Greek Super League Club Hoping To Get Newcastle Winger On Loan

Greek outlet SDNA are reporting that Greek club Panathinaikos are still very interested in bringing Rolando Aarons in on loan.

In June, the same outlet reported of the club’s interest in Aarons. It appears that Panathinaikos have been tracking Aarons for some time.

Panathinaikos, who finished 8th in the Greek Superleague last year, has former Newcastle defender Nikos Dabizas as their technical director.

Dabizas made 158 appearances for Newcastle from 1998-2003 and has been given a new hope in getting Aarons to Greece.

They reportedly assumed that with the arrival of Steve Bruce to Newcastle and Rolando Aarons having played such a big role in pre-season, that he would have been part of the 25-man squad for this season.

However, it was revealed on Friday that Aarons has been left out of the squad and must now find a loan deal abroad.

Rolando Aarons– no room in 25-man squad

The report claims that Aarons was told by Bruce on Tuesday that he would not be in the squad for this season. This news was first reported by Keith Downie with Sky Sports the following day.

At that time, it was reported that both Sheffield Wednesday and Wigan were in for Aarons. Aarons had spent the second half of last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday where Steve Bruce was his manager.

However, those deals never materialized and now Aarons will have to find a place to play this upcoming season. He has twice had loan spells outside of England, spending the first half of last season at Czech club Slovan Liberec making 13 appearances. In 2017, he joined Serie A side Hellas Verona for the second half of that season. He made 11 appearances in Italy under former Newcastle assistant coach Fabio Pecchia.

The issue with Panathinaikos bringing Aarons in is that they can only afford a fraction of his wages. So Newcastle will most likely wait to see if a better option arises for Rolando.

The Greek Super League transfer window is open until August 31st.

NY Mag: I am against the boycott because it will have no effect on Ashley and all it can do is hurt the team and the atmosphere.

NY Mag: I am also against the boycott because they have no clue what to do after. Apart from some vague idea to march on Charnley’s house.

Enough from me though. We will see what happens tomorrow. Before the game and on the pitch.

    Not long to wait.

I think it will have an effect on him, just not the desired effect (ie. it won’t make him sell the club)
Whether it hurts the team, will depend on its longevity….and it’ll either snowball or fizzle out depending on what happens on the pitch.

One more time from Luke Edwards. Bruce finished 10th and 13th with Sunderland. Exactly the same as Rafa finished with NUFC. Will this be considered a golden era for NUFC with Rafa in charge? He was great with other clubs and average with us.

Rafa had a modest group. Bruce has had no better over the years. He has a good opportunity here to do well. It’s critical we stay up, and the side get that 50 mill a year to improve the squad, then we can realistically push into the top ten. If Ashley had the decency to pay the going rate for his advertising, and was willing to continue the good things Rafa introduced and implement those he advocated, we’d likely do better, 7th or 8th. The bottom line for us though is staying up. We’ve been completely undone by it twice.

Some will say that a boycott and supporting the team are not mutually exclusive. Wrong. A boycott is p!ssing and moaning. Supporting the team is cheering them on and hoping for a win.

The boycott is dragging everything down.

And it is only one game. You won’t even commit to what you are doing beyond that FFS.

No Plan. No Organisation. No Idea. No Clue.

Tony you have no clue about our plans, come on tell me whats going to happen after boycott arsenal?
You seem to know the ins and outs of our group clearly so tell me what is going on?
Someone must of been attending the magpie group meetings.
Are you that bloke that stood up and was so convinced that the take over was going to happen?

And for one final note for the holier than thou crowd on here. Rafa would never have taken the NUFC job with 10 games to go if he didn’t think he could keep the team up. He failed.

You cannot support the team and not the regime, if you go to games you are giving your tacit support to Ashley. You in here on this blog know the arguments and if you ignore them then you’re ignoring the cause.

That’s entirely your choice and I am not going to persuade you to do something you don’t agree with, but please don’t say you support the team not the regime. You’re just wrong.

Keep the boycotts for the next transfer window. Because fat boy is not going to spend anymore. We must boycott at the right time.

Boycott now and pundits will be saying, “but he’s invested over 50 million, I don’t get it”.

Which will make us look bad. Granted we look at over a decade of mismanagement, two relegations and many more things, but these pundits can’t see past last week.

    I’ll elucidate.

The fans groups who want Ashley out have asked all fans to boycott. One boycott will not drive that change but it’s the start of something. Hopefully.

Those who choose to go are saying they don’t care if Ashley stays. This is exactly what Ashley wants.

Therefore those who go are undermining the cause and upholding the regime. The two things are inseparable. Choose one or the other but don’t pretend to be holier than thou, whichever side you sit on
