Elias Sorensen is back out on loan after getting a taste of first-team football in pre-season. He was able to make two appearances in the Premier League Asia Trophy last month. In his interview after his first appearance, he seemed so thrilled with the experience.
However, it was back to the U23s for Elias after the tournament in China. With the arrival of Joelinton and returning players being given a clean slate, Steve Bruce preferred to take a look at Jacob Murphy, Rolando Aarons, and Yoshinori Muto up front for the remaining preseason games.
Today, Elias has moved to Carlisle United for the entire season. He seems to be happy about getting the chance to play on loan again after a disappointing spell at Blackpool.
The News and Star have some comments from Elias Sorensen on his loan move.
“I thought I did well in the Under-23s league in the first half of the season last year. Obviously, I went to Blackpool, which didn’t go as planned.
“But I feel like I’m ready to play men’s football and I’m looking forward to this challenge here.”
This is an excellent opportunity for Elias to get a full season of senior level football. It should really help with his continued development.
This is what Elias had to say about what type of player he is:
“I think I’m a hard-working striker.
“At Newcastle, I always worked hard in every game and tried to do my best.
“Hopefully, I can get a few goals for the team, as well.”
Elias scored 20 goals for the U-23s last year and, hopefully, can replicate that form in League 2 at Carlisle. We were a little disappointed that the loan move wasn’t only until January like Liam Gibson’s move to Grimsby Town.
Elias Sorensen– must prove his quality at Carlisle
If he does really well for Carlisle, he could have then moved up to a League One or possibly even a Championship side in January. We suppose that could still be an option if Newcastle feel that would be the best move for Elias.
Elias does insinuate that he may have had chances to play at a higher level that have fallen through.
“I tried to go elsewhere before I came here but, after that didn’t go through, this was the best option for me.
“The manager rang me and my agent, he spoke to Shola at the club at Newcastle, so this was the best option for me after that.”
It’s good to see that Shola Ameobi was involved as he is now the loan coordinator at Newcastle. Elias will turn 20-years-old next month, and we hope he can show that he has the quality to score lots of goals in League 2.

Comment #5Bruce is just a pawn in fat man’s chess game! He probably realises he can’t win but can’t resist the pull of his home town club and a premiership club. After all, when he fails everyone will blame Ashley for under investment! £25 million net spend! Wow considering we spent £15 million in 1996, 23 years ago, that’s impressive! NOT

Comment #9Jail you still bang on about beating a spurs team who were clearly on the beach. We never saw football like it again either because of rafa’s famous caution.
