One of the reasons we are thrilled with Andy Carroll coming back to Newcastle is the experience he will be able to impart to the younger strikers.
Andy has been through a lot in his career.
He has had a lot of tribulations, especially of late, with injuries. He also went through the disappointment of much-publicized move to Liverpool that didn’t work out for him.
Andy is also a natural striker who can help a player like Joelinton while he adapts to leading the line. Of course, the fact that Andy is a local lad will make the other players all that more inclined to take his advice. He knows all about the club and can help instill some of that passion into our new signings.
Steve Bruce and Andy Carroll– already taking a leadership role
At Steve Bruce’s media briefing earlier today, he was explicitly asked about Carroll’s impact at the club so far. This is what Bruce had to say:
“Well it’s only been a week of course since he’s walked through the door. You can just see the other day, for example, we had a meeting with the strikers.
“He was in there giving his opinion. They all want to be around him. They want to feed off of his experience and his ‘know-how.’ And also of what Newcastle is about.
“So all of his experience can only be a positive. And, of course, the biggest positive of them all is when you see him out on the training ground. Because if we can get the lad fit, then we know we’ve got a smashing player as well.”
This is what we expected from Carroll, who is just delighted to be back at Newcastle. He has a second chance at the club he loves. It seems like he is going to do everything he can to make it work.

A string of bad news from Daniel Farke at Colney. Klose, Zimmermann, Drmic definitely out for #nufc while McLean is also a major doubt. And in a further blow, Hernandez slipped at home yesterday and has damaged ligaments in his knee.

Comment #3Jeez Reilly, that’s kinda unlucky for the Canaries.
Still think it’ll be a draw though – no real firepower.

Comment #4So for Norwich tomorrow none of their CBs are back, so Hanley is there to be roasted.
Also from their starting team against Liverpoo, McLean a CM is a major doubt, but Tettey is back fit.
A few of their subs from last week out too.

Comment #7The big difference on Sunday was one mistake. Who’s to blame for that mistake isn’t that important as long as we learn from it. We win as a team and lose as a team, everybody makes mistakes.
Difficult to judge any side after one game. Hasn’t that been the general consensus the last couple of seasons?
I was one of Rafa’s biggest fans on here but he’s gone now. I’d take him back tomorrow, but for now at least, he’s gone. Time to move on.
I’m going for at least one point tomorrow, but hopefully three.

Comment #9All Stevie B has to do is challenge for the top 6 and make a go of getting into eruope or win a cup. Thats all. Then I’ll believe he’s a worthwhile incumbent.
any of this busting out of cups in the rounds with a makeshift squad and struggling to finish mid table lark then we know where we are. Still in Ashley land, the domain of ghosts and mist, the graveyard of competitive football.
woooooo oooooo ooooo 😀

Comment #12If we had young preppy euro coach in, we’d be commenting on how the players are enjoying it and talking about a bettter brand of football. But nobody says anything because it might denigrate benitez. Similarly if rafa arrived and Hayden stayed some guys wud be singing it. Hayden not exactly mourning rafa is he? I’ll put my hard hat on now 🙂

Point taken, but you can still follow your club on TV at home or in the pub without giving your hard earned to you know who. We know we are owned by a wrongun but the narrative will never change if said wrongun thinks he’s untouchable. Just think we given him a very easy ride.

Comment #17No blow to Ashley as he already lost £150m when Debenhams went down the tube, but these sort of decisions hardly inspire confidence for the administrators trying to salvage a future for the business.
Who’d be a retailer eh ?
Ted Baker is ending its partnership to sell children’s clothing through Debenhams and is switching to Next.
It has signed a five-year deal with Next, who will “create and sell” Ted Baker-branded clothes, shoes and accessories for babies and children.
The news comes just months after Debenhams, which has sold Ted Baker’s children’s line for more than a decade, announced plans to shut 22 stores.

Comment #19In a Facebook post the Sunderland BID team wrote: “Disappointingly we’ve seen an increase in people thinking it is absolutely acceptable to defecate or urinate in public in our city centre. This will not be tolerated!
“Anyone who observes this behaviour should report it to Northumbria Police on 101. It is a Public Order offence at minimum and individuals will be charged!
Weekend weather forecast for North East: Everything from sunny spells to showers and blustery winds
“Anyone who observes this behaviour “….Apparently they sell tickets to watch because its more interesting than the football
and “blustery winds”……you said it

Don’t you find it alarming that such a basic thing at PL level as a player not knowing where he is meant to be playing.and bruce says ”we” made a mistake. No bruce you did. Bad as pardew, it’s never your fault. watch out for the injuries too under agent bruce.

Comment #30what is cowardly about calling bruce what he is. A serial under achiever who’s had 10 clubs and brought in to replace someone whose laces he couldn’t tie. He’s got the gig because of who the owner and sidekick are.
Bruce is a nice guy but he’s not a winner, but hey you’re not bothered about that cos ”he’s one of your own”. muppetry abounds..
