Newcastle Need To Find Answers Fast As They Trail 1-0 At Carrow Road

Norwich started on the front foot at Carrow Road and were all over Newcastle in the first half. They would fashion three excellent chances early on. The first required a terrific save at his near post from Martin Dubravka on a Todd Cantwell shot in the fifth minute.

A couple minutes later Pukki would collect a cross in the box but drag the shot wide of the post. He would get another chance a little later as Dubravka was again able to make a near-post save.

Newcastle would get some golden opportunities against the run of play. The first had Emil Krafth chest down a Ritchie pass in the box, but lacking composure, he fired the ball over the bar for a Norwich free-kick.

Martin Dubravka– keeping Newcastle in the game

Isaac Hayden was Newcastle’s brightest player, other than Dubravka, and made some tricky runs down the right.

He managed to put a couple of threatening crosses into the box, one of which Joelinton would head just wide. It was a chance he should have buried and could have changed the course of the game.

Newcastle just did not mark Norwich striker Teemu Pukki well at all, and it ended up costing them. He volleyed a weak clearance into the back of the net in the 32nd minute for the lone goal of the half. Martin Dubravka was able to get a hand on the shot but couldn’t to do much about it.

Newcastle have been completely dominated by Norwich who have enjoyed the bulk of possession and pulled all the strings.

There are only two attacking options on the bench for the Magpies in Sean Longstaff and Yoshinori Muto. Steve Bruce will have to find some answers at halftime or it’ll two opening losses for the boss.

Newcastle can still get back in this and salvage a result. They need to wrestle away some of Norwich’s control in the midfield and create more chances for the front two.

From what I have read the Chinese Super League ends on the 30th of November and starts again on the 1st of March.

I wonder if Rondon would be available for a few months. Not that I am ruling Joelinton, Carroll, and Gayle out just yet… but we will know by the next transfer window. Shame that Sorenson is gone, he looked better than Muto in preseason.

4 of our next 7 against the big boys. Also Leicester, Watford, Brighton. Leicester could get top 6 this year too. The quality of managers has gone up so much since Bruce last pitted his wits against top flight managers.

    Well that was embarrassing lol

    What the hell was that!!!!!!

Zero effort from anyone apart from Hayden and Dubravka.

    Krafth looks very very shocking.

Manquillo has been very good so why drop him? Ki is the laziest player I’ve ever seen and Joelinton just looked isolated and completely lost.

Worst performance I’ve seen for a very very long time.

Fair play to Norwich though, they do look a decent side. Helped massively though by our bunch of lazy looking players.

Anyone got Rafa’s number? Asking for a friend

Comment 213 We never had the midfield at all. Was Ki on the pitch. We were chasing shadows the whole game but Mr Bruce will no doubt come up with some great excuses for our performance. Pity it’s not Man City next week because they are the only Top Six side we have beaten recently. What can we expect when we have three Swansea rejects who were relegated in our squad.

If we continue to play this 3-5-2 with these non existent tactics, we are definitely relegated, Almiron is definitely not a centre forward, Joelinton is being used as a Niall Quinn type player, Bruce is gonna slowly suck the talent out of him and make him just useless.. can’t remember seeing a note worthy attack on either flank, if there was one it petered out early. I think it’s time to dust off the 4-2-3-1 formation and put players in their proper places.. oh and maybe try some tactics, how hard could that be after being he (Bruce) has been in the game for over 20 odd years…

Can people please stop talking about Aaron’s, Lazar, Colback and Saviet. THEY ARE FÚCKING SHÍT!! What the hell does it say about us that we are pinning any kind of Hope on those 4 wasters. If that’s all we have to aspire to then we are screwed.

Its very very clear we are going to concede more than last season. And we don’t have a single goalscorer. Like I said earlier, I’ve a feeling carrol will take the number 9 and almiron and joelinton on the wings. Maximin is a super sub, especially under a Bruce type.

    NOVO…
Loyalty to what?.. Loyal to whom?
Newcastle united FC? That club died 13 years ago.. We just didn´t know it then.
The club itself has GONE NOWHERE IN THOSE 13 YEARS.
The fat fcuking twat has sucked every drop of CLUB out of it.
The training ground, etc is shite..
    The squad is shite.
The club is one of the richest in the world.. So.. where is all that money? It hasn´t been going into the clubs infra structure.. It hasn´t been going into the squad or the youth academy.. The training ground looks like something fra the 70´s..
So tell me.. WHO ARE THEY BEEING LOYAL TO?

The lack of ambition shown by the club over the past few years says it all. The appointment of Bruce says it all.

I wonder what Bruce’s team talks consist of compared to Benitez? I bet they are enjoying it more under Bruce, try to stick the ball in the net but more importantly have a good time is a lot more easy to remember and less straining than actual tactics and hard work

ashLIE won’t sack charmless, too many skeletons in the closet there – and he’d want another yes man to run the club on a pittance, he knows he won’t get one, so charmless remains.

Here’s hoping for a sub 40k at SJP in 8 days. But there won’t be, tickets unsold will be given away on Friday.

I truly hope that the boycott kicks in, cos who in their right mind would want to go to actually watch that? Yeah I understand the day out with the lads etc. but, the spectacle? Who in their right mind????

I rarely comment but as a season ticket holder until 4 years ago I saw no reason to update my ticket as soon as Rafa departred, I have watched the toon since attending the ’74 A cup semi-final at the Baseball Ground with my dad (ohhhh Terry Hibbitt), I still have the ticket if you want proof, but this is one of the worst teams since Billy Whitehurst graced the sports direct stadium. My point been is I am personally boycotting the match by not getting a season ticket, buying a new shirt or even attending cheap cup games ( and it hurts!!!!) and if you want you don’t have to be Bill Gates to watch the live streams (yes I know Ed this is a bit naughty!!!). If you love the Toon at some point you have to draw a line in the sand and either boycott(even if you have a ticket) or accept the worst , if you think you not been there won’t make a difference then think again last week worked as at work the talk was the empty seats not the result…………….all it takes is few more then a few more as our slide to the championship occurs……………oh and by the BRUCE not out but F(*K off
