Greek Super League Club Hoping To Get Newcastle Winger On Loan

Greek outlet SDNA are reporting that Greek club Panathinaikos are still very interested in bringing Rolando Aarons in on loan.

In June, the same outlet reported of the club’s interest in Aarons. It appears that Panathinaikos have been tracking Aarons for some time.

Panathinaikos, who finished 8th in the Greek Superleague last year, has former Newcastle defender Nikos Dabizas as their technical director.

Dabizas made 158 appearances for Newcastle from 1998-2003 and has been given a new hope in getting Aarons to Greece.

They reportedly assumed that with the arrival of Steve Bruce to Newcastle and Rolando Aarons having played such a big role in pre-season, that he would have been part of the 25-man squad for this season.

However, it was revealed on Friday that Aarons has been left out of the squad and must now find a loan deal abroad.

Rolando Aarons– no room in 25-man squad

The report claims that Aarons was told by Bruce on Tuesday that he would not be in the squad for this season. This news was first reported by Keith Downie with Sky Sports the following day.

At that time, it was reported that both Sheffield Wednesday and Wigan were in for Aarons. Aarons had spent the second half of last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday where Steve Bruce was his manager.

However, those deals never materialized and now Aarons will have to find a place to play this upcoming season. He has twice had loan spells outside of England, spending the first half of last season at Czech club Slovan Liberec making 13 appearances. In 2017, he joined Serie A side Hellas Verona for the second half of that season. He made 11 appearances in Italy under former Newcastle assistant coach Fabio Pecchia.

The issue with Panathinaikos bringing Aarons in is that they can only afford a fraction of his wages. So Newcastle will most likely wait to see if a better option arises for Rolando.

The Greek Super League transfer window is open until August 31st.

Jib, I think he left because of 3 years of lies and deceit, all while having a disgraceful amount of transfer funds and the owners refusal to give him a competitive wage budget.
Oh yeah, and the lack of investment in infrastructure.

So, i dont get this RAFA went for the money lark, the timeline is off by about 2 months, for one, the club knew he was in the last few months of his contract, Rafa was asking (since he started at the club) for a greater say on recruitment, for improvements to the infrastructure and scouting network and for the final say on transfers…….none of which were given, even after a promotion and 2 premier league survivals on a player profit over he time he was here the club refused to give an inch.
The last few weeks were supposed to be discussing the changes he wanted, he again got nothing, the last week of his contract we hear nothing from the club in all this time until it gets leaked about an offer to Rafa from China, the club then issue a statement saying Rafa is leaving because the BZG group did not want him , this week Charmless comes out and says (just before the start of the season) we couldnt match Rafas wages in China and thats why he left………il just let that sink in……they are liars, they are complicit in subterfuge and have been found out on another lie……..and all the apologists on here should be ashamed ……..

Lochinvar @155 couldn’t agree more! The decisions in the Man City game, although correct, are not what the game is about. Now that we can measure so accurately would it not make sense to go back to the original law I.e. clear of the last defender? Give the advantage back to the attacking team? Having only the point of a shoulder offside is never going to be offside in my view.

If you’re going today you should be ashamed. Selfish. Short-termism. All of this ‘I respect your right to go’ is bullshit. The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is good men do nothing.

You are so out of touch it’s laughable. You say Rafa failed to keep us in the Premier League when he thought he could succeed! That’s true but he also stayed when he had a get out clause, and brought us back as champions on a shoestring budget. Then he established us in the PL ready for a real push at the top eight only to find Ashley didn’t share his ambition! So he honoured his contract and moved on leaving the team in good shape for his successor. Unfortunately Ashley has dropped his sights yet again and settled for mediocrity; unfortunately the PL standard has raised and I fear SB will not be up to this challenge and we will be relegated.
Today we will see just how difficult it will be; and just how good was Rafa ! Pass that msg on to whoever is pulling your strings!

.If Arsenal score early then that’s it, the boo boys will start, Ashley out, Brucie’s a Cabbage heed, Sh1t sirect etc, i’ll feel for the players at that point.

If we win today that’ll mean our players are a tough lot. To power through all that’s going on at the club will take a lot of focus and determination.

Looking at the promoted teams yesterday and doubt there will any so called easy games this season. Villa looked good until the last 15 mins, McGinn really stood out, 2 mil what a steal. Norwich stood there ground and even tried attacking Liverpool at Anfield. Gonna be a tough season, nobody knows how it’ll end, Brighton beat Watford at watford pretty sure that was a coupon buster

Gunners will be too good for our mob today, all depends on how the crowd reacts if we lose by a few.

Will also be interesting to see the reaction of the players if we are getting a footballing lesson.

I don’t expect anything less than a defeat today..poor preparation in pre season, unknown quantity signings and another Steve from a different era in charge.

This season will unravel very quickly.

So the Joelinton transfer was delayed by Rafa not giving his final say!
Well considering he had one of the best centre forwards in the league in Rondon, and could sign him go 16.5 million it’s not surprising. He would then have another 20 million for investment. Rondon would have given 2 years but no sell on value; Joelinton is unknown but if successful he’s gone in 2 years for a profit! It’s a no brainer. But he is a gamble!

Matchday at last , hoping we can stuff arsenal and the new boys gel , going to be a great atmosphere in the bars around the toon.

The boycott of season tickets has already had an effect – unlikely Ashley would have splashed the cash if 10,000 season tickets weren’t sitting unsold.

Not sure why people are saying boycott will affect players and atmosphere as the boycotters won’t be in the ground.
Only people going to the match are responsible for the atmosphere so if you are going and giving Ashley your money then enjoy it.

6 of us including 3 ex season ticket holders will be watching and supporting the lads in the bar.

Bruce has no excuses today, he inherited a squad that finished strong last season, no Rondon or Perez, but we should still have enough to see off Arsenal who will be weak at the back today. 4 1 score.
