often said he and RAFA rarely spoke outside of football yet…has always maintained he was the best manager he ever played for

Comment #30Spare a thought for Arsenal, buying a fullback for 25m only to find that he has a groin injury and will be out for six weeks.
Anyone know owt about this kid called white, an attacking midfielder only 16 yrs of age. Has anyone seen him play for the under 18s.

I agree your core players should be 1 to 11 or 12 and number 7 definitely Sean Longstaff. As it is we’ll hardly see 7 on the pitch!

Comment #39Mindshaft that’s fair enough, it was a loose quote, how do you prove what the exact crowd is? St holders don’t turn up but are still included in the figures.. Or am I wrong?
Anyway I was hoping for no more than 40-43000 but think it will be way above that thanks to slug man signing Mr Carroll (who I’ve heard has a s. t. at the freeman)
I can almost hear Mark Knopflers?? tune as I text this… Ah well here’s to another 12yrs of making do.. Good health to you all
